X2D identical nozzles and clean PETG printing

Hi

  1. I know the x2d has to have identical size nozzles installed. Just thinking of when I'm printing with only the Main nozzle - If I installed a 0.4 mm high flow nozzle on the Main nozzle would I have to put a high flow one on the Aux as well, or could I stick with my existing 0.4 hardened one? Would the printer notice and refuse to work?

  2. I haven't yet printed any PETG. I read you have to put down glue on the default Textured plate so PETG will release. The Engineering plate says it has to be glued for everything but PLA. What I want to do is print clear transparent PETG and so I need a smooth plates and I really don't want to use glue. What smooth plate should I buy please?

(When I bought the X2D I was looking at Bambu's CoolTack plate and then I read the X2D isn't compatible with it and Bambu were releasing a new Pro one in August. No sign of it yet?)

Which kind of filaments are abrasive?

I only just found out that Sunlu Glow in the Dark PLA is abrasive. I printed a lot of that for my son's birthday a few years ago and I guess that's why my old Prusa blocked up!

Now I've read that Matte PLA is too?

So basically

  1. which filaments are abrasive please? Matte, Marble, Wood, Glow... what about Silk? Transparent? Bambu Galaxy PLA? eSun eTwinkling PLA? eSun Gloss PLA?
  2. I've got an X2D with the pre-installed hardened steel 0.4mm nozzles. I also bought the hardened 0.6mm nozzles. Should I use 0.6 for Silk and/or any of the others? Should I buy more 0.4 nozzles and use them just for abrasive stuff?
  3. Should I use separate nozzles for PETG, PETG Transparent, etc?

PTFE tube came out at start of print - how to put it back?

This freaked me out when I thankfully saw it live via the camera, at first I thought the hot end was spraying filament! Turns out the PTFE tube came out of the top of my main extruder and so the filament was just being pushed from the AMS out the tube straight into the chamber!

Please tell me - how do I fix this and get the PTFE tube back in safely? And why might it have come out and how do I avoid that? I know the Aux tube is held in by a nut from when first assembling the X2D, but the main tube was already attached.

Working and living near the P2S or X2D Combos

Hi, I've had a Prusa Mk3S, now thinking of selling it on and buying the Bambu P2S or X2D with AMS 2 combos that are on sale right now. I'm also considering the Snapmaker U1.

The printer would live in the room where I work, and the Prusa was never so loud as to be distracting. What are the P2S/X2D/U1 like in noise? Also do they give off a lot of heat if printing PLA with 4 spools in the AMS and drying them? Smells? It's super hot in the UK right now and I couldn't bear it to be hotter!

Any other recommendations/input gratefully received! I've watched a lot of YT vids and they swing from "no point buying the P2S when the X2D is only £150 more" to "the X2D has major flaws they don’t tell you about". Not likely to be printing special or engineering filaments, mostly PLA, want something that is the most reliable and needs the least tweaking/glue sticks/etc etc

How does Xbox Ally compare to an Xbox One

I bought the ROG Xbox Ally and I'm trying to convince myself that it's worth having.

I have an Xbox One, not Series X or S, and XGP Ultimate sub. More and more games won't install on it, so they have to be played via cloud streaming. I thought about getting a Series X for installs but now that I have the Ally...

If I bought a good dock for the Xbox Ally and connected it to my 4K TV, how would it compare to the Xbox One? Has anyone benchmarked the Ally against Xbox One or Xbox Series X? If I'm cloud streaming, does it matter?

Regex - it isn't clicking for me

Whenever I try and use regex, not just in Excel but other apps for things like file renaming etc, about 50% of them I get my result through trial and error, the others I don't and realise if I'd done it manually it would have been quicker...!

What helped you learn it to use it fluently, even when not often? Are there some fundamental rules that help you?

I can handle programming and syntax normally. I guess some of the regex symbols aren't obvious in what they do? Does everything need to be "anchored" to the start or the end? It feels like something hasn't "clicked" for me in the logic.

I have tools saved to check it, like regex101.com and I'm trying to use a tester extension in Raycast, and a PDF of shortcuts. But when I need to write one, how?!

Memory issues, need help with screengrabs

Hi

I have severe ADHD and terrible memory problems. Like many sufferers I try to remember information, or to do things, so I try any and every system I can find hoping that it'll stick.

Stage 1) Sometimes the easiest thing is to just screengrab what I'm looking at. How do I get a macro to trigger upon taking a screengrab? (Fold 7, usually open)

Stage 2) My end goal is this - I want to take a screengrab and have macrodroid pop up a small window of buttons of what to do with it. Instead of the default share menu and just send it to OneNote, I would like to click a button on that little window for what the grab relates to (read sometime, to do for work, info for a project, geeky tech stuff etc) and then the screengrab is shared appropriately. So random stuff to read could go to a specific OneNote section, things I need to do fire the Quick Add for Todoist, project A stuff goes to a certain NotebookLM notebook, etc.

I need it to be seamless and reliable with minimum user input as otherwise I'll get distracted and then it's screwed.

I guess Stage 3) this window also opens not just for screengrabs, but also webpages I'm browsing, URLs I haven't actually opened, etc.

This would genuinely be an enormous help. Any advice? Anyone want to just smash it together for me to tweak?!

How to switch my boot M.2 (Windows 10) for a new M.2 and installing Windows 11

My boot drive is a 1GB M.2 with Windows 10 on it. My other M.2 port has another M.2 drive for video and data.

I want to install a bigger, brand new M.2 into the main port and then install Windows 11 onto this new drive.

Looking for advice or tips on 1) moving drives and 2) licenses, in case I've overlooked anything:

  1. I think I'll remove the video and data drive, move the current boot drive to that port, and put the new one in the main port as it's faster. Then I can change the boot drive to my old one to boot back into Windows 10 for when I want to look at how I have things set up, etc., as there's no way I'm going to be able to quickly move everything over to Windows 11. (I work on this PC and I can't have it down for long in one go. Plus I've got a few independent software issues so I just want to start afresh.)

Or should I install the new drive in the 2nd port, set it up, then swap the M.2s later?

  1. To install Windows 11 I think I have to download the Windows 11 ISO and run that from an 8GB USB key. Will there be a problem booting back into my Windows 10 once I'm running Windows 11? Will Windows 11 need my Windows 10 licence, and will that cause my Windows 10 to stop working?
