Hornworm extravaganza!

Didn’t realize we have about 30 hornworms on our grapevines which have been completely decimated. A local nursery said they would also eat Tecomas so I picked up one of those but any other advice on how to keep them alive? Also any IDs on them? I believe we have a couple different species. And I know the grapes are a mess, they had to take a backseat on my priority list this year 😕

Just finished The Bone Ships by RJ Barker, loved it

Randomly came across this series and LOVED it! Just ordered the second and put some of his other books on hold-who else has read Tide Child trilogy?

Outschool thoughts?

What are everyone’s thoughts on Outschool? I’ve heard good and bad things about it but what do you specifically look for in hopes of a better class? Looking at Spanish classes for my early elementary kiddo

Am I overthinking group learning as a necessity?

Former public school teacher and working through some learned ideologies but one of my biggest concerns with homeschooling my son (1st grade) is his lack of opportunities to learn academic material with his peers. He is in a co-op where we do book clubs, experiments, random things about once a month and I’m thinking of joining another weekly one to do history/science together. Is it a legitimate concern for your kids to learn with their peers? He is in other activities like sports and music classes but just worried about the academic side of things. What are your thoughts?

Saved this guy from the pool today

I believe it’s a palo verde beetle, located in Tucson AZ-he’s more responsive and active this afternoon but still pretty slow moving. Planning on putting the container out once it cools off a bit but I thought he was a goner for sure, glad he’s moving around a bit more!

Tardy for the Party actually made money and was popular??

Kandi said Tardy for the Party could’ve made between $80-$100k?! And then Kim was asked to perform for a large crowd?? How is that real? It’s terrible lol

Survival/camping resources for younger boys?

Hopefully this makes sense (I’ve been getting everything ready for our camping trip and my brain is fried 😬) but does anyone have any resources or ideas for survival skills or activities kids can do while camping? Looking for something to access tonight/tomorrow so online, printable resources would be great! But if you have other books/resources for our future trips that would be appreciated too! And just to add, they will have many, many MANY hours to explore on their own but they also love learning new skills :)

First time watcher-season 8, episode 15 is the worst episode so far

The weird second wedding with Katie and Tom, Max sleeping with the server in Vegas and talking with Lisa about it on the phone and the suitcase mix up with Tom and Lisa where he has her bra is the worst episode of the entire series-so weirdly staged with everything like what was the point of any of this?

Age appropriate resources for WWII?

Looking for unit studies or other resources that are age appropriate for a 7 year old-he is very interested in learning more about WWII, we went to an airplane museum where he saw different models from the time period and wanted to know more about it. Obviously not going into all of the nitty gritty details of war but has anyone come across anything that would be suitable for his age?

Ensuring each species gets its dietary needs met, could dairy cows live with cholorcala africana or any other type of beetle? I know dairy cows are kind of a pain when it comes to attacking other animals but something with a hard shell may be ok?
