Help Identifying / Any Tips…

This is my current go to razor - it gives a great shave and hones and strips really well, holding its sharpness for ages.

But, it appears to have no makers mark, either on the tang or the blade itself.

I have no idea of age or maker - any ideas.

It has a great serrated edge on the underside to help hold it, otherwise nothing really of note.

Push for Review / How to Review?

Guest was really good, minor damage by a 2 year old child that they told me about and sent pics - just needs some paint - will do in Sept.

They left a tablet computer - offered to send it back at cost (cleaners time, packaging etc). Guest passed my email details to a 3rd party (his daughter I think). She complained about price, I detailed the costing - then radio silence.

I have sent two emails asking if they want the tablet back (just to the Guest, as I didn't like the other party's attitude) - still radio silence.

Do I push for a review?

How do I review?

Cut off for the tablet was yesterday, have extended to today, and sent an email and message in app.

Suggestions/ thoughts?

Paypal vs Bank Account Payouts?

I recently switched from Paypal to Bank Account payouts - but the turn around is abysmal it seems to take a minimum of 3-7 days to receive my monies in my bank account

The reason for me switching was I was worried Paypal was taking 2-3% commission - does anyone know if this is the case?

Just to be clear, if receiving monies through Paypal from Airbnb are Paypal taking a commission either from the Airbnb payout or from me when I transfer it to my bank account (I don't think they do on the last part Paypal to Bank)?

UK Question - Bath, mixer tap....

Right North Americans stay away - you won't get it! Or will you...?!

So the Guest review was....
Had a wonderful stay in X. Brilliant communication from the host, very well stocked cottage and great location. Only downside was that the shower in the main bathroom was pretty tricky to use as it is not wall mounted (presumably as old cottage and walls not suitable), and as there is no shower screen/curtain, we struggled to use it without flooding the bathroom.

Now the point is this is the set-up, a standard mixer tap now I'm a 70's child brought up by a single Mother - so for me this makes sense.

As a woman or a man, you bathe in the bath, if you wash your hair you either, lower yourself down in the bath (my preference) or you lean forward, grab the shower head and rinse your hair. This I would argue is normal behaviour and how it is designed, in my opinion.

No I don't know if the guests are melons (I would go with yes!), but they seem to be (for me) not engaging their braincells and are trying to use it as a stand-up shower.

For added context / info, there is a shower elsewhere in the property, but in this bathroom due to space and the building being old (Grade II, 1489), this is the set-up in this bathroom.

So the questions are...

  1. Do I reply to the guest? My preference is ignore it, guest has highlighted an issue for them, and for others and hopefully others will engage their braincells.
  2. Do I adjust the listing and say it is a mixer tap - not a standard-up shower? Although I would argue that is obvious, plus will anyone read it anyway?!
  3. Add it to one of the emails I send to the guests? - this is my preferred option...
  4. Or....?!

Over to you, I wait with baited breath! - helpful North Americans Welcome too....!

How Long does it take you?! How Many Nicks?!

How long is it taking you to do a Straight shave overall?

I started at 1.5hrs many moons ago, and now I am down to about 15mins - 20 mins.

Out of 10 shaves, how often do you get a nick?!

I'm at about 50/50.

Pakistan - Seiko

So I have a liking of this Seiko 7005-7130.

My questions are as follows…
- would buying from Pakistan be really silly / dangerous? My feeling is it is unlikely to be a fake as at $130USD would it be really worth their while?!
- the lume on the hands worries me, why service it and not give it a cursory clean?
- would I ever receive it?!
- am I just being a melon and it’s just a fake?!

Any thoughts?!

Boox with the latest Calendar update I can import stuff (which I don’t want to do), but why can’t I write with my Stylus in the text box - will it change soon?

VRBO Stealing 3% of your Monies

I should caveat this with being UK / EU based....

I just got off a call with VRBO support and when they show your payout amount, lets say £1k / $1k, you will not actually receive that figure despite what the information says.

They will charge you the 3% fee they are charged by the bank for the transaction fee it costs for the card transaction.

I tried to explain that is a charge that they are charged and it unfair to pass that on to us, but...

So we / you should all increase your fees by 3% to account for this daylight robbery...

So in Amenities - Kitchen - do you have an oven?

Yes?

Grill?

Yes the Oven has a grill, so Yes.

How Vrbo reads / translates this...

You have a BBQ and Outside Grill !

Really? Maybe it's a North American thing, don't ovens in the US have a Grill feature?

Anyway to fix it is not easy, as the save button doesn't always appear, and (like Airbnb) as they add more features, they end up skewing our listings. Airbnb's one today is spuriously adding that I have off street parking - having never claimed I do!

But at least Airbnb has a more intuitive User Interface so it's easier to use.

Oh, and why does Vrbo use such slow / naff servers? Please upgrade to something that goes faster than a donkey...

So I just had a guest ask about a Grade II (1780) property I have listed.

They were asking about stairs and the downstairs lavatorial facilities.

So I wrote a detailed reply…

Vrbo decided to censor the words ‘outside lavatory’ !!

This sums up the naffness of the Vrbo eco-system, I could go on!
