Do you guys think Holly should be taller, shorter, or the same height as Greg?

Personally I lean towards her being taller (like in the films) just because it's funnier

Blaze of Glory

After months of wanton, unopposed slaughter in the Outer Rim, the rogue Secutor-class Conquest is lured into a trap by the Corporate Sector Authority after repeated attacks on their shipments and defense fleets. Instead of coming bow-to-bow with more unaware CorpSec bulk cruisers, the Conquest is met with a combined fleet of combat-ready CSA and Imperial destroyers. Its escape is prevented by a thick net of interdiction mines surrounding the edges of the system.

Without any hesitation, the crew of the upgunned Secutor hurls their ship into what will be its last, and most glorious battle, easily shredding the CSA's Separatist stock while giving their former Imperial comrades a taste of the Conquest's immense firepower.

Alas, all good things must end, and with the arrival of an Imperator backed by a squadron of Dreadnaughts, a CSA Tagge battlecruiser, and an Invincible dreadnaught, the Conquest's rampage will finally be brought to a close...

...with a bang.

RH ships:

  • Secutor-class Star Destroyer ('Conquest')

Imperial ships:

  • Imperator-class Star Destroyer ('Unyielding')
  • Victory I and II-class Star Destroyers
  • Venator-class Star Destroyers
  • Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers

CSA ships:

  • Tagge battlecruiser
  • Invincible-class dreadnaught
  • Lucrehulk Core destroyers
  • Providence-class carrier/destroyers
  • Recusant-class light destroyers
  • Sabaoth-class Star Destroyers
  • Captor-class heavy munitions cruisers
  • Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers
  • Carrack-class light cruisers

Trying something new by depicting actual dead ships to really set the tone for this one, signified by them being slightly translucent and having varying degrees of battle damage (chunks erased out of them) while drifting with no power.

Also thought I'd give the Conquest a faded Republic roundel (with the colors of the Open Circle Fleet, which she was supposed to be a part of before the Clone Wars ended) just for some neat imagery.

What if Star Wars was maximalist from the start?

Think about it. Many big and small wars across galactic history. The GCW being this massive, sweeping conflict across the Outer and Mid Rims that eventually invades the Core as entire sectors begin declaring their independence or join up with other factions to secure their own interests. The Imperial Navy being this truly unstoppable juggernaut in peer combat when it manages to bring its full might to bear, which only makes it more shocking and awe-inspiring when the Rebellion pulls the rug out from under them, in no small part thanks to Imperial defectors joining them in waves as the Rebel Alliance proves itself as a legitimate alternative to the crushing rule of Palpatine's New Order.

The more powerful of independent polities having their own Star Dreadnoughts (with the strongest players such as the Galactic Empire having various classes of them in double digits), more rating systems, the Rebel Alliance utilizing a variety of Star Cruisers (Anaxes battlecruisers) ranging from Clone Wars stock to GCW-era builds such as the Home One. Battles rapidly escalating in scale the more heated the war becomes - the single digit ship skirmishes of the early GCW become a thing of the past as the Rebellion gathers more and more support, and the Imperial war machine mobilizes to crush the widespread revolt that threatens to spill into the heartland.

And best of all, consistent ship and starfighter powerscaling. Small squadrons of fighters now struggling to even pierce the shields of the destroyer, necessitating extremely risky maneuvers or further strength in numbers or tonnage to hurt them. Things like what Wedge and Luke did are now abnormalities, making them very difficult to replicate conventionally and setting them apart from other pilots as many are unable to pull off what they seem to do regularly. Anything that discourages single-digit ship battles or anything of that sort.

Sure, the budgets for shows will suffer trying to depict so much going on at once, and the writers will probably eat their blasters trying to stay consistent across all forms of media, but it's a very small sacrifice to make for adding true scale to the "Wars" part of "Star Wars". Big number might break the minds of fans when they try to process it, but that's a worthy price to pay, because as long as Star Wars media can consistently depict and place emphasis on it, they'll eventually acclimate and learn to accept it.

You have an entire galaxy to play with - it's not fair that writers encourage the shrinking of it.

I don't care about how badly they might have nerfed One, I still want her to rip me in half like Conquest was about to do with Oliver

I wish we could have seen these ships during the Imperial Era

  1. The Imperator-class Star Destroyer.
  2. The Executor-class Star Dreadnought.
  3. The MC80a Home One-type Heavy Star Cruiser.

I mean, the other ships we did see early on were good (like the Procursator Star Destroyer and the Mandator III Star Dreadnought for the Empire, and the repurposed Venators and Providences for the Rebels), but I kind of wish we got to see their mainline destroyers and battleships, y'know?

At least the comics and supplementary materials somewhat rectified this by showing us more of the Imperator and the Executor (destroyers escorting battleships), and showing us the Mon Cal designs working in concert with each other (MC80 Liberties and MC75s flying in formation with the larger Home One cruisers)...

It's just a shame that we have to resort to comics to see them in action.

The Eclipse vs a thousand soon-to-be-dead Acclamators, now in sprite form

This was lovingly (spitefully) made for the esteemed geniuses who think that a thousand glorified space M113s are going to make so much as a dent in the 19 kilometer long monstrosity that Palpatine spent his entire retirement fund on.

And yes, I counted. That is one thousand Acclamators, and no, they are not defeating the Eclipse especially because the original scenario said "no fighters". And because starfighters are this setting's gottverdammt panacea when it comes to asspulling coming up with a way for the good guys to triumph seemingly-impossible odds, that means that the Rebellion (or whoever was smart enough to attack THE ECLIPSE with a thousand assault transports) is about to bleed enough perfectly usable Acclamators and their crews and ground complements to force a second Mid Rim Retreat.

Please. Let me patiently outline why I'm pretty sure you guys are being blinded by the big scary number to the point that your brains broke trying to process how the fight might go. The Eclipse is 19 kilometers long, but it is significantly more massive than the Executor if you look at it from the side. All that extra bulk means more hangar space (not that we're using it for this scenario), more armor, more space for a bigger reactor, which means stronger shields, stronger weapons, more weapons, and yes, that superlaser.

Speaking of the superlaser. How exactly do you think a thousand Acclamators are going to attack the Eclipse in a way that allows them to mass their frankly pitiful firepower so that they might hope to gently scratch its shields? I'm going to be charitable and assume many of them somehow drop in from above, or below, or some other vector where the superlaser can't fire. Fine. But you still need to make at least a tidal wave of Acclamators if you're doing the bullshit Legends explanation of "concussion missiles and proton torpedoes are disproportionately scary for much larger ships!!!" and want to actually do any lasting damage to the Eclipse. And lumbering beast the Eclipse may be, but I'm pretty sure it can still reposition itself quickly enough to carve through the Acclamator net in front of it with the superlaser before resorting to picking you off with its turbolasers.

^(If you mention any RPG or video game stats for the) ^(Eclipse)^(, I will flay the skin from your bodies. Video games are not a good indicator of how) ^(strong) ^(a ship should really be, because devs will balance those ships most of the time so that they don't immediately cause the player to ragequit after losing unfairly to them.)

ONTO THE ACCLAMATORS! The Acclamator is very good! Fast hyperdrive speed, good cargo capacity, and- wait a minute. Why do you care about any of that here? You're already facing down the Eclipse. You can't run even if you wanted to because of the gravity well generators, and your cargo capacity? What will you use it for? You're not allowed to use starfighters, not that they'll do more than scratch damage to the shields (which are still up by the way because you were doing the ship-to-ship equivalent of tossing rocks at an incoming tank), if even that. You can't land on the Eclipse, because assuming you don't get two or three-shot by the comparatively larger, stronger turbolasers... how will you get in? You still need to actually hurt the ship. And you can't do that because the Acclamator is not a brawler. It's a fast transport that happens to be armed, just enough so that it can fight its way into a hotzone and drop off its cargo. This is not an invasion. You are tossing a thousand perfectly good assault transports into the gaping abyss where the fleets of the Light go to die.

The Acclamator is already ill-suited to this engagement. Not allowing it to use starfighters (arguably the one redeeming factor to its horrible void combat performance) is just the icing on the poodoo cake. Paper stats are not everything, you have to remember that:

  1. The Wankclamator is not built for this type of operation - the Eclipse is
  2. The Wankclamator is significantly more puny than the Eclipse, even when arriving in force
  3. The Wankclamator needs starfighters to be even remotely viable in space combat because its weapons are hot ass in ship-to-ship engagements
  4. A thousand of one of the weakest fighting ships in the Republic Navy is still a thousand of one of the weakest(!!!) fighting ships in the RN
  5. RPG statters have done irreparable damage to the Star Wars ships community

Yes, I know a thousand Acclamators looks terrifying on the image I quickly whipped up. But they're not that massive! If this was 3D, the Eclipse easily out-masses the entire fleet. Length is not everything, a ship can be shorter than its peers but be significantly bulkier than them (Assertor being only 15km compared to the 19km Executor, but making up for that lost length with extra depth)

Who would win between a single Nebula-class Star Destroyer and seven Super Star Destroyers?

Assertor in the middle, Vengeance on the left, Executor on the right, and two Bellators and Mandator IIs to cover their flanks. Personally, my credits are on the Nebula (which is the best thing since sliced bread), because RPG stats say that its defenses can withstand even smaller SSDs, so three of the big boys plus four of those smaller SSDs should be no problem.

And as we all know, RPG statters can never lie or be wrong. I mean, they were responsible for some real zingers such as the ISD II having no point-defense despite ESB showing us otherwise and the Secutor having 144 fighters despite being substantially larger than the Venator... Ahem. I mean, I think the Nebula has this in the bag. Obviously. But I'm curious to see what this subreddit thinks.

Breaking Out the Museum Piece

The Mandator II-class Pride of the Core and a growing fleet of surviving New Republic elements barrel through contested space to reach the relative safety of the Core Worlds, even as all First Order ships in the sector scramble to prevent the battleship's escape.

>"Admiral, we can't keep the pursuit up for much longer! We'll lose more than half of the sector invasion fleet if we-"

>"I don't care about how many more ships we'll lose! THAT DREADNOUGHT HAS TO DIE!"

>- Intercepted transmission between an unknown Resurgent captain and a First Order admiral (presumed to be the commander of the Mandator IV)

NR ships:

  • Mandator II-class Star Dreadnought (Pride of the Core)
  • MC85 Star Cruisers
  • MC80a Home One-type Star Cruisers
  • Urbanus-class Star Cruiser
  • Starhawk-class battleships
  • Imperial I/II-class Star Destroyers
  • MC80 Liberty-type Star Cruisers
  • MC75 Star Cruiser
  • Nebula-class Star Destroyers
  • Endurance-class fleet carriers
  • Champion-class heavy cruisers
  • Majestic-class heavy cruisers
  • Defender-class assault carriers
  • Acclamator-class assault ships
  • Assault Frigate Mk. IIs
  • Liberator-class cruisers
  • Strike-class medium cruisers
  • Nebulon-C frigates
  • MC30c frigates
  • Hajen-class fleet tenders
  • Carrack-class light cruisers
  • Nebulon-B frigates
  • Corona-class frigates
  • Sacheen-class light escorts
  • CC-7700 frigates
  • Raider-class corvettes
  • CR90 corvettes
  • DP20 gunships
  • GR-75 medium transports

FO ships:

  • Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought
  • Resurgent-class Star Destroyers
  • Suppressor-class Interdictor Cruiser
  • Night Terror-type Imperial II-class Star Destroyers
  • Imperial II-class Star Destroyers
  • Interdictor-class Star Destroyers
  • Procursator-class Star Destroyers
  • Victory II-class Star Destroyers
  • Interdictor-class heavy cruisers
  • Gladiator-class Star Destroyers
  • Nebulon-K frigates

I always wanted to depict a large, rag-tag New Republic force making a mad dash to the Core while wrecking any First Order responders in their way without slowing down. And since I finally finished a sprite for the Urbanus and Mandator I/II yesterday... I thought, why not put those to good use? And maybe the Mandator IV while I'm at it, since I already completed the sprite for that ship months ago.

Expect one of the large Mon Cal cruisers to ultimately sacrifice itself to save the Pride of the Core from getting sniped - being directly hit by two gargantuan autocannons powered by a dreadnought-sized reactor is no joke, if you actually stop and think about it.

Death of the Arbitrator

>"New Republic forces chased the Arbitrator into a black hole."

A reimagining of the SSD Arbitrator's inglorious end, being chased by a New Republic battlegroup until its command crew blindly jump the Executor into a black hole.

I figured that it would make sense for the Arbitrator to have a fleet around it, or at least, Imperial ships staying close to it for protection before the New Republic showed up to throw hands. The New Republic is also using more ships this time around...

Nine 3.8km Home Ones (with one capable of matching sixteen ISDs through sheer mass), twenty-one MC80 Liberties, four Lucrehulks, seventeen Providences, seven Liberators... and as a bonus, eleven Imperials and two Allegiances. Imperial ships that were captured, defected to the New Republic before the pursuit of the Arbitrator, or perhaps, former allies of the doomed Executor-class, turning on the battleship they were meant to reinforce in return for amnesty from the enemy?

I'll let you decide. Personally, I like the last idea, them pulling a cavalry betrayal on the exhausted Imperial forces and instead joining the fleet of ships trying to box them in.

>"YOU BASTARDS! We offered you and your crews safety, a newfound purpose, and this is how you repay us!?"

>"None of us wanted to be lashed to your sinking ship when we came across your holdout! Now cut your engines, or we'll do it for you!"

And there are supposed to be more NR ships offscreen.

I was originally going to depict the Arbitrator alone, and the only ships in the picture would have been the nine Home Ones, but... I couldn't resist... and before I knew it I ended up having to give the Arbitrator a few escorts to make things less "unfair" (actually to emphasize how utterly fucked it was).
