Selflessness requires a self

Check this out. Bacteria, microorganisms or whatever - have no sense of self. they are ultimately selfish, eating everything within reach. A fish is going to eat the worm. A cute little critter is going to happily eat the head off a bug, and do it competitively with other little critters.

A plant does not have a way to consider giving other plants below them some light - because they have no concept of self to set aside - they need a self to be selfless.

So things without self, are self-ish, and things with a self are empowered to be self-less.

What Killstreak Effect ought I wear?

I'm wearing a Sunbeams Rotation Sensation painted a lack of hue, a Cheater's Lament, and the Macho Mann. This is my "fancy all-class dress", so I could maintain a characterization across all classes, and proudly show off my age.

I'm looking to pair a killstreak effect with my face. I'm partial to daffodil, as it's matching the Lament.

>!P.S. I'm not seeking an excessively fancy weapon, probably an all-class melee (surprise, surprise) to pair with my other lesser killstreak items. I purchased my hat when it was much cheaper, so no fire horns rocket launchers for me.!<

>!Do i have too much stuff stuck to my head? Constructive criticism or roasting welcome.!<

Do you pay attention to your K/D/A?

Most other classes measure themselves roughly by their kill/death ratio. While it does not cover objective-play, or the nuance of everything - it's a pretty common rule of thumb.

Medic does get kills; we punish approach with syringe guns, pick long range with crossbows, and stab a fool who gets too close. Medic mostly gets Assists, our targets killing other players, or chip damage breaking thresholds for a power class to polish off.

I've never heard a medic mention their A/D ratio as the same sort of standardized barometer of performance. Much of that is going to be on your team, but you as the brains atop your legs will have the greatest control.

IDK. I just noticed no-one mentions the assist/death ratio. even as medic, I tend to try to keep my kill/death ratio positive. The only healing i marvel at is the total number at the end of the match, when that, too, is an imperfect measurement.

It makes me want to do a statistics video, with data from 100 2fort matches or something. Do you know your A/D ratio? Do you have a rule of thumb for a good ratio? Is it too reliant on target ability/enemy picker ability?

If you could assign each Deadly Sin an NES game?

If you were to assign an NES game to each of the 7 deadly sins, what would you choose?
I've penciled down some thoughts. Some of it needs justified, some of it is obvious.

Pride: Punch-out?
Envy: Megaman (series, Lets' say 5.)
Wrath:? (Battletoads, Contra)
Gluttony: Kirby's Adventure
Lust:? (Unlicensed lewd games? A game with nudity? Castlevania for sexy monsters?- I somewhat choose Ghosts and Ghouls for Villain and Player motive - but that could be Mario just as easily.)
Sloth:? (Little Nemo? Legend of Zelda II? Final Fantasy? Castlevania 2? Mario 2?)
Greed: Ducktales

Battletoads over contra, because the toads revel in battle.
Sloth mentions Legend of zelda 2 because zelda is asleep, but also because there is ample time for the player to grind without progress. Castlevania 2 because of the day/night cycle locking you out of town usefulness. Final fantasy because of the enemy targeting being "lazy"
Lust I don't know. There are lots of licensed and unlicensed games that have sex as easter eggs or motivations, and even unlicensed uncensored games.

Looking for interesting answers more than conclusiveness.

Does Goodwife Talent Double-Dip?

I'm being silly, trying to build a character around Jack of all trades.

multiple talents can apply to skills, even if you don't buy the skills, I think. Can the Goodwife Talent Apply twice?

Goodwife(5/ level): (Cooking, Diagnosis, Gardening, Housekeeping, and Sewing)
/w alternate benefit: +1/level to all default rolls (as for Jack of All Trades, p. 11) made in your home to keep it clean, safe, and in good repair – from Carpentry to secure a loose floorboard to Axe/Mace to swing a skillet at a housebreaker.

So if I'm cooking untrained in my own home, with no trained skill, Do i get +1/Level from goodwife, then another +1 from the alternate benefit to the same untrained skill?

Would that stack with Jack of all trades, and other alternate benefits that are similarly jack-of-all-trades-like?

Popcicle culture is dead

We have juice. We have freezers. What are we doing buying popcicles? Is it because they come out broken, and leave us with dirty dishes? Is it because "big popcicle" has the perfect formula, hiding how much sugar goes into a good popcicle- making it an art no sane-person achieves without study?

Anyway, I'm well aware that popcicle molds exist. It just seems odd that the activity is relegated to childhood, and that there is not like popcicle culture. It seems like a fad that will catch on one summer because someone famous says they like their popcicles a certain way, and that bomb-pops, while awesome, just don't cut it on the cost or taste metrics unless you're peeling your own grapes for your secret bougie popcicle juice.

Go Vote! Today is the day to be heard.

Go vote. If you don't like how things are, go vote.

If you don't vote, then you will have missed an opportunity to participate in our politics. Your voice will not contribute to our leadership. Other voices will.

Thats all, have a great day!

Myrmidon

Myrmidons

Neat. I always thought Myrmidon meant "warrior", or "soldier" essentially, usually one that wore something like a breastplate, carried an unusual sword or swords.

And i think you see them used in fantasy as such- it's a good word, and makes for an evocative character design -

It does mean "loyal follower", but it also refers to the peoples that zeus created from ants for the Thessalian king.

A Myrmecophage, would be a creature that eats ants.
Myrmekes is greek for ants.

Neat.
