To all students, faculty, REPs, and alumni: What are your thoughts on the nominees?

I think this is an interesting set of candidates. They all seem capable, and I’ve taken the time to read through their vision papers. However, I feel that some of their visions are playing it a little too safe.

With the increasing frequency of natural disasters, growing food security concerns, and the continuing lack of research capacity in the country, I think the role of Chancellor of UP’s second-largest campus requires someone who recognizes the weight and responsibility of the position. We need a leader who is willing to be more proactive, ambitious, and forward-thinking—not just maintain the status quo.

I am eyeing the Astrox 88S (3rd gen) however I'm not sure if I'll buy the Tour or Pro. Some say the Tour is like the Pro but feel is not better, some say otherwise, that the Pro is more difficult to use. In addition, the Pro is almost double the price of the tour in shopee. Also, For context, I'm an intermediate player. I use 100x ultra but I think it's light for my liking.

Can someone clarify the difference? If the Tour has minimal difference with the Pro then I think I'll just buy the Tour. Thank you.

Anong masasabi nyo sa research outputs ng UP campuses? I would say that ranking is consistent with their size, research funding, and number of graduate programs. Medyo surprising lang for me na malaki pala ang ambag ng PGH in terms of research. UP Diliman is expected to lead in research output, as it is the largest constituent university in terms of student population and has more than twice as many degree-granting academic units as UP Los Baños.

Just take note that the 2026 data is just midyear so talagang mababa pa sya ngayon.

Napaisip lang din ako kung paano nauungusan ang UP sa ibang ranking eh kitang kita ang difference dito. lol

One thing I really appreciated about this year's UPLB graduation was the production. The music, hosting, stage, lighting, and overall flow of the ceremony were all so well put together. (Sorry medyo malabo yung audio and music sa video, pero ang ganda niya in person.)

I also appreciate how Harmonya has been keeping the tradition of live commencement music alive since late 2000s. They even compose original pieces for the graduation ceremony, giving it a distinctly Filipino character.

Napaisip lang ako na parang hindi masyadong lumalabas sa media ang UPLB graduation compared to Diliman's. I know UP is a system and THE national university, but sometimes the coverage doesn't quite reflect that. It would be nice to see more balanced visibility across the different UP campuses. Yes, UPD is the largest but UPLB is the second largest and somehow wala nang pake ang media sa other UP CUs.

I think we know that LB made significant contributions in research, agriculture, and science. Its graduation is just as meaningful, and I think it's something more people would appreciate seeing.

Second time ko kumain nito at natuwa ako dahil dumami yung fries nya. Nasatisfy din cravings ko hehe. Normal ba yung dami ng fries? haha

From the FB page of UPLB Chancy, UP Tacloban is now a constituent university (dahil autonomous college sya before). Congrats UP Tac!

The main concern is the funds. Hahaha. Kaya bang isupport ng UP admin ang development ng bawat CU to make it really premier and comprehensive just like Diliman?

Nagstart kami maglaro around 2024 at marami kami noon like nasa 10+.

Ngayon minsan 3 na lang kaming naglalaro, usually alone na lang din ako kasi di na sila nagiinvite. Medyo hesitant na rin ako pumunta sa court kasi di ko na kilala ibang players at introvert ako haha. Nakakamiss lang yung panahon na automatic may badminton buddies ka. Ang hirap for an intro like me na magcontinue sa laro. Usually piniilit ko pa makipaglaro talaga sa mga di kakilala. Tapos wala pang queueing system. huhu

May similar stories ba kayo?
