Why do they have to stuff wokeism into everything?

When Liz talking to Katarina about Agnes likes princess toys “isn’t woke”, or when Liz and Red attended the dinning-in-the-dark, the cook greeted them “ladies, gentlemen, non-binary pals”. Wtf? I’m at the end of S7 right now and really hope they’d stop that nonsense in the later seasons.

Unpopular opinion: I hate Harvey with Scottie

I have seen many posts here loving Scottie. She’s brilliant and great at her job, but to be together, she’s just so competitive. I dislike her attitude whenever she talks to Harvey, she always comes across as tough and unnecessarily confrontational. I imagine it must be exhausting to be with someone like that.

Hey, I did it - the book table that opens like real book

I have made a few of these and finally had a chance to make one with the top lid open like a real book. This is an end table, 22L x 16W x 22H.
- Covers and drawers are made with 1/2” plywood.
- Spines and pages are CNC carved from 1.5” poplar.
- Sides are 3/4” plywood.
- PU leather bound. Patterns are acrylic painted with stencils that can be found on Amazon.

Hope you guys enjoy.

Best way to secure large structure to cinder block wall?

I’m working on a large loft bed structure and need to secure it to a cinder block wall. What’s the best choice of anchor/screw? It will not be for bearing weight, just securing. I have only worked with cinder block wall twice before for small cabinets.

Considering getting a project one without any prior knowledge

I owned a bike before moving to the US but never done any work on it myself. Now I’m settled here, I started to miss the riding days.

I have been looking on FB marketplace and see a few project bikes for around $1k, but my husband said it would cost a lot to maintain as well.

I’m a fast learner and don’t mind to try new skill, but just wanted to ask if it’s really expensive to own a vintage one in the US (Florida). TIA.

*video of myself trying out my friend’s bike. Totally in love, it’s actually the reason why I want one now.

My first bunk bed

A bunk bed requested by my friend, for her 3 kids. Made with 2x4 framed, red oak plywood and solid red oak. The kids went bananas over it, my most interesting build so far.

Help with resources in Milwaukee

Hi. I’m currently in WI to help a friend renovating their home so I’m trying to find a good source of plywood in Milwaukee. Looking to find 4x8 birch for around $50, definitely not those big box stores. Thanks so much in advance!

One year in cabinetry. What can I do to improve overall?

It took me 10 days to build at my shop, including painting. Then 3 days to install on-site. I feel like that’s very slow. What’s your advice for a more efficient work flow?

Am I charging too much?

The job fell through so I assumed they got scared by the quote. I gave them 2 options: stained solid maple for $4800 (1st pic) or paint grade for $2700 (2nd pic). Space is 6ft L * 7ft H, Central Florida.
I have been doing this job for a while but still learning to quote.

Did I charge too much?

I charged $6k5 for this vanity, everything included: integrated lighting, LED mirror, delivery etc.
Does it seem reasonable or a bit much? This was a wealthy client, they agreed to the price without thinking but I’m wondering if I can charge regular customers for that too, since a few people have asked me to build something similar. TIA.

Oak table top

Wrestled with 70bf of 8/4 white oak for 4 days to build a 3ft*6ft table top. As a petite chick, I’m pretty proud of myself lol

First time building a hood vent. How should I finish it?

Still need to put the back on, the exposed front edges will be covered with shaker frame. How should I finish it before painting? Just bendable plywood, bondo the edges then paint? Or bendable plywood, veneer then paint?

Chocolate stump checker sponge cake.

The kids loved it, but the meringue mushrooms became soggy by the time we got to the party so we had to throw them away.

Upped my game and built a giant version of the books coffee table

It’s 44”x33”x16”. About 1.5 times more than the standard size I usually build but triple the effort to wrestle with it.
That’s been said, how much would be reasonable to charge for this? I know I way undercharged this one, just trying to figure out for next time.

ETA: 5yo kid for scale because I’m out of banana.

Finished my first large build recently. Customer totally loves the build but they were a bit disappointed with the finish. I roll painted everything after installing so of course it’s not as good as in-shop finish. They wanted it super smooth and shiny.

The question is: what should I do to improve this step in the future? I do prefer in-shop finish, but sometimes on-site is required too.
