Down 4 pounds in the last month

I've been working really hard on my eating behaviors, and I'm happy to be down from 333 pounds a month ago to 329 pounds when I weighed myself today. I'm too poor for the weight loss medication, so I've just been doing things the old fashioned way. Cutting sugar and flour and getting more exercise. I've been trying to lose weight for more than a year, but this is the first month that I actually went down on the scale.

It's not a crazy amount of weight loss, but it's still something I feel good about.

Hot Take about List Tailoring

People who post on 40k subreddits asking "How good is my list at beating my friends army, they're playing x faction", have missed the point of army building and are hampering their own skill progression.

If you know exactly what army you are going to be facing, and tailor your list around that (Oh I'm facing custodes, I'll play a lot of damage 3 weapons etc.) are doing themselves a disservice when it comes to improving at the game.

To be fair, if all you care about is turbonuking your friend's army into orbit, yeah, list tailoring is probably the best way to do that, but if you want to be good at the game, you need to know how to build a balanced army list that can take on any list from any faction.

I personally won't share my army list with people I'm doing pickup games with because I've had situations where people just play exactly the best list to counter my list, which is not helping me learn how to play my list better. Getting dumpstered because you brought nothing but antitank against my chaos knights list is annoying, and not uselfull data to use when adjusting my list, because I'm not likely to ever face a list tailored to beating my list in a random game or a tournament.

If you're not into the tournament scene, or you only play super casually, or you aren't looking to become the best Warhammer player there ever was, it's not that big of a deal, but as someone who's lost because my list was exactly countered by someone looking for a cheap win in a practice game, it's not a good time for the person who isn't list tailoring to just auto lose to someone who brought only units specifically made to counter your strategy.

Now, my real hot take, my hottest of takes, is that force organization was a useful tool to combat this issue. If players were only allowed to take three heavy supports, three elites, three fast attack, etcetera, and had to take some amount of battle line, this issue would be pretty much null and void. But 10th and 11th edition list building allows players to just take 10 Leman Russ's and 3 Rogal Dorns as a legal list. Or 240 gaunts or whatever skew list.

Anyways. This has been a ramble, and it's just my opinion on why 9th edition style force org should come back. It won't, but it should.

Give me a Dimir commander for someone that loves bracket 4 and storm

I have finally accepted that I am fully addicted to the color red. It's just the coolest color. But I want to break this addiction.

Personally I love cheap commanders whose decks aren't going to fall over and die the first time the commander is destroyed. I have a Garland, Knight of Cornelia deck, and the only thing he does for the deck is be a two mana Dragon's Rage Channeler, for example.

So if anyone has any cheap Dimir commanders, or has any ideas, I'd love to hear about your guys' ideas and decks.

Etali Questions

Hey all, I'm making cuts to my Etali deck and I'd love some advice on what to cut.

I need to cut 3 cards, and my biggest 3 that I'm considering cutting are deflecting swat, because it's too expensive if etali isn't in play, burnout because it's a two mana counterspell, where the rest of the good red counterspells and redirects are just one mana, and Arbor Elf because while there is a very high chance I will have a forest turn one, it is not a one hundred percent chance. Vexing shusher is also something I'd consider cutting, but I would probably replace it with the enchantment creature that makes enchantments and creatures uncounterable.

Also I have a small rules question, if I play the prowl cost of 2R for etali after hitting with hunting velociraptor to get etali out, then sack etali to greater good, his prowl cost from the CZ would be 4R, correct? Like command tax applies normally right?

My current decklist is as follows

Lidless Gaze

So I was looking at impulse draw for my rakdos breach deck, and I came across [[Lidless Gaze]]. Now, in my degenerate bracket 4.5 meta, there's a real chance I could hit someone else's crazy gamechanger, while also essentially being a 4 mana draw four. It's like 35¢ so I'm going to give it a shot and see how it plays, but I'm curious what everyone else thinks of the card, or maybe someone has played with it before.

Rules Question

How much does [Beseech the Queen] cost if I have a cost reducer on board? 5 generic? Or is it still 6 generic?

Am I the only one who thinks martials are totally fine?

Seriously, fighters, rogues, barbarians, and monks got absolutely colossal buffs in 5.5, yet I'm constantly hearing about the "martial caster divide" and that they actually suck. Which is crazy to me.

I've heard people chat on this sub who think that once the party reaches level 9, non casters are basically irrelevant, which is just not at all aligned with my experience with 5.5. At level 9, Fighters get basically legendary resistance. No full caster gets anything like that at that level. At level 11 barbarians just get a free heal when they are reduced to 0 for the first time each rage, which is crazy. They already have crazy hit points, and they get even more with relentless rage. At level 10 Monks are making like 5 attacks every round. Right at level 2, rogues are never going to take an opportunity attack for the rest of the campaign.

I don't know, when I look at the math behind higher level martial characters, they don't seem particularly far behind casters. Full casters have terrible single target damage, especially at higher level. Full casters have fewer hit points, worse armor classes, and less movement options than pure martials do.

The biggest difference is just damage though. A level 17 fighter or barbarian is always going to be doing way more single target damage than a level 17 full caster. And yeah, high level spells are powerful, but sometimes the best solution to a given problem is just to put 250 points of damage into a monster, and there's no way full casters are doing that efficiently.

Also, feats. Pure martials get to take better feats than casters do. The first two feats almost always taken on a full caster are resilient constitution and war caster. You aren't really getting anything interesting until level 12. Meanwhile, martials are taking crazy powerful feats right from level 4.

And if your full casters aren't taking those two feats DM's, just hit them. If their concentration save is a +2, just hit the casters. Then their seemingly overpowered spells will be very quickly seeming a lot more reasonable.

Anyways. That's just something I've noticed on this sub. Lots of people think martial characters are just terrible, and as someone that just finished a level 1-20 campaign alongside a sorcerer and a barbarian, I just don't get it.

What's moving provinces actually like as a disabled person?

I'm 27F, live in Edmonton, and just got my letter saying I'm getting booted off AISH in favor of the ADAP program. ADAP is the new disability program where if you don't get a job, they will just kick you off all disability benefits. I have exactly 1 shot to reapply for AISH, and ultimately a UCP goon gets to decide whether I get AISH or not.

So, now I have two scenarios. Scenario one is that I get back on AISH, and life continues as normal. This option still fucking sucks because being on AISH sucks because Alberta doesn't care about disabled people.

The second scenario is that I lose all provincial funding, and end up with only CPPD to live on, which is like $870 a month. So just not a realistic amount of money to live on.

I have really severe schizophrenia, and moving provinces away from my doctors and my family would be really shitty. But I also don't realistically know how I would survive on just CPPD. I know there are no provinces in Canada where disability benefits are actually sufficient, but like, there has to be some kind of option, right?

I'm on a waitlist for supportive housing here in Edmonton. I can't live alone, I go insane and end up trying to kill myself. The waitlist is about 5 years long. I imagine the story would be similar no matter where in Canada I go. So realistically, I'd be basically homeless if I did move to a different province anyways. But I'm also basically homeless here in Alberta.

But don't worry guys, we're progressive on disability rights cause I'm legally allowed to MAID myself.

Sorry I know this is a rant. But I also am serious about having to move out of Alberta if I lose all my disability benefits. I need to pay for my schizophrenia meds one way or another.

Maybe going back to sexwork is the answer.

One of the stranger exchanges I've had on a dating app.

I matched with a woman on a dating app, and the first and only message she sent me was the following.

"Hey Del

I only matched to let you know

politely to please read people's

Bio. It's not an invitation to just

ignore people's preferences.

Seems to be a trend with folks

lately so I am taking the time to

educate.

Just because l'm a lesbian

does not mean I need to accept

everyone's interest, pleas don't

be predatory and go after WLW

in the community. You need to

behave safely as well, and I

have clearly stated my interests

in my Bio

Hope you find your someone,

take care"

To which I replied

"No where in your profile

does it say your not

interested in trans people

Also, why did you match

with me when it clearly

states I'm trans in my

profile? How is it, in this

situation, that I'm the

predatory one? Is swiping

on people's dating profiles

when they may not be

interested in you

predatory?

I don't care if you're not

interested in me, that's fine

but the holier than thou

message sent after you

clearly mistook me for a cis

woman when you were

swiping comes off a bit

pretentious.

Certainly this is one of the

stranger experiences l've

had on a dating app

Also, no one calls me Del."

File this into the "Trans person gets called a predator for doing something no one would think twice about if it were a cis person doing it" cabinet I guess.

Edit:

She responded with a huge essay about how she thinks all trans women are predators and abusers because she dated an abusive trans person in her past. So I guess we're all guilty of some other trans person's crimes.

Rog Tormod vs Garland

Hey all, I'm trying to build a bracket 4 rakdos storm deck. My current commander is Garland, who is just a nobody from FF that surveils whenever you cast a noncreature. This gives really good card selection and loads up the graveyard for the breach turn.

I run mostly impulse draw so I can empty my hand and wheel for more cards on the storm turn. Breach and Bolas's Citadel are the two big value engines for the deck. I'm usually shooting to win on turn 4 with a huge storm turn. The easiest way to win is haze of rage and storm kiln artist giving infinite mana and storm count, then grapeshot or aetherflux reservoir wins the game.

My question is, is Rog Tormod just better? Rog turns on Culling the Weak and Infernal Plunge turn one, as well as Springleaf drum and Paradise mantle. Tormod makes zombies on the breach turn which can be used with Umbral Collar Zealot and Viscera Sear to load up the yard and filter cards.

Anyways, I linked my work in progress deck list, and I'd appreciate some advice.

I was on the 701 Kingsway on Jasper Ave, sitting at the three sideways seats infront of the back door. The bus stopped, opened the back door, and a very intoxicated woman walked down the stairs, looked at me for 2 seconds, punched me in the face, grabbed my glasses, threw that back at me, then got off the bus.

Specifically, I was on bus #4801, it happened at 18:22, at the 107 St and Jasper Ave bus stop.

The entire ride towards Jasper Ave she was ranting about how she wanted everyone on the bus to kill themselves, over and over again, and after I got off the bus she went into the Tim Hortons across from the Corona LRT station entrance.

I didn't get a good look at her clothes, I only saw her for like 5 seconds. She was indigenous, maybe five foot 6. Dark brown hair. She was very obviously very intoxicated.

I just needed to write this all down so I remember the details when I report it later.
