How did your med - induced IIH start?

Earlier this year I was put on Doxycycline and started having weird symptoms after around two weeks:

- daily nausea accompanied with light sensitivity to the point where I just needed to lay down

- tingling that felt like it was in my skull, especially left sided

I was told by my doctor to stop taking it, but IIH was never mentioned. However the skin condition I have needs to be treated with a tetracycline but I don't want to risk developing intercranial hypertension obviously. How did it start for you guys? Does this sound like IIH to y'all?

Perioral dermatitis/ damaged skin barrier advice

Hey guys! I've been diagnosed with perioral dermatitis on top of a dehydrated damaged skin barrier and acne (all of which started like six months ago after three decades of amazing skin). What panel or mask would you guys advise me to get, what should I watch out for and how do I integrate it into my routine? Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

Red Light Masks/ Panels

Hi! I've been diagnosed with PD and developed acne shortly before AND have a dehydrated damaged skin barrier lol. I'm considering starting red light therapy alongside my spironolactone and MetroCream. What panel or mask should I get, what do I need to watch out for and how do I integrate it into my routine? Or would you advise against it?

Can't take oral antibiotics:(

For several reasons I'm currently unable to take PD relevant antibiotics. It's a mild-ish to moderate case. Did anyone have success with MetroCream only? If so, how long did it take and did you stop every single skincare product or kept using gentle moisturizers etc?

Augmentin (Amoxicillin /clavulanate) experiences? Or amoxicillin only?

Hi! Just been told I have PD by my dermatologist :') because I can't take tetracyclines and Bactrim shouldn't be given with spironolactone that I'm currently on, he prescribed Augmentin which is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate. Does anyone have experience with this? Or perhaps with amoxicillin only? Thanks in advance!

In office procedures?

Hi ❤️ I've been dealing with a super reactive damaged barrier for two months now (never had sensitive skin before). No matter how bland and soothing I keep it, everything seems to make it worse. Now my question is: are there any procedures a dermatologist could do to help? Lasers or anything in that realm? Or would they all make it worse if the barrier isn't fixed first? I reaaally want to get rid of these enlarged pores, red bumps, congestion, dry forehead and redness and be able to enjoy make up again that sits nicely on my skin.

Specialists in the Nashville area

Has anyone seen a dermatologist that specializes in Rosacea in or around Nashville TN? I've been to the two best rated dermatologists on Google that both (as every derm) mention rosacea on their website and they both had no idea what to do with me.

Broken barrier and exfoliation

Help :') I've been trying to restore a reactive broken barrier that may have developed rosacea (flushing even with lukewarm water, red bumps, enlarged pores, new spider veins) for almost two months now. Never had any skin issues before but suddenly came up with inflamed hormonal acne at 30+ and the benzoyl peroxide I got for it is what wrecked my barrier/ potentially unmasked rosacea I think.

I stopped all actives and been only using a gentle cleanser 1x/day, SPF and vanicream (which my skin isn't very happy with). My pores are getting more and more congested. How do I exfoliate them while my skin is so reactive and unhappy? Any ideas?

How do we feel about LED masks?

Newly adult onset hormonal inflamed acne and possibly type 1+2 rosa girlie here. My skin is constantly irritated for two months now and hates every bland moisturizer so far. Possibly because I just moved to the other side of the world-never had skin issues before.

\-What is your experience with LED masks?

\-What has it improved/not helped with/worsened?

\-What model do you use and does it have blue light too?

\-Did you try it on irritated/ possibly damaged skin?

\-How often do you use it?

Thank you ❤️

Azelaic Acid initial worsening? Stop or keep going?

Hi! I've been prescribed generic finacea (AzA 15%) however I feel like the three times I used it (with days in between) I woke up redder than the day before. I used moisturizer first and applied it on top once the moisturizer dried. Should I continue giving it a chance or is this a clear stopping sign?

Also I'm thankful for any hope y'all can give me, this is so tiring :')

Help, texture and redness keep getting worse :')

Long story incoming:

I moved to the US from Europe six months ago at 31yrs, never had skin issues and was always able to tolerate any product, despite using dirty brushes, decade old make up flying around in friends' purses and never checking ingredients ever.

However, some months after coming here, during a big stress surge, I developed terrible inflamed/ hormonal/ cystic acne to the point that makeup didn't stick anymore and I cancelled social events.

A derm prescribed me tret/doxy/benzoyl peroxide. Doxy gave me terrible side effects and I think the BP wrecked my barrier so the derm switched me to 50mg Spiro and gave me Avene Cicalfate- this helped immensely and the breakouts seemed to be under control.

I've also been told to stop all actives and keep it simple to repair my barrier because the derm thought I simply irritated my barrier a bit and "should be fine in 2-3 days".

This was like five weeks ago. I still experience daily flushing from water, sometimes burning, I have red bumps and some red patches, new spider veins around my nose and my pores look huge so I tried generic finacea but feel like it's making it worse. (Both my parents have rosacea and I'm pretty sure that's what's happening.)

Also while the Cicalfate helps I suspect it to clog my pores because they're all black now and I have sebum sticking out all over.

I never had oily skin before but now I do a lot of the time, especially my nose is just wet.

Before I moved I used Vichy purete thermal as a cleanser twice daily, TO niacinamide and L'Oreal revitalift.

Current routine:

AM- wash with lukewarm water, Avene Cicalfate, lrp anthelios tinted SPF 50

PM- vanicream gentle cleanser, vanicream daily moisturizer (I suspect this one is irritating me)

Any ideas how to get rid of the constant irritation, clogged pores, redness and maybe recommendations for a better moisturizer?

Thanks if you read all of this, I'm at my wit's end :') ❤️

[Routine help]texture and redness worsens

I suspect rosacea is involved which my derm denied but she still agreed to prescribe 15% azelaic acid which I tried twice every other night and I think it's gotten worse and my nose started breaking out which it never did before (but it could be from using Cicalfate too long as well).

I never had oily skin before but now I do a lot of the time, especially my nose is just wet.
