"This mod changes an elf."
"Yeah? In what way?"
"I used to be Dunmer!"

"This mod changes an elf." "Yeah? In what way?" "I used to be Dunmer!"

This is Aranea Ienith, the priestess of Azura from Skyrim. And the mod is called "GLAM Aranea".

Some mods doesn't turn Dunmer into Chimer, what could have at least some sense, it just turns them into another generic elves. And the worst thing is that such mods can be included into a compilations or add some animations other mods use, and after an attempt to just turn it off the game crashes. And you spend hours and hours and hours to fix everything.

I know that there could be things much, much worse and much more stupid. I can understand some people who turn Skyrim into one huge meme. I can undestand people who turn Skyrim into souls-like. But this... it's not even fun itself!

P.S. Aranea is gorgeous even in Vanilla, you just need to find a way to remove her hood.

Aela the Huntress cosplay by Chloe Dykstra

For those who don't know: Aela is one of the leaders of the Companions faction in Skyrim and an ardent follower of Hircine. She is the only Companion in the game who will refuse to cure from lycantropy, and she is also the only non-hostile character in the entire game who wears the Ancient Nordic armour.

Aela can also become your follower and prove yourself as a great ranged support fighter, and she is marriable and really popular among the players. However, she becomes spoiled and grumpy after marriage and going to hate every house except for Proudspire Manor.

Meanwhile, this is one of the earliest cosplays - the first photos were made in 2012, probably, even before the Dawnguard release. The cosplayer's name is, again, Chloe Dykstra.

Brelyna Maryon portrait by Kaysclip

Despite being one of the cutest followers and romancable characters in Skyrim, for some reason there re not so much good fanart with Brelyna Maryon. But this portrait made by Kaysclip (Or KAYX, according to nickname on the ArtStation) is one of the best.

For those who doesn't know, Brelyna Maryon is a young dunmer sorceress stydying Conjuration in the College of Winterhold. Although she really dislikes speaking about it, Brelyna comes from a noble family - house Marion is a vassal of the Telvanni. She is cute, gracious, smart, optimistic, loves reading and has a charming voice (but, unlike Mjoll or Lydia, she doesn't speak much, only when it's important).

Even in combat she prefers to stay behind her summons and provide some fire support. Highly recommend you to do her little personal quest and travel with her for some time - you won't regret it. Just be prepared that her appearance and hairstyle are quite exotic.

Again, the author of this art is Kaysclip

Morrowind actually has a lot of parallels with Dune

To prove my words, here is the list of parallels I found:

  • Distant, dangerous, faraway and quite exotic land as the primary setting - check
  • Great Houses, struggling for a rare resource and limited with a strick set of rules ho to contest each other - check
  • Noble savages keeping ancient traditions and disliking the outlanders - check
  • Outlanders arrived to the distant land to mine the exact one rare resource required for the entire empire - check
  • A prophecy of the messiah who will drive the outlanders away from these lands - check.
  • The protagonist becoming a messiah by making other people believe that he is the chosen one and followind their understanding of the prophecy - check
  • Prophetic dreams that the protagonist sees - check
  • Two different moons in the sky - check.
  • >!The messiah did not bring prosperity, but instead breaks the established social structure, with a lot of death and destruction as the result!< - check

Of course, I understand, that Morrowind and Dune are in the different genres, but it's really impressive how much they have in common.

And, by the way, this is not a custom ebony armor set on the image, but a soldier of house Atreides, and this art is made by Remy Paul. Yes, some of the Dunmer armour style is very close to the Dune (even the Lynches adaptation).

What do you think about that? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments!

The only real advantage of the Forsworn armour

Yes, this advantage is fanservice. Even introverted Brelyna looks hot while wearing it.

By the way, does anybody know the author of this comix? I downloaded it about 4 to 5 years ago, but since then Google can't find the author.

In r/skyrim nobody found out who is the author. Maybe, you know?

Nerevarine's nemesis by Stellastra

If you didn't play Morrowind, then say "Hello" to the cliff racers! These creatures fly, have an awful hitbox, able to aggro on you from a huge distance and earned the golden medal for the most disgusting sounds on Vvardenfell. You are going to hate them.

However, when your character gets stronger, and you become able to one-shot these creatures, they stop being a threat and remain just an annoying encounter.

Can't tell the same about greater bonewalkers though.

A cozy landscape of northern Morrowind by Lukkar

Of all Elder Scrolls game, Morrowind has the most exotic and unique atmosphere, making its world truely interesting to explore, especially for the first time, exactly because it's so alien and you have no idea what the developers put into it.

This ladscape is a great example, and it could be even cozier, but the cliff racer got even there. Hate those creatures.

Some eatable ingredients in Morrowind are really weird

I don't know how Nerevarine could survive after eating metal scraps, raw glass or ebonite, but he or she might have an unbreakable esophagus and stomach with sulfuric acid. The more interesting question is how it's all being turned into drinkable potions with only a mortar and a pestle.

The art is probably made by RatoPombo, but I am not completely sure.

House Sadras commoners by Waffles

Sadras became a Great House after the Hlaalu were expelled for treason, and we have very, very little lore about it.

Fun fact: the one and only creation where you can join this Great House or play as them is The Elder Scrolls: Total War mod for old Total War: Medieval 2.

Colovian landscape by Tomhanch

Ayleid ruins are included. Too bad that they are quite boring to explore in The Elder Scrolls IV and are present only there and in ESO (also despite being cities by lore, these ruins look like an obstacle course without any signs that someone was living there).

Which faction has the most beautiful capital?

For me, Elden Root leaves other cities far behind. It has an interesting architecture, it has an amazing design and it's both exotic and familiar at the same moment. Mournhold is on the second place, mostly because of nostalgia. However, my opinion is my opinion, and I would like to know your opinion.

When you are the only player with heroic personality in your group

And the most stupid thing is when the only player with this personality in your group is a Bosmer.

For those who son't know, you get heroic personality for entering the Craddle of Shadows or ruins of Mazzatun for the first time (and you'll have to buy these dungeons in the crown store beforehand), and for some reason exactly this personality makes your character walk and run like a ridiculously absurd gigachad.

Almalexia, Potema and Barenziah by Insant

Those are three of the most famous queens in the history of Tamriel (including Almalexia, she was a Chimer queen before the battle of the Red Mountain). However, I can't say they were kind people (maybe except for Barenziah in her early years), they are contradictory at best.

Magic buddies by LuciferianRising

Actually Brelyna is quite underrated. Her quest is short but fun, and she has an amazing personality: smart, quiet, doesn't talk too much, eager for exploration and prefers to hide behind the Dragonborn and summoned atronachs in combat, so it's very hard to accidentially hit her. Yes, Brelyna is quite squishy, but with her tactics the enemy just won't reach her in most of the cases.

Brelyna is also marriable, by the way, and becomes very caring and loving wife.

Again, the art is made by LuciferianRising, and it's very old.

A Dunmer shepherdess by Aeriyen

Too bad that guars aren't mounts in Morrowind (in fact, Arena and Morrowind are the only The Elder Scrolls game with no mounts at all).

What you do with Valaste at the end of Mages guild questline?

Quisk note for those who son't know or doesn't read the quests: Valaste is the most erudite librarian in Tamriel, and one of the most important character in the Mages quild storyline. She helps you and Shalidor to retrieve the island of Eyevea, where mages could study freely.

And here comes the spoiler alert: >!while you proceed through the Mages guild questline, Valaste has to struggle through Sheogorath writings and progressively goes insane, and at the end of the story Sheogorath offers you to give him Valaste (who went completely crazy to that moment) in exchange for 2 extra skill points.!<

>!I refused to give Valaste to him and decided to cure her. Not because I don't need skill points, but in respect and compassion - for this whole time she had to stay under fire and take the most dangerous mental flak, so the Vestige and Shalidor could succed. She made this heroic sacrifice, so our character could succeed (and in fact, she deserves the title of the main hero of this story more than Shalidor and equally to the Vestige who was fighting the physical threats).!<

>!Leaving Valaste like that feels like a betrayal, so when the game gave me an opportunity to revert all mental damage Valaste got, I've never had one moment for a doubt, because!< without her efforts the Vestige would never step on Eyevea.

But what about you? Share your opinion in the comments!

P.S. The art is from The Elder Scrolls: Legends (RIP)

P.P.S. Valaste is also very cute, but that's not the most important reason to save her.

Sorceress form the cinematics by Kara Kopiara

Despite having a name, she is the most well-known female character from The Elder Scrolls Online. And still we have a question: is she an Altmer or a Bosmer?

Medieval II interface bug issue with rebels and Saxons

I unlocked rebel faction and created a custom battle where a player can pick Saxons, but both of these factions have exactly the same issue - there is no button highlighting allied and enemy units with a faction symbol on it.

I found out, that the game takes this symbols from folder data/menu/symbols/fe_symbols_80, and these images are named as their respectable factions, exactly as they are called in descr_sm_factions.txt

If I change any of already existing symbols, it changes in-game

If I change the files name, the button disappears

If I add an extra file with the same name as faction has in descr_sm_factions, but this faction did not have this button before, nothing changes.

So the question is simple: what am I missing and how to fix this bug?
