What version of VICE C64 to get for Linux Mint?

New Linux user here, trying to port all my old games to Linux. Their page doesn't make it clear, so I thought I'd ask here.

https://vice-emu.sourceforge.io/index.html#download

I've been using VICE since Windows version 2.2, and I don't want to change emulators unless absolutely necessary.

Also, I'd be grateful for any install advice. I want to get everything squared away before I go to create my new Linux drive. Thanks in advance.

Which version to download for Linux Mint?

New Linux user here, attempting to port all my games over to Mint. Not sure which RetroArch version to download based on their Linux install page:

"There are many ways to install RetroArch in a Linux environment. If you can compile it from source, you can remove unneeded features and dependencies. Distro packages can be nice, but we don't control those builds (aside from the official PPAs) and can't guarantee their quality or how often they are updated. Universal packages, such as Snap and Flatpak are maintained by the libretro team but have some limitations resulting from their sandboxing techniques, such as lack of support for Vulkan and a small number of cores not functioning as expected."

Choices include Ubuntu, Arch, Flatpak and Snap Store (which I think I'll avoid, I don't need ads).

Any advice?

Which version should I install for Linux Mint?

New Linux user here, my hardware runs PCSX2 in windows just fine, I just need to know which version to download for Mint, and there's two: AppImage and Flatpak.

The website has the following footnote:

"Distributed via AppImage or Flatpak. Both Wayland and X11 are supported. Major DEs are supported. Although ChromeOS supports Linux applications, PCSX2 offers no official support for ChromeOS."

If there's anything else I should know, please let me know.

Which version of DOSBox should I get for Linux Mint?

Linux first-timer here - I'm getting ready to make a Linux Mint drive, and I want to put as many of my games on it as possible, including everything I have from the DOS days.

I'm used to using DOSBox, so my question is, which version from their download page should I download to run on Mint?

Windows 11 will not let me disable agent activation runtime service

Edit: Never mind, I'm just going to roll back the Windows Update and block it from updating for a month. Maybe whatever they broke will be fixed by then.

Edit 2: Rolling back the Windows Update successfully restored everything back to what it was previously. Definitely the update's fault.

-----------------------

I just went through a windows update, and my system is slow as hell (and it shouldn't be). I updated my display drivers, and no change.

A quick search of Services some some "agentic" BS that I wanted to turn off.

Problem is, it WON'T LET ME. When I select "Disabled", it returns a text box with the error message "The parameter is incorrect".

I tried this for "agent activation runtime dcfcf" and for "GameDVR and Broadcast User Service_dcfcf", and both returned the same error.

Is there any hope of shutting this crap off and getting my speedy computer back, short of rolling back the entire windows update? Or is there something I can do that I've overlooked? I know OS's, but this is getting above my head, and neither DDG nor Google have been any help.

Upper limitation for Linux to recognize hard drive capacity?

[SOLVED]

So, with Windows going to hell, I've been pondering a long time whether to go to linux or not.

It occurred to me that I don't need a new box, just a second HDD to put it on, in a dual-boot configuration, at least until I can get it the way I want it.

That said, are there any hard limitations on the size of a hard disk drive (HDD) that Linux can read? I've seen SATA drives well above 20 TB now, and I don't want to drop cash on a HDD that Linux can't handle (I remember the 2 TB limit in old Windows).

Edit: Thanks to everyone who replied, looks like it's okay to proceed.

Why am I getting ADs for reddit games I've never played?

https://preview.redd.it/nlaf0hbxko7h1.png?width=605&format=png&auto=webp&s=6b71cd813a609336fa11287800137790bfaa74f8

I've never player Common Grounds, and never clicked on it. Yet, I'm getting this message in my Recent Posts lists, and the link on the left for Common Grounds somehow shows I've used it, and I know I haven't. What the hell is going on with Reddit? Why is Reddit showing me this garbage, and how can I stop it?

If you don't buy every year, your account is locked out

Just went to Amazon to purchase a disability aid, and I logged in with my password, and it said it was sending me a code via email. No problem there.

It never sent the code. Three re-sends, still nothing.

So, I call tech support. Found out my account had been locked out due to inactivity, and there is NOTHING tech support can do to fix it. They said I needed to make a new account. They could not force the system to send the code.

And in order to proceed with a new account, you MUST send Amazon a video selfie.

FUCK AMAZON. This is bullshit. If they don't want me as a customer, them fuck them, I'll shop elsewhere. Walmart doesn't require this bullshit. Fuck Amazon trying to become Palantir.

They just lost about $100 today, and any money they would have made on me for the rest of my life. May Amazon go bankrupt and Bezos be stripped of everything. I'd rather buy local.

Edit: I just checked my email, and the last time I ordered from Amazon was 6 months ago November 2025). THEY LIED. They're doing this JUST TO GET THE SELFIE.
