I absolutely loved SLA 1-3, but getting into RoW feels so… odd?
I feel such a disconnect to the characters after the year time skip, Kaladin keeps referencing things that happened over the year and it’s like ??? sure I guess that happened. And I’m not going to lie, I’m not a fan of Shallan’s switching between Radiant and Veil constantly - it felt like at the end of Oathbringer she kinda came to terms with it so I thought it wouldn’t be as impactful or at the forefront of RoW, however, the personality switching seems even more prevalent.
But I also feel like the overall mystical aspect of Radiants has disappeared, now that each order has hundreds of radiants and squires, suddenly it feels… not as important? If everyone is special, no one is special, sorta deal.
That’s just my thoughts, and I’m quite upset I’ve hit this point.
Hi all,
I’ve recently been promoted to manage a small and new team within the business. I’ve never been a manager before in a corporate setting.
Our general workload is helping other business units throughout the UK with project bids and tenders.
Autumn is a strangely quiet time for us, I know there will be work in the coming weeks but during the weeks where no new projects come in, I don’t really know what to provide for my team. Especially my apprentice, who is still in his first year so I don’t feel like I can just throw him into doing menial jobs by himself just yet, he’s still in the learning phase of our methods of working.
I’ve made sure they’re caught up with training, our file systems are still new so there’s not a huge amount to organise, we’ve gone through all the previous projects and talked about how to improve our outputs (we help with providing CAD based solutions for other teams).
I think any advice from managers who have been through this sort of thing would be great. Thank you!
Hey all,
I’m running the first chapter of Stonewalkers on Wednesday, and I was wondering if your players cared about Taszo? Those that have played know that he dies at the end of the chapter. The characters who arrive at the Crossroads at the same time as Taszo will have known him for a couple of weeks at that point. But the players will have only known him for a few minutes. By the time he runs into the Highstorm, which is an expected 1.5 hours of playtime into the game, I’m worried the players won’t care enough to think about following him in. Obviously there’s an outcome where they don’t follow him, but I’m then questioning how I’ll get the info about Liss to them.
Any advice/knowledge from other GMs would be great
I know it’s grammatically correct. I know we used to use it in Old English. But man people online who will exclusively use it sound so pretentious and ‘quirky’. To me it feels like people use it as a small attention seeking device in online spaces, so people will be like “why are you using that weird character?” And then they can act smart and explain it and why it’s correct to use.
Idk to me it’s cringe and pointless.
I know I’m the 500000th person complaining but I’m just so frustrated every time I see the forecast change from “tolerable mid 20s” to “yep back to 30s” for the next week.
I’m so tired of it. I’m just so TIRED in general. I’m on SSRIs that make me dehydrate and sweat easier than usual, if it’s above 22 degrees in my room when I’m trying to sleep I’ll just wake up in a pool of sweat and thirsty multiple times a night. Trying to concentrate on work is futile, and going outside to do anything productive turns into a massive chore. Every task is headache inducing and irritating.
Okay rant over, I miss autumn and winter.
After finishing the Sanderlanche in Words of Radiance (S+, no notes, great ending), I still feel a bit burnt out from Stormlight Archive, and seeing the length of Oathbringer, it’s kinda daunting to feel like I’m starting fresh in a way.
I’m also really wanting to start Mistborn, as I’ve heard both Era 1 and 2 are amazing.
Is Oathbringer worth getting over the burn out sooner rather than later before starting a new series?
Edit: thanks all for the insights :) think I will read Warbreaker next, see how long that takes me, if I’m still feeling daunted then I’ll do an author cleanse and read something totally different on my reading list. Also I promise never to abbreviate Stormlight Archive as SA again 😭
Hi all, I’m currently planning on doing an online campaign where we will use Foundry as the VTT. Unfortunately one player only has access to mobile devices or a tablet rather than a functioning laptop.
We were planning to use discord as the voice communication method, and wondered if it was a good idea to have one Player stream the VTT window and have the GM (myself) move the players token around. Or if there is a better way to approach this issue
