Zoom is not working with Ethernet, but with Wifi

I have an issue: the Zoom app works great with Wi-Fi, but I want to use Ethernet for a more stable, higher-speed internet connection.

When I plug in the Ethernet cable, all other apps work fine except Zoom. In Zoom, the stats show 0 kb/s (send) and roughly 133 kb/s (receive). Because bandwidth is completely 0 kb/s, incoming video feeds from other participants go completely black, but the audio works. Every 5 minutes or so, I get a message: 'Your connection is unstable.'

I tested the bufferbloat grade, and it was A+ (the latency does not increase under load). Things I tried include switching the network profile from public to private, and I verified that Zoom video conferencing is allowed on both public and private networks in Windows Defender Firewall.

What could be the issue?

DAE starts saying jokes when they’re nervous?

If I have a presentation coming up, I have to meet new people, or I’m completely lost trying to understand something, I start making jokes and smiling to ease the situation, even if no one else does.

Which grade to have before withdrawing?

Taking a professor who graduated from a maximum security trash academy and that’s his second semester teaching. So harsh like I stole his wife. I’m between D and F. Should I withdraw? or bet my GPA for a curve?

I like meat well done.

I always feel weird when I see people eat their meat medium-rare or rare. To me, it just looks raw and uncooked. When meat is well-cooked, it kills all the bacteria and gets nice and crunchy. I tried medium-rare once, and I felt like a lion eating its prey alive! For the best taste, get it well-done.

Tech panel Q&A are a joke.

Most of these virtual or in-person panels made by tech companies, give you generic, useless advice you can find if you ask ChatFreakingPT about it.

They ignore specific high-quality questions like panicking in the job market, survivorship, and what a career actually means. If you’re a professional please stop giving lazy, safe, and completely irrelevant advice. We want the truth and we want some tips to survive.

“Be positive, be curious, be confident, be passionate” - WHAT! 2 hours on that. Let me do my operating system homework instead.

It genuinely feels like telling a person injured on a battlefield to just “relax, take it easy” instead of calling a doc.

DAE watch videos or listen to jokes twice to understand them?

My brain never understood that from the first time I have to think about a joke or rewatch a video to get it. In interactions sometimes I’m slow because I cannot find the funny part lol.

Why do Japanese creators love using alternate universes and timelines so much? (Anime & Games)

I just finished watching the 1995 anime movie Ghost in the Shell.

I learned that it has 5 different alternate universes and timelines using the same characters. I notice that Japanese media loves doing this! For example, Nintendo (The Legend of Zelda) and Capcom (Mega Man) do this with their video games all the time.

I find this very interesting. I would love to know:

Why do you think Japanese creators prefer making alternate universes instead of one long, connected story?

Looking for a Reddit where people decide for me

You present multiple things and they decide for you. With a preference for a good choice. Because in life we meet a lot of these choices and it’s pretty hard to figure them out on your own. So let people figure it out for you.

Looking for a subreddit for a message to the future

A place where people write things to future Redditors or themselves and people can look back and read them. It would be cool if it exists!

I wanna cry

After leaving Duolingo for two months because I lost my streak due to an emergency, I received an email from Duolingo that I could revive it. I immediately redownloaded the app, and now I have it!
