I work as a security guard in a city I will leave unnamed for the privacy of the deceased. I work at a shopping center and transit center combined with a ferry depot. I had just gone on my lunch break and I heard the call over the radio everyone has feared for years now. "Base to all officers, report to the back promenade, ferry personnel have reported a dead body in the water".

I had just gotten my food and sat down. I had eaten about three fries and was about to dig into my hot dog. My fellow officer and I sprang up and ran downstairs onto the back promenade to see an elderly woman, bloated and in rigor mortis, floating face up in the water in front of one of the restaurants located on our waterfront.

I stood there looking down into the water at this woman in her mid 70's. Bloated but barely decomposed. Her left arm at a right angle and her fist clenched upright. On her face she had a grimmace. But what I remember most is her hair flowing in the water. It floated there, drifting left to right. I couldnt look away.

I immediatedly called my supervisor and asked him if he wanted us to clear off the promenade and restrict access to the area, to which he said yes evacuate the area. I cleared the whole area off with some difficulty. Some people think their right to walk is more important than respecting emergency response as the fire department and police had already shown up at this point.

People kept trying to get in and take pictures and videos and I kept having to kick them out. At one point a couple guys tried to force their way back onto the promenade. I told them they needed to get back to the sidewalk right fucking now. They demanded to be let through. I told them they needed to have some fucking respect and clear the fuck out. They threatened to knock me out. Told them to leave property and eventually they did after bitching and moaning some more. People kept coming back and trying to take pictures and just generally be insensitive. I almost crashed out and lost my composure.

For hours afterward I was totally messed up and stressed out. This was not the only thing that had happened this day. We had multiple trespassing/theft issues and multiple medical emergency issues this same day. It has so far been the most insane day at work I have ever had. This isnt even totally abnormal its just more insane than the rest.

About a pint came from the frame and the rest from the crankcase. There was about 2oz from the filter. Theres no leak and im not really burning an abnormal amount of oil. Where the hell did all my oil go? A change was done only 1500mi ago and i even topped up the oil by 400ml last week

Its been 1500 miles since my last oil change and my dip stick was basically totally dry. I had to top it up with 300ml of oil to get it to register. I could hear my timing chain clicking my oil was so low. I am planning on doing an oil change very soon, but my oil is still relatively good and not too dark. Do you guys top up your oil between changes or just change it as soon as it gets low?

I have familial hypercholesterolemia. A few years ago i tested quite high. So i made changes. Theyre entirely unsustainable and making my life hell, Im so sick of this damn diet. I want pepperoni pizza, meatball provolone subs, big greasy quesadillas, mac and cheese, chocolate milk, ice cream, cookies, croissants, mozzarella sticks, grilled cheese, and all the other delicious filling so heavenly decadent fatty foods I can no longer eat. At first i tried going cold turkey, cutting out meats and heavily limiting cheeses. I just ended up finding myself eating rice and beans every day, and things similar. My diet was hollow and unsatisfying. I made some concessions and started eating cheese again but almost no meat. My cholesterol shot way up. I just can’t keep up with this shit anymore. My life feels bland and pointless without my comfort foods. Im only 26 years old. It feels like my life is already over. Its just not living if I can’t eat well. I try to go for the low fat items and watch my saturated fat but everything tastes totally bland and unsatisfying without it. At this point if it means dying at 60 instead of 80 im just gonna say fuck it and go back to how things were. I can’t live like this anymore.

I sold my ultra bee and got a gas bike. I am not partial to gas bikes and am never gonna be one of those shitheads that says "GaS iS BETtER!!1111!". Gas and electric are both awesome and I love them both still. There are two big reasons why I've left e-motos behind (for now).

First reason is the fact there are no good affordable USA street legal e-motos out there. I'm sick of riding dirty. Companies like zero produce bikes that are too heavy and just generally not fast enough to justify their price tags. They're anti right to repair and have basically zero aftermarket. Stark is amazing but its very very expensive (rightfully so, its on par with its gas competitiors in terms of both price and performance). I do not think the stark is overpriced, its just too expensive for me. Upcoming e-motos like dust, bonnell, etc etc are all gonna be offroad only. Any affordable street legal e-motos such as the niu xqi3 and caofen f80 are butt ugly and have really mid specs. There are simply no companies producing affordable mid-weight ultra bee competitors that are also factory usa street legal. So instead, I bought an older suzuki drz400s for $3250. Just more practical and affordable, albiet not super fast. My friend's fully built ultra bee still smokes every bike on the road under 700cc.

Second reason is what the community has become. Back when I first got into e-motos in 2023, nobody had them. The only people who had access to them are the older crowd that rode safe and generally kept the community nontoxic and mature. Around the 2024 mark, kids younger and younger began getting into these bikes. At first I was impressed and happy that 16/17 year olds were getting out and being active. They fit in with the existing e-moto community well. They were respectful and mature. But since then, kids younger and less mature began buying e-motos and making the community toxic and immature. Now all the 14 year old tiktok kids riding around with no front brake and a bicycle helmet swerving cars, then taunting the cops are the lions share of this community. Its just become something I can no longer identify with as a 26 year old man with a full time career. Then finally, the fixie bike kids started buying e-motos. You know, the ones that ride 29ers and swerve grandmas on sidewalks. They began to take those same stupid reckless stunts and do them on e-motos. Thats what pushed me over the edge. I can no longer bear to be a part of this. Its just become flooded with the wrong crowd.

I would seriously love one day for the community to grow up and become respectable like the gas motorcycle community has. I used to go to all the rideouts and loved every second of it. But now I see little kids on e-motos and just think that its too far gone.

Upon aggressive acceleration from takeoff my '06 DRZ400S tends to skip back into neutral from 2nd when upshifting. It doesn't happen when I'm accelerating leisurely, it only happens when I'm trying to take off as quick as possible. It doesnt happen when downshifting. I'm definitely shifting properly, it just kicks right back out of 2nd into neutral and I only know because it revs up hard and throws the neutral light on. It also sometimes sticks in neutral when stopped and I have to roll forward or back to get it to click down. The oil is clean and has no shavings in it. The previous owner I bought it from a month ago mentioned no problems like this, and I tend to believe him because he owns a mechanic shop and has been working on DRZ's for a long time, as well as daily rides on. What do you think this could be? I sincerely hope its not gonna be a bottom end rebuild.

I have a Sedici Viaggio, it lifts HARD after 40 mph making highway speeds immensely uncomfortable and frankly scary. I need a budget helmet (under $300 preferably) that doesn't push up. I want to keep to the dualsport aesthetic but I'll grab a street style helmet if necessary. I really do not want to be dropping a 1/3 of the price of my bike on a helmet.

I lost one of the airbox cover dzus pins and can’t find adequate replacements anywhere. Is there anything i can use as an alternative?

I'm not going to be the type of person to crap on electric now that I have a gas bike. However I just find myself riding my gas bike almost exclusively. I bought a 2006 DRZ400S with a full Yoshimura RS-3 exhaust system and a 3x3 mod. It pulls incredibly hard in 2nd gear, much harder than I thought. I just find myself falling in love with it. I love my ultra bee so much, but it just feels a bit too light. I like a slightly heavier bike. Maybe I'm just in the honeymoon period. I can't really financially justify having two bikes at the moment so I may just sell. What do you guys think?

I'm 5'11" with a roughly 33" inseam. I can easily flatfoot a ktm 390 enduro as well as a surron ultra bee (18/21 wheelset). Will I be able to flatfoot a DRZ 400S? I know for sure I can flatfoot an SM but I have yet to have an opportunity to sit on the S model.

I live in San Francisco. I own a Surron Ultra Bee and am about to buy a Suzuki DR-Z 400SM in a few days. I would absolutely love to own more gas bikes but the fact that CHP is so anal about registration has prevented me from buying the real bikes I want. The nearest OHV areas to me are Carnie and Hollister, which are both almost a two hour drive away. I don't have a truck and can't afford one. The cost of the truck itself isn't even the obstacble, I can't afford the cost to park the damn thing. Its $400/mo to park a car where I'm at. I pay $200 alone for my damn ultra bee.
