Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat v0.1 just released into Early Access. A Global Supply-Chain Sim: developed solo, and published by MicroProse.

Hi r/tycoon,

Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat has just released into Early Access after about 2 years of development!

As an avid fan of games like Satisfactory, Anno 1800, Cities Skylines, and Dyson Sphere Program, I set out to build the game that I always wanted to play. Expansive supply-chains without the burden of combat or micromanaging citizens. Just you, raw material, some factories, and the volatile market!

It is available now on PC!

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAJcyVVHABg

I think the trailer speaks for itself, but detailed core features are on the Steam page, and detailed additions for v0.1 are in the DevLog.

Most additions with this update revolve around new mining colonies on the moon!

My Global Supply-Chain Sim "Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat" enters Early Access on September 8th, 2026!

Hi r/tycoon

I wanted to share with you this little trailer for Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat. It basically tells you that FD will be available on Steam in Early Access on September 8th!

In Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat, you manage a company across a 3D hex globe featuring 105 real countries and unions. Each has its own market, taxes, resource fertilities, and workforce demands. I tried to make the supply chains feel realistic. You navigate global geography and politics to secure resources for large-scale projects like a new continent in the Pacific, a space elevator, a space station, and as you can see on the roadmap, eventually much of our Solar System.

Published by MicroProse, and entering Early Access on September 8th!

If any of that interests you, you can check out the Steam Page where I go into much further detail.

Thanks!

-Chett

Space Station, Trade Fleets, Mixed Cargo, & Achievements! Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat Pre-Release 0.0.9 - Made in Godot 4.3!

Hi r/IndieGaming

Sharing my latest progress on Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat!

Highlights:

  • Build a Space Station! Ultima Mundi Phase 4 can now be completed. The captured asteroid used as a counter-weight on the space elevator was making the world nervous. Uncle Ian wants to replace it with a much more aesthetic and functional "Space Station".
  • 4 new items added to complete Phase 4.
  • Trade Routes completely rebuilt with fleets, mixed cargo, rerouting, and editing.
  • Research Menu rebuilt from scratch.
  • Resource Assignment Panel Overhaul
  • 125 Steam Achievements added
  • Major optimization, UI polish, balance changes, and bug fixes!

How many achievements is too many? (From 1,500 down to 125)

Hey r/tycoon,

I'm looking for opinions from fellow management and simulation fans regarding achievements.

Since tycoon games naturally have a lot of moving parts and milestones, it is easy for a list of achievements to get too long.

  1. At what point does the game start feeling like achievement bait? (Is there a number that makes you roll your eyes?)

  2. Does the total number of achievements affect whether or not you buy a game?

  3. Would a long list actively deter you from buying a game?

  4. What types of milestones do you actually enjoy earning? (ex. "Sell 1,000,000 cigars", "Do this thing without using this other thing", "Do a think you normally wouldn't do specifically to get this achievement.", etc.)

For context, I'm a solo dev working on an economy/trade sim. I originally outlined 1500 achievements, but trimmed that down to 125. I am trying to make sure that the final list feels rewarding rather than bloated or cheap.

I would love to hear from tycoon players and completionists, as well as any devs willing to share their philosophy.
