Traveling Georgia & Armenia | August 8th to August 15th

Hi everyone!

I’m a 19-year-old guy from Switzerland (M19) planning a trip through the Caucasus this summer, and I'm looking for a travel buddy to explore together!

The Route:

Starting Point: Tbilisi, Georgia 🇬🇪

Destination: Yerevan, Armenia 🇦🇲

Dates: August 8 - August 16 2026

About the Trip & Me:

I am heavily fascinated by Soviet modernism, brutalism, and abandoned relics, and I'm looking for a like-minded travel buddy to join me!

The plan is to rely primarily on trains—including the legendary Soviet-era international overnight rail line—to hop between cities and track down some of the most striking monuments in the Caucasus.

I'm looking for someone around my age group to share the journey, split some transport/accommodation costs if it makes sense, or just meet up for a meal and explore the cities together.

If you happen to be in Georgia or Armenia during these dates and want to team up, feel free to shoot me a message or comment below! :)

Route:
📍 Start: Tbilisi, Georgie
📍 Ziel: Yerevan, Armenie

Visiting Abkhazia 2026

Hello :)

I'm planning to visit Abkhazia later this year and would like to cross the border from Georgia. Is this possible for an EU citizen, or are there any restrictions I should be aware of? I've heard that the border is closed, is this true?

Thanks

Traveling from Vilnius to Minsk

I'm a 19-year-old traveler from Switzerland and I'm thinking about visiting Minsk soon. The city looks beautiful and really interesting, but honestly I'm a bit nervous about traveling there alone for the first time.

I have a couple of questions for people who have visited recently or live there:

  • Is Minsk generally safe for a solo traveler?
  • Can I pay normally with a Swiss debit card (Visa/Mastercard), or should I bring a lot of cash?
  • Do apps like Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, and other social media work normally there?
  • Is there anything important I should know before visiting as a foreign tourist?

Thank you :)
