Built in 1941-42 this Telechron mantle clock still spins away!

I did have a bit of a oops moment as I was putting it on a shelf and I caught it with my body however with the exception of a *tiny* scratch in the face it is still mostly functional. It’s missing the hammer for the chime and I think I need to oil or repair something as it doesn’t chime at the right hour but still works!

A little broken but still beautiful 1941-42 Telechtron 6B13 1 of 6105 sold

Unfortunately I somehow broke the glass on my first day of ownership which absolutely crushed my soul but it’s otherwise in pristine condition and still mostly works. The chime needs some work but it still holds time true

Telechtron Electric mantel clock. Tries to chime but doesn’t strike the bell, wrong amount of chimes for the hour

I just got this wonderful little clock from a good friend of mine and after a very quick internal inspection of the wiring and coil I decided to plug it in to happily see the second hand start moving. I unplugged it and set the hour hand to the 12 o’clock position and it tried to chime but failed to strike the bell. From what I can assume I believe the striker mechanism is free to hit the bell but for some reason can’t and when it does try I can hear a very faint sound that I can only describe as a very soft “chunk” a few times

Need help with excessive oil burning with a 2010 HHR 2.2 LT

First of yes I know this isn’t a cobalt but this does use the same chassis and engine and the HHR subreddit is locked so here I am!

I’ve noticed that after I let my car idle for any more then around 5 minuets that when when I began driving again it smokes a lot out of the tail pipe with a dark grey sooty smoke.

I’m not completely surprised if my engine is simply worn out or damaged but I do have a few errors that I’ve scanned from the OBD system that indicate fault from PCV and other emissions related issues (those ones I believe are due to a bad fuel cap) but is this normal for a HHR with 242200 miles and if it’s possible is there a way I could mitigate the oil consumption or fix it through and through

Strange power fluctuations….

I’m currently in Barnstable and it appears that the power is almost going out and flickering periodically. Was there a car wreck some where near by that could be to blame?
