“Beatles Girls” Singing Beatles' Hits - Beatles Girls, 1966

During the production of Revolver in mid-1966, Brian Epstein reportedly became concerned that the group’s increasingly experimental sound could alienate part of their younger pop audience. According to EMI studio rumors, the Beatles briefly agreed to assemble a companion “bridge” album intended to ease fans from the Beatlemania years into the more sophisticated direction of Revolver.

Inspired by American vocal groups such as The Ronettes and The Miracles, the idea evolved into a full LP featuring interpretations of Beatles songs performed by Pattie Boyd, Cynthia Lennon, Maureen Starkey and Jane Asher. Alongside helping promote Revolver, the project was also intended to present the women surrounding the Beatles as creative personalities (Cynthia drawings in the back cover) in their own right rather than simply public figures of the Beatlemania phenomenon.

Produced by Mickie Most and Terry Melcher, and engineered by Geoff Emerick, “Beatles Girls Singing Beatles' Hits” was released by Parlophone in October 1966 as a promotion piece to Revolver.

Every girl gets to sing lead on at least one song (mentioned on the tracklisting). All song have backing vocals/harmonies by the rest of the group, and when mentioned more than one girl means a lead part it's sang by two or more girls. The order of the names shown represents who sings more parts/principal singers on songs

When did Bob become old?

I have a playlist called uncle Bob, where I have all of my favourite songs from when I’d consider Bob to be older. The cut off I’ve always considered for this was the time out of mind sessions onwards and I’m guessing that’s what most people would also say.

However, I went to add some stuff from tell tale signs to this playlist, but I realised they came from the oh mercy sessions. Since then, I’ve been trynna figure out if I could consider oh mercy onwards the point where Bob was older. Lots of the themes I associate with older Bob emerged in oh mercy and lots of songs (e.g. most of the time and born in time), feel very older Bob coded and tell tale signs begins in 1989. But at the same time 48 isn’t really old and I don’t think good as I been to you or under the red sky or the mtv concert feel like older Bob.

Just curious to see what yall think about this.
