First play through looking for an average build

I don’t like making games too easy by picking an inconspicuous weapon that happens to be a moveset buster. Like how the kusarigama in Nioh 1 makes the game quite a bit easier cause the range trivializes a lot of the boss moves. Are there any like that I should avoid or are all weapons pretty standard.

If you play soulslike games for combat you should genuinely try Where Winds Meet on legendary

NOT A SOULSLIKE
Please don’t kill me I know but this game was Sekiro level difficult in terms of boss fights if you’re playing on legendary. The rest of the world and story is pretty easy but the world bosses on legendary are some of my favorite bosses in any game. I am a huge huge soulslike enthusiast and I would recommend this to anyone who plays for combat.

Unpopular opinion on Nine Tails

Don’t crucify me but I actually quite like the nine tails boss fight. I’m overall happy when the final boss is different and somewhat unique compared to other bosses. I think what’s actually disappointing is that Toyotomi is easier than every other good dlc boss. Not that he’s super easy but he’s easier than Masamune, Yukimura, and Maria. So it doesn’t feel like you get what you’re looking for in a final mission. I also realize that’s why a lot of people don’t like the nine tails, because it was pretty easy, but if Toyotomi had been strong enough I don’t think people would care too much.

I’m like 20 levels under recommended level, it hasn’t really been a problem but I’m wondering if it’ll be a problem once I start dlc cause it’s a lot harder.
