I needed to write this down because I finally understand why I viscerally dislike him compared to his book counterpart. It's not because of Matt Smith, he does a great job at bringing the character to life.

But it's the whole, "Targaryen blood purity" nonsense that Daemon in the show seems to believe. It's sleazy and icky. Off putting, especially given in the books Daemon showed none of that. He was still a ruthless, brutal pedophile groomer but he could also be witty and tactically moderate in his thinking.

Another thing that I dislike is how the show makes it out that him and Rhaenyra are TRUE LOVE. The books never had anything like that; in fact it was ambiguous if Daemon loved Rhaenyra or was just using her for her claim to the throne. Instead, we have the supportive male wife who is utterly devoted to his Queen!

Show!Daemon is all or nothing. There's no middle ground like book!Daemon had. So the fact that he's the most beloved character on the show is just...stupid. Especially given all of the fans he has who have an unhealthy obsession with him. He would look at them as less then dirt in the show, given they aren't "pure blooded Valyrian".

The fact the show also makes the Targaryens out to be some kind of enlightened atheists who don't worship the Seven at all is weird. Aegon the Conqueror was anointed by the High Septon, and even if Rhaenyra and Daemon didn't believe in the Seven the monarchs still at least paid lip service to the Faith all the same.

Also the way that some of the actors - I don't think they do this intentionally - insult anyone who is TG in promos or interviews by saying you have to be insane to support them, this and that yadda yadda - doesn't help either.

I've got 2 combat jobs to 100 and all 3 gatherer jobs to 100 but i can't seem to figure out how to make money. I'm sub 1 mil gil and hurting bad for cash. Some people tell me to "gather maps" but you can only gather one treasure map at a time and at least on the server I am on (Zalera), I can only sell them for about 30 - 40k. Am I missing something?

Aegon is the first born son of the King. Thousands of years of custom and tradition dictates that HE is the next in line for his father's throne. Targaryen rule while young also had the same precedent. Hell even pre-Conquest Targaryens; Aegon(the Conqueror) became Lord of Dragonstone even though Visenya was the older of the two.

But the show tries to make Aegon's claim "Viserys mumbled his name in a dream" - like, why??? I get that the show wants us to see Rhaenyra as the good guy and Aegon as the bad guy but ....it just boggles the mind. You can argue that Rhaenyra has a valid claim too which she does, but for the show to deliberately try and turn Aegon's claim into a joke is the problem I have. Both sides have totally 100% valid claims.

Not from Ottawa(Niagara resident here) but I help to support a cat rescue in the Ottawa area, and they are looking for permanent fosters for their cats, in particular two cats that need a new foster home or (ideally) a permanent home within the next two weeks.
