Getting Started and Succeeding with the low vitamin A Diet
ggenereux.blogYSK too much vitamin A is scientifically linked to intracranial pressure.
I take 200, 000 IU Vitamin A a day. Am I in danger?
I just love the way my skin looks on it. So smooth, no oiliness, small pores, almost no breakouts. I've been taking 200, 000 IU daily for 4 months, labs show everything is fine. I don't get many side effects, mostly somewhat dry eyes, some peeling in the lips and back pain. Should I be concerned if the bloodwork is good? I'm thinking of running it for 6 more months then going on 30, 000 IU a day.
Losing a Checkmate-The Vitamin A Lie (Part 2)
medicinegirl.substack.comSome of the Low-vitamin-A diet proponents change their focus. (nickel & copper)

>Garrett Smith with his low nickel low Vitamin A low copper diet is now allowing up to 1,000 IUs of Vitamin A from dairy and claiming it's still a low vitamin A diet. Which is what we've been saying all along that it's no impediment to resolving Vitamin A toxicity. So whether it's 1-2 eggs a day and some dairy or mostly dairy for calcium it still works at restoring health. I think he'll find the dairy with more Vitamin A helps the leaky gut and all sorts of symptoms of elevated lipopolysaccharides will dissipate. Only took 4 years and some sense is now emerging. Dairy isnt toxic any more and neither are eggs. It was clear to many intelligent people and practitioners at least 3 years ago. He should have listened to us rather than censoring discussion. My group didn't run into so many problems. What a waste of time !

The Silent Danger of a Liver Diet: Feline Hypervitaminosis A Explained
youtube.comAfter RFK Jr. recommends vitamin A as a measles treatment, some Texas patients show signs of toxicity
https://x.com/DittiePE/status/2042560976784945407
>Children in Lubbock, Texas were admitted to the hospital with liver damage. Not from measles. From vitamin A toxicity — because their parents followed RFK Jr.’s advice and gave them cod liver oil to treat measles. He is the sitting U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. This is not the first time this has happened. In 2019, RFK Jr. traveled to Samoa and ran the same anti-vaccine campaign. Vaccination rates dropped to 31%. Five months later: 5,700 cases. 83 dead. Most of them children under 4. He called it a “natural experiment.” The Senate confirmed him as HHS Secretary anyway

Tried megodosing Vitamin A for acne
Tried megodosing Vitamin A
I am considering going on isotretinoin but I'm concerned about side effects so I decided to take some vitamin A for 2 weeks to see what the sides would be. I took 30, 000 IU vitamin A for 2 weeks. 30, 000 is a bit lower than the low end of Vitamin A dosages prescribed to treat acne before big pharma created accutane and started charhing extra for what's basically one of the isomers of Vitamin A. If you don't believe me, here's a source . 30, 000 IU would thus be similar to 10-20mg accutane.
I experienced:
Drier skin Drier lips (especially at first) Pressure headache/pressure behind eyes and nose. Relatively mild but unpleasant. Really lazy eyes (needed extra effort to focus) + eye dryness A bit of nausea A bit of pain in random places No breakouts
It was unpleasant and concerning given the pressure headache. The sides went away a couple of days after I stopped. All of these side effects resemble the side of effects of Accutane. I am not sure if it would be safe for me to be like this for 6 months if I were to start Accutane.
For people that say "go to a derm they know everything and tell you if it's safe for you". No they don't. In fact, most of them will say Accutane is safe. My main concern here is the pressure headache, which could indicate intracranial hypertension. I had similar side effects on doxycycline but with pulsating pain in the ears and some temporarily weakened peripheral vision , which I had to stop as a result. Also considered a safe drug by derms.
A new theory
Happy new year, I'm sure lots here reexperienced the effect.
There's a new theory on the causation of this effect: impaired liver detox + hyper-vitaminosis A
There's this engineer Grant Genereux who had a miraculous health transformation after realizing he had toxic levels of vit. A. He has a blog and wrote a few ebooks on the topic. The theory of vitamin A toxicity causing health problems is huge on forums outside reddit.
How does this tie into the HO effect?
Retinoic acid is an alcohol (extremely unusual for a vitamin), so ethanol dumps it from the liver into the blood and it leaves the body with the ethanol after a half-dozen to dozen hours. So while you're drunk you might not feel great, but later feel relief as the burden of retinoids is reduced in the body.
The active form of vit. A, retinoic acid, is the same exact compound as Accutane. And I'm sure you've heard of the horror stories from people who used that.
What could be done about this?
Improving liver function: Dietary oxalates are a major liver burden, I highly recommend reading Sally K Norton's 'Toxic Superfoods'.
Look up the side effects of accutane, do you have any? These symptoms are the same ones as hyper-vitaminosis A. If yes going on an experimental low vit. A diet could be interesting: Grant has been on this diet for more than a decade and proved that it's not an essential compound, at least for him. Red meat contains nearly zero vit. A and is fine, it's eating liver that's the main problem.
Stop using retinol PSA
I did not know retinol serums can impact IIH. Stop using retinol. The echoes in my head have eased up considerably three days after stopping rx retinol.
I had no idea this was even an issue with retinol creams but yeah. Wow. (Vitamin a derived creams can be an issue.)

[PSA] Retinol products can cause strange side effects
I’ve been trying to use various topical otc retinol products and prescription tretinoin on and off for years, but every time like clockwork I eventually develop light sensitivity, my vision worsens, and then get pressure headaches that never fade.
When I stop the product, the symptoms go away so I know it’s definitely the retinol.
Other people on Reddit ask/comment about this, but they are often denied and told they are crazy. There’s other pockets of people on other communities who have had the same problem.
I’m just making this post to spread some kind of awareness.
In certain populations/types of people retinol can induce systemic side effects. There’s just not enough studies that have tried capturing them.
