social/political vibe in cape question

I’m potentially moving to Cape Girardeau for a job and wanted to get a better feel for the area from people who actually live there.

For context, I’m a liberal person and personal freedoms are important to me, particularly things like abortion rights and marriage equality. I’m coming from the Deep South, so I’m definitely not unfamiliar with living somewhere more conservative, but I’m curious how noticeable the political/religious culture is in everyday life in Cape.

I’m also not religious and don’t love being around heavy christianity, so I’d especially love to hear from people who are liberal/left-leaning, nonreligious, LGBTQ+, or just generally not very involved in that side of things.

I’m not expecting Cape to be a liberal bubble or anything. I’m just trying to figure out whether I’d feel comfortable socially and whether these differences are something you notice in everyday life.

p&g assessment hell

i recently applied to a position at p&g which required an appointment assessment. it was one of the behavioral one that seems to have no wrong answers or if there are “wrong” answers it shouldn’t be something that disqualifies you from a job. i got this response almost immediately. i’m confused, this is a job i am extremely qualified for and would like to be considered for. is there anything i can do?

Need Help Getting a Feral Cat Spayed

Hi everyone! I'm posting on behalf of a coworker who's trying to help a feral cat in the Shreveport/Bossier area.

The cat appears to have cerebellar hypoplasia ("wobbly cat syndrome"), but it's getting around and doing well overall. Right now, the biggest priority is getting the cat spayed as soon as possible to prevent kittens.

The cat is feral and hasn't been vaccinated, so we're looking for a local veterinarian, rescue, or TNR (trap-neuter-return) program that can help with spaying a feral cat. If you've worked with an organization in the Shreveport-Bossier area or have any recommendations, we'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!
