Is the Ryzen 5 7520U decent for coding/data science, or too weak?

Starting my BS in Data Science soon, eyeing an ASUS VivoBook Go 15 with a Ryzen 5 7520U, can upgrade to 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. Heard the 7520U is actually an older Zen 2 chip rebranded, not real Zen 3/4.

Gonna be doing Python, C, Jupyter, VS Code, tons of browser tabs, occasional light ML stuff.

Will this actually last me the full degree or will it start struggling/dying out in a year or two? Anyone using this chip for similar coursework — does it bottleneck even with 16GB RAM, or is it fine day to day? Also curious if you’d rather take an older/weaker CPU with more RAM, or a better CPU with less RAM on a tight budget.

is this laptop good to go for uni

AMD Ryzen 5 7520U; weak chip or fine for coding/data science coursework?
From what I understand, the 7520U is a low-power chip (Mendocino platform, based on older Zen 2 cores rather than Zen 3/4) — seems like a step down from more recent U/H-series chips even with matched RAM.
Use case: BS Data Science student — Python, C, Jupyter notebooks, VS Code, multitasking with browser use, occasional light ML/data work.
Questions:

  1. Is the 7520U genuinely going to bottleneck this kind of workload even at 16GB RAM, or am I overestimating the difference?
  2. Anyone running data science coursework on a 7520U machine — how’s it held up day to day?
3)Also curious if you’d rather take an older/weaker CPU with more RAM, or a better CPU with less RAM on a tight budget.

is it a good time to invest in the auto sector

title; also since i am just observing everything, the auto sector stocks appear to be on “sale” but at the same time; theres uncertainty around the auto policy so what do we think about this all?

Need help picking 2 monitors for a coding/study dual-monitor setup (HP laptop, i7)

Hey everyone, I’m starting my BS in Data Science this September and want to set up a proper dual-monitor workspace for coding, studying, and general productivity; not gaming or video editing.
I’ve got an HP laptop (i7, G10 series) and want to connect it to 2 external monitors. Looking for recommendations on:

**•**	Good 24” IPS monitors (1080p is fine, but open to 1440p if worth it)
**•**	Whether to go HDMI + USB-C or get a proper docking station
**•**	Any specific models you’d recommend in this range that have held up well for coding/long study sessions

Budget’s flexible-ish, just want solid value, not the cheapest junk that’ll strain my eyes after a few hours. Based in Pakistan if that affects availability/pricing suggestions.

Guide to PSX

If you were to start investing in PSX from scratch, where would you start? Where would you start learning? What resources?
Could someone with good amount of experience guide me through not only PSX but investments, finance in general?

The Complete NET Guide

Hey.

I just finished giving my NETs, and I'm gonna dump everything I know plus answer the general queries people have for those about to give it. I gave 5 NETs; ended up with a 150 in the engineering one and 146 in the business one.

Let's start with the basics: How different is NET from your board exams (for the FSc kids)?

If someone tells you it's entirely different, it's not. But there are a few things you need to understand:

  1. Scoring well in boards doesn't automatically mean you'll score well in NET, because boards don't require your concepts to be as strong as NET does.
  2. If you're not even from Punjab board, except for a few chapters and topics, your own board books are good enough to cover NET.

Which resources should you use?

Use the KIPS FUNG series. The MCQs are made from very niche topics that might never even show up in NET, but for the most part, it'll still help you. But don't forget OETP. OETP is single-handedly the best guide to NUST out there, especially for the "ratta" MCQs that come up, like the resistivity of iron, or who invented dy/dx, etc. So in short, KIPS FUNG + OETP is all you need. As far for the torcia and scholar, I did skim through them a bit but honestly speaking, they are not really it.

However, there's an exception; for anyone attempting NET, I still recommend two things:

  1. For the maths chapters you're weak in, practice from PTB maths books. One, they have difficult questions too, and two, there are a lot of them so you get plenty of practice.
  2. Even if you've done physics from the KIPS FUNG guide and your own board books, I'd still recommend skimming through the PTB physics books, they genuinely help.

Hashim Zia, Nustrive, STEM, or KIPS?

I can't comment on all of them, but I did take both Hashim Zia and the Nustrive portal.

Being honest, Sir Aftab (from Hashim Zia) is the ultimate guide for anyone who wants to crack NET. His lectures are on point, they include practice MCQs, and I've generally found him really good. For physics, except for a few electricity chapters, I didn't really take Bilal Zia's lectures, I think they're way too long and too basic, though he says himself he builds concepts from scratch. So you're genuinely getting access to some good resources for 10K.

For Nustrive, I don't think they offer much more if you're already in Hashim Zia's batch. Just take their first two free FLPs and you'll be good; their later FLPs are pretty basic, only the first 4-5 are good. Plus, you'll get FLPs with Hashim Zia too, though they're not really like the actual NET.

NET is quite an overhyped exam; it's easy to crack if you sit down and study. Around a month's time is enough for most people. But if you're just starting HSSC II or A2 and want to be done by NET 1, I'd recommend starting early, because by NET 1 you're genuinely not done with your syllabus, so you'll need more time.

If anyone has questions, I'd love to answer with whatever limited knowledge and experience I have.

Jazak'Allah
