Uveitis

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to hear from anyone who has gone through something similar with their dog.

My dog is a 2-year-old toy poodle. She developed severe uveitis in one eye, along with retinal detachment and recurrent bleeding inside the eye (hyphema).

We’ve already tried everything our ophthalmologist recommended:
Steroid injections
Anti-inflammatory treatment
Oral medications
Repeated follow-up care

The bleeding stops temporarily after treatment but comes back again, sometimes within a day. Our veterinarian told us they’ve essentially exhausted the available medical treatments.

Unfortunately, they now believe she has no vision left in that eye and said that if we go to a university veterinary hospital, they’ll likely recommend eye removal (or placement of an ocular prosthesis) because the eye can no longer be treated medically.

The hardest part is that we still don’t know the underlying cause. Her bloodwork has been normal, and otherwise she’s a happy, energetic 2-year-old dog.

I’m wondering:

- Has anyone else’s dog had recurrent hyphema/uveitis where the cause was never found?
- Did anyone eventually discover the cause?
- Did the disease ever affect the other eye?
- If you went to a veterinary teaching hospital, were there any additional tests or treatments that made a difference?

I’m feeling devastated because she’s so young, and I’m trying to make the best decision for her.
Thank you so much to anyone willing to share your experience.

Minoxidil alternative

What are some minoxidil alternatives that have been effective for you all? Have heard of some severe side effects esp for women trying to get pregnant + how dangerous it is for pets.

Also, any shampoo/conditioner recs would be appreciated.

Ben frear immigration vs Manifest

Ben was recommended in a lot of reddit posts. Had calls with both Ben and Manifest. Ben seems great but wanted to hear from others that have worked with Ben and what your experience has been like. Also had a call with Manifest and I did not like the lawyer on the call but it seemed like Manifest has a lot of insight that a big firm is likely to have.
