Looking for an Xbox game I can get completely obsessed with - where I’m in control and build/run something

I'm looking for a new Xbox game I can really sink my teeth into and potentially put hundreds of hours into.

I've realized I really enjoy games where I'm in control, my decisions matter, and I'm building something over time. I want to manage, strategize, solve problems, grow in power, and eventually look back and feel like I built this.

I'm open to almost any setting. Kingdoms, armies, civilizations, colonies, businesses, politics, economics, resource management, etc.

I actually want complexity. I don't mind learning systems, watching tutorials, making mistakes, or restarting. I want something that gets deeper the more I understand it.

I especially like the idea of starting small and earning my way into power, rather than immediately being handed an empire.

Games currently on my radar are Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Crusader Kings III, Stellaris, RimWorld, Anno 1800, and Civilization. Bannerlord especially interests me because of starting as basically nobody and eventually building an army/kingdom while actually participating in battles.

But I'm not necessarily looking for medieval or even strictly strategy games. I'm chasing that feeling of control, progression, and building something that's mine.

I'm on Xbox Series X.

Basically: Give me a game that will have me reading guides when I'm not playing because I can't stop thinking about what I'm going to do next.

What game did that for you?

Looking to add another serious league to my 2026 fantasy season

I've been playing in the same 3 leagues for many years, and these leagues have been great. Members show up, they research, they are active on waiver wire, no autodrafts. I am looking for another league like this that is comprised of folks who love the game, want to chat, talk shit, trade, etc.

I am open to 10 or 12 team leagues, no dynasty. I've done a couple of auction drafts and like them, technically still a beginner with auction drafts but this is the type of draft I'd like. Looking for a league where everyone shows up to the auction draft and is trying their best all season.

around $50 buy in would be good, but open to options. I play on Yahoo and ESPN but heard Sleeper is good.

I'll be looking at options the next few days, thanks in advance!

Where to buy low dose TCH seltzers near Fremont - and NA spirits

Hey all,

I'm going to Vegas in a few weeks and I've been drinking less and less - trying to keep the momentum up in Vegas. But, I still want to get a good feeling while cruising around town, eating good food and drinking with friends for our fantasy football draft. Since I'm on foot, I was wondering if there was a place I could buy these types of seltzers around Fremont because I'm staying on that side of the city. 2-3mg seltzers would make my sobriety trip a lot better! it would be nice to grab a 12 pack or more.

Also, maybe looking for a NA spirit (whiskey) to make a few mocktails during our fantasy draft. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Parking a camping trailer question

Hey everyone,

The current house that I rent has a double garage, and i use 1 side to park my camping trailer in. It take up the whole side of the garage. But, we are leaving this house at the end of October and I don't think we'll be as lucky having an apartment that has a garage, or somewhere I can park it.

Anybody have experience with renting a place to park my camper? It is the size of a garage, and about 5 feet tall.

Any advice would be appreciated. Im still house/apartment shopping, and with this in mind Im trying to find a spot, but prepping for a backup plan.

Thanks in advance!

Upgrade available

Hey all,

Just got an email that my GA tickets have an upgrade available. it would be $160 more, and it would take me from GA to row 15 seat 99/100 - pretty left.

Worth it? coming in from out of town and just want to see if the 160 is worth it. Its for tomorrow's show for The Strokes

Parking question

I've been to Red Rocks a couple of times, I'm driving up from New Mexico for tomorrow's show. The few times I've gone, there has been a security guard telling me which parking lot to park in and I didn't have a choice.

I've seen posts about parking and folks suggesting which parking lot to enter - do you get a choice most of the times?

I have a GA ticket and want to be able to get a good seat. I plan on arriving at 5pm since we are driving into town and going straight to the venue. Which parking lot do you suggest I park in, and is there a specific "route" I should enter from to make sure I get into that parking lot?

Thanks!

Tips for someone who will probably arrive late to Strokes

Hey all,

Excited to see The Strokes on Thursday. I'll be driving up with my gf from Albuquerque, NM, and we might get there after doors open. I have GA tickets. I had an option to upgrade to left Row 18 - but it was another $160 bucks so I passed, kinda regret it.

Since we will be coming into town and straight to the venue, we probably won't be able to wait in line and get to the front of GA. Any tips on maybe sitting or standing nearer to the stage? Or is the view from the back of GA not too bad?

First timer here, so any tips in general would be helpful!

Samsung RS267TDPN/XAA - How do I remove the lower water supply tube from the back of the refrigerator?

I'm replacing a leaking water tube on my Samsung RS267TDPN/XAA side-by-side refrigerator.

The leak is coming from the plastic water tube near the bottom back of the fridge. It has developed two pinhole leaks, so I want to cut it out and replace that section with new 1/4" tubing and a union fitting.

I've already turned off the house water supply, The tubing seems to be held tightly where it enters the refrigerator, and I can't figure out how to remove it without damaging anything.

Does this model use a push-to-connect fitting, a compression fitting, or is the tubing routed internally? Is there a trick to getting the tube out?

Any advice from someone who's worked on this model would be greatly appreciated.

Do you think the setlists will be the same for both days at Red Rocks?

Just wondering if you all think they will tweak their setlist for back to back nights at Red Rocks. I see them the 2nd show - would be cool to hear more Room on Fire that currently being played on tour

Ready to pull the trigger, but have some questions first - appreciate any advice!

Hey everyone! I've been researching kayaks for a while now and am getting ready to buy my first one. I live in New Mexico and want to get more outdoors, seems like the best way to do it. Right now I'm leaning toward a sit-on-top, but I'd really appreciate some advice from people with more experience.

My goals are:

  • Start with lakes, but want to get into paddling rivers, with the long-term goal of working up to Class I-II rapids and eventually Class III as I gain experience.
  • Bringing my medium-sized dog along after giving him some training.
  • Carrying camping gear for overnight or weekend trips.

From what I've read, a sit-on-top seems like the best choice for the ease of getting on and off the kayak, and general safety with a dog. The downside seems to be that they're generally heavier and slower than sit-ins.

Are there any sit-on-top kayaks that are relatively lightweight and paddle efficiently, or is that just the tradeoff you have to accept? I'd rather buy one kayak that can do 80–90% of what I want than end up wishing I'd chosen something else.

One other (possibly dumb) question... how do you all handle getting your kayak back to truck at the end of a river run? On a lake I can just paddle back to where I launched, but on a river, how do you get yourself and your gear back to your vehicle? Do most people use shuttle services, bikes, Uber, or something else?

Finally, if you were in my shoes, what kind of kayak would you buy? I'm not married to the sit-on-top idea if there's something that better fits my goals, but it seems like the best fit based on everything I've read so far.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to learning from you all.

Men's medium length haircut

Hey everyone,

Thanks for helping me find a pet sitter - used Rover and found someone who had a lot of reviews and in my area.

Another request - I went to CHOPS for a haircut a few weeks back and really liked the staff and the cut. Only problem is - no availability until next week. I have a trip this weekend and looking to get my medium length hair cut. Any other options that are in the same price range ~$40 that has a good reputation?

Thanks!

Recommendations for a pet sitter business

Hey Burque,

I'll be out of town for a few days later this month, and was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for a pet sitting business. I have a medium sized dog and two cats. I would want this person to come over maybe 3 times a day to feed and let the dog out.

I used a business once and it was great, but they seem to be out of business. Any recommendations would be much appreciated, thanks!

Take my mind off my hospital stay

Looking for a sci-fi/fantasy recommendation while I’m stuck in the hospital for a few days with my Kindle and need something immersive to completely pull me in.

Some favorites:

- Hyperion

- Children of Time

- Project Hail Mary

- House of Suns

- The First Law

- Leviathan Wakes

I really love mysteries and dark plots unfolding over time, ancient civilizations, cosmic horror/weirdness, dark characters, and that “what is actually happening?” feeling. Big bonus if it has great dialogue or deep worldbuilding.

What’s the one book or series you’d recommend based on this?

Slurred speech + mentally slow/“Novocain mouth” feeling, ER found nothing

32M, 5’10”, 225 lbs.

This started Thursday night (May 21). I went out after work and had a few beers, which I’ve honestly been doing almost daily lately. Felt normal during the day and while out, but later that night at home I noticed my speech felt slightly slurred — almost like I had water in my mouth or Novocain.

Friday morning it was a little better, but still off, and at work I noticed my typing/coordination felt weird too. Since then I’ve also felt mentally slow, loopy, and like my thinking is delayed.

I went to urgent care/ER and they did:

Blood work

CT scan

Chest X-ray

IV fluids

The paperwork mentioned dehydration, but they said they didn’t find anything major.

No facial droop or arm weakness. I’ve also been dieting hard, working out a lot, stressed, tired, and probably not hydrating enough.

My speech still feels off though, which is what’s bothering me most.

Has anyone experienced something similar even after normal tests?

My gf and I sat down and really enjoyed playing Blue Prince together. We were taking notes, strategizing next steps, researching - all of it together. We'd take turns "driving" during the game while the other watched. I'm looking for other puzzle, mystery, detective games that can bring back that type of experience. Games that uncover a dark plot would be optimal.

We love a good, mysterious story. For example, I want to replay Expedition 33 with her and have her discover the game/lore like I did. But, she likes more puzzle games, hence the ask.

Open to suggestions! We have an Xbox Series X and a PS4, but we prefer the Xbox. Thanks!

Hey all,

I'm looking into a membership at Crunch Fitness on San Mateo and I40. Everytime I drive by it looks slammed. I'd like to use it either in the morning around 6am, or around 5pm after work.

If you use this facility, how are the crowds around these times? Any times you'd suggest to make sure I don't have to wait too long for equipment? Interested in free weights and some machines. Thanks in advance!
