What class could best be flavored as a lawyer?

Simple enough question, I wanna play a character who's a lawyer, but i don't know what class to make her.

I was thinking bard, but idk how well things mesh in that area. I was just hoping to get input here.

I've got her lore all settled. It's just a matter of flavoring gameplay rn

F4A: Warhammer 40k rp!!!

Hello everyone, Wroothly here, I'm 21 and looking for someone who likes the same kind of sci-fi I do... and who is also a quivering nerd! Now, important stuff out of the way first: while I'm quite permissive in regards to actually content and story beats, I have a few rules I'm fairly firm about.

  1. Partner must be of a similar age

  2. Partner must not be dry. It might sound petty, but I cannot connect at all if it's all "hey." all the time.

  3. Partner is encouraged to contribute to worldbuilding and the general setting.

And that's the boring stuff out of the way! Here's the specifics!

I love 40k! I love the setting, I love the lore, I love the characters, so I thought: why not make my own with a kindred spirit???

Now, this inspiration might sound somewhat unconventional, but I'm wanting to do a plot with very Lupin or Far Cry vibes. A kinda ragtag band of miscreants from all walks of life being sent all over to accomplish missions.

The exact specifics I'd like to flesh out with you! There will of course be character development and grim moments that 40k is wont to partake in, but I would love to maintain a somewhat goofy, lighthearted vibe, as much as is possible in 40k.

Why do so many people, even some atheists, get so hung up on the concept of life developing from non-life?

I don't really get it, cuz like. None of the stuff we're made of is magic. We can find every component that forms us out there. If there was some abstract concept of a soul which makes us special needed, would we not find it upon dissection?

Curious how to go about naming dinosaurs in a fantasy setting, given their latin and greek-centric irl names not being applicable.

So, basically, my setting has this primarily ottoman inspired empire, and I want the region they primarily inhabit to have Cretaceous era dinosaurs. I like it when fantasy settings have extinct real life animals, and I thought this was a nice detail.

But, I'm not sure what to call the dinosaurs. Our names for dinosaurs irl are Latin and Greek, and Latin and Greek don't exist in this setting, so why would these creatures have Latin and Greek names?

F4A Retro Science Fiction original setting rp.

80s and 90s anime is the primary inspiration! Think Cowboy Bebop, think Trigun, think Ghost in the Shell!

Bounty hunters, beautiful cityscape, personality starcraft, malicious corporations! All that fun stuff!

There would also be some Star Wars inspiration thrown in in terms of sapient alien species! As well as some Lovecraft style stuff! If you're interested, I'd be more than happy to provide a basic rundown on the fiber details in DMs! But I'll not go into it here for the sake of brevity.

All that to say, shoot me a message if interested, see ya space cowboy!

Have I redefined the concept of "witches" in my setting to where they're unrecognizable?

My setting is a roughly medieval era dark fantasy setting, mostly focusing on an Eastern European inspired region gripped with old magic and monsters.

A "witch" in my setting is a different thing from in real life and standard fantasy tropes, and much more specific. The basics are: a long time ago, the god of the wild, monsters, and the night was imprisoned and his beloved daughter killed. Ever since, every girl born on a new moon night has a chance to catch the god's eye, in which case he will empower her with his eldritch powers to be his new daughters, and the bringers of his vengeance. These gals are my setting's witches, and their father lovingly whispers their divine purpose to them as they grow up (summon/create/command monsters, act as a kind of clergy for their father's actual religious sect, empower their father to escape his chains, avenge their eldest sister, etc etc)

They don't necessarily have any inherent magical ability, but they do have constant access to the knowledge of an ancient god. From the moment they can understand words, they just *know* how to achieve things. They are guided by a powerful force to whatever suits their needs.

Worldbuilders with orcs, what culture, if any, do you draw from for them? That "stock high-fantasy tribal" aesthetic has grown somewhat stale for me.

My orcs are primarily inspired by the Mongol empire, though there's a bit of akkadian and mesoamerican in them as well. Idk, I just feel like you seldom see serious thought put into orcs.

Would you call this suitable foundation for a terrorist organization to form?

My setting is a sci-fi one set in a distant galaxy gripped by an anomalous form of eldritch radiation. It is ruled primarily by the Galactic Union, a democratic collection of several sovereign territories.

On the very edges of Union space is the planet of Valentine, named so by outsiders due to its mostly red vegetation. Valentine is inhabited by a race known as the furies.

Technologically, furies are comparable to 1970s earth, making them relatively primitive. Socially, their culture is comparable to feudal societies of history. They are also intensely cautious of outsiders, and in no uncertain terms forbid the entrance of outsiders to their planet and the exit of their own. This law has remained in place since first contact.

Another such example of their society is their strict and hereditary punishment for crimes.

If a male fury commits a crime of a specific type, he is executed and his son exiled if applicable, regardless of age.

Exile, in this case, means off-planet exile, to be taken by the "alien barbarians" of the Union. This means dozens of boys and men imprisoned and sorted into cargo ships to blast off.

A fair portion die, but enough survive to get angry about it. Enough survive to form groups. Enough survive to plot fiery vengeance.

Basically, I was wondering how plausible you find that?

Why is there this widespread expectation that I'm not supposed to judge religious people for the things they choose to believe in?

Everywhere I go, I hear things like "respect people's religions!" or "agree to disagree". And like, I don't get it. You can be as polite and civil as you want, the fact remains, if you're a Christian or Muslim, you believe I deserve to be consciously tortured forever for not thinking like you do. This is inherent to your religion's doctrine.

You believe hell is real and I deserve to go there.

Why would I be remotely okay with that? And why would I not judge you for choosing to have that belief?

Why do people make a big deal about the "kill baby hitler" hypothetical when simply stopping his parents from ever meeting is the much more intuitive and guilt free option?

I'm confused by people discussing what they'd do in the event of societal collapse. Is the move not to just. Steal from preppers?

Seriously, get together a raiding party of, what? 7 or 8 half-fit guys? What could a middle aged, burger-fed fatass with a shitty hunting rifle and his family of four do? And they always post their homes on facebook, so it's not like they'd be hard to find. What gives?

I'm faced with a dilemma, but not the kind you expect from this franchise.

In all honesty, I find male Shepard really ugly. I tried character creation, but nothing i can make has been any different. Default female Shepard looks amazing, and I honestly prefer her VA, too.

So, simple choice, right? At first glance, but there's just one problem.

The goddamm boob armor. And it's not because I'm some ultra woke-ite or something (I am, but not for stuff like this. Its whatever, design characters how you want).

Its just that the boob armor takes me right out in a way that's really hard to overlook.

I get that there's probably some sci-fi explanation, but whenever I see that design detail onscreen, im incredibly aware that im playing a videogame.

I've been fleshing out my orcs. Is this social structure a ripoff of anything? I swear I've seen something like it, but im coming up blank.

Pegrarian orc society largely consists of various nomadic clans ruled by clan masters, a hereditary role passed from father to son in male clans, and mother to daughter in female clans. society is extremely sex-segregated, with males and females forming separate clans, only mingling on a massive scale on the spring and autumn equinoxes, which they celebrate as fertility festivals. most infants are conceived on these dates.

for commoners, it is most typical for mate-seekers to just find someone who catches their eye and propose copulation. Games such as races and wrestling matches are also common for choosing mates. Meanwhile, for the higher ups in society, mates are typically previously arranged by the family of the "couple", as something of a contractual arrangement.

females made pregnant by this festival remain in the male camps until birth, where male and female infants are then sorted, females being brought back with their mothers to the female clans, and males staying with their fathers in the male clans.

Looking for horror games, indie or otherwise, where it's a normal job simulator that gets weird.

Games I've played that match this description:

Fnaf

Killer Frequency

Cabin Factory

Kiosk

Happy's Humble Burger Farm

Hey, new fan to the franchise, not exactly a lorehead. Is there a consensus on exactly how much other species' know about human culture?

I ask because I have this idea for a minor character in a mass effect thingy. A shady volus pawn shop owner by the name of Bolk. He markets his shop as an "emporium of exotic human curiosities" to sell to other aliens at the Citadel.

His shelves are lined with completely mundane lamps, toasters and other appliances he insists are priceless cultural and religious artifacts.

And I was curious how many are likely to fall for it?

F4A Mass Effect RP

Well hi! I'm Wroothly, a 21 year old nonbiney with an overwhelming abundance of nerdy interests. Being in a huge sci-fi mood at the moment, i thought I'd cast a line out on the internet to find someone who knows about the mass effect franchise!

First, a few rules!

  1. Must be in my general age range

  2. OC for OC isn't negotiable

  3. 3 to 5 paragraphs preferred

  4. Please have basic knowledge of the lore

And with all that out of the way, here are some basics in regards to the premise!

I would love for the rp to focus on the more , black market underworld aspects of the setting. Espionage, undercover work, ragtag heists and such! No connection to the plot of the games, of course.

Naturally, feel free to pitch your own ideas! And message me if interested!

Some brief summaries of the dominant powers in my sci-fi setting, as well as their sigils. Questions and discussion appreciated.

Context: Eighty-three years ago, conflict arose between the Auroran Republic and the Umbroid Federation over control of Strange Matter, a priceless resource crucial to convenient stellar communication. The ensuing war killed trillions.

After an indecisive final few battles, a peace treaty was signed, giving birth to the Galactic Union. In a modernizing galaxy gripped by corruption, lawlessness and fatigue, the Union is meant to be the thing keeping things together.
