[HexaGalaxy] Patch 1.2.3b - Full Spanish localization + reworked multilingual website

This patch is all about languages. HexaGalaxy (free browser-based space strategy, one ship per player on a shared hex map) now speaks Spanish.

**Spanish localization**

- Spanish is now the fourth fully supported language, alongside French, English and German.

- The whole stack is translated: game interface, real-time notifications, emails and every public page of the website.

- Spanish-speaking alliances can now be created; the language selector on the site and in game offers Spanish everywhere.

- A few translated screenshots are still in the pipeline and temporarily show in English.

**Multilingual website rework**

- Every public page (home, FAQ, how to play, universe lore, expeditions, release notes) now has its own URL per language, so a shared link always opens in the language it was shared in.

- Old URLs keep working and redirect to the version matching your language.

- Installing the game as a PWA now uses your chosen language.

**Performance and fixes**

- Public website pages load noticeably faster: they now only ship the styles they actually need instead of the full game stylesheet.

- Fixed a display bug that could stretch some images on the website pages.

- Various minor fixes and optimizations.

If you have Spanish-speaking friends who are into slow-burn strategy games, now is a good time to bring them in.

Play at https://www.hexagalaxy.com - free, browser-based, no download required.

Feedback welcome, especially from native Spanish speakers: if a translation feels off, tell us and we'll fix it.

HexaGalaxy 1.2.3 adds an experience and leveling system (up to level 50, per-universe progression)

Hey everyone,

We just shipped update 1.2.3 for HexaGalaxy, our free browser-based space strategy game. The headline feature is a full experience and leveling system that ties into things you already do in the game.

What's new:

- **Earn XP from gameplay**: winning battles, colonizing planets (neutral or enemy), completing expeditions, and finishing daily/weekly/alliance quests all grant experience. Expedition rewards scale with rarity and risk.

- **Levels up to 50**: each level permanently buffs your empire with passive bonuses to Quantium yield and Fuel regeneration (up to roughly +20% and +15% at max level), and every level-up instantly pays out a Quantium and Fuel reward.

- **Per-universe progression**: your level and XP are tracked separately in each universe, so starting fresh elsewhere means building a new legacy without losing your existing ones.

- **Visible everywhere**: a level badge on your avatar, a real-time XP bar, your commander card, and the leaderboard all show your progress.

- **XP shown before and after**: potential rewards appear on the attack panel, expeditions, and quest cards beforehand, and the actual XP gained shows up in combat results and expedition history afterwards.

- **Level-up feedback**: an on-screen message plus a dedicated sound when you hit a new level.

This release also includes various bug fixes and performance optimizations.

Feedback is very welcome. You can play here: https://hexagalaxy.com

HexaGalaxy 1.2.2 - Added a full combat history log to the Empire window

Hey everyone, just pushed update 1.2.2 for HexaGalaxy, my free browser-based multiplayer space strategy game. The headline feature this time is a proper combat history:

- **New Combat tab** in the Empire window: a complete log of every battle you've been in, as attacker or target.

- Each entry shows the outcome (win/loss from your point of view), the opponent, the target type (ship or planet with coordinates), the power ratio with a gauge and matching win chance, and the date.

- **Summary banner** with totals for victories, defeats, planets conquered and planets lost, plus filters for All / Victories / Defeats.

- On planet battles, a button jumps you straight to that planet on the map.

- The history loads progressively as you scroll, instead of all at once.

Other changes:

- The Empire window now reopens on the last tab you were on (planets, ship or combat).

- Planet notifications (lost, conquered, defended) are now clickable and center the map on the planet.

- Cleaned up the notification center: quest-completion alerts no longer pile up as duplicates, since you already get a real-time message and a "rewards to claim" badge.

- Various bug fixes and performance optimizations.

Feedback always welcome.

[HexaGalaxy] Update 1.2.1 - Territorial borders on the map, rebuilt ranking system, unread badge on global chat

Hey everyone, just shipped update 1.2.1 for HexaGalaxy (free browser-based 4X space strategy). Three meaningful changes this patch:

Territorial borders on the star map

Every colonized planet now projects a visible influence zone, color-coded by diplomatic status:

- Purple: your planets

- Blue: your alliance

- Green: peace partners

- Red: enemies (war or alliance-targeted)

- Grey: neutral

Zones from the same side auto-merge into solid blocks, and enemy enclaves inside friendly territory stay distinctly visible (the closest hexagons go to the closest planet, no overlap fights). The influence radius scales with the planet's Quantium yield (1 to 5 hexagons), and legendary planets get a fixed 7-hex aura. Borders update in real time on conquest, peace, war declarations, alliance changes and infrastructure builds.

Ranking system, fully rebuilt

The global score used to be a flat aggregate of a few indicators. It now combines five distinct factors:

- Military power (warships + planetary defenses + planet intrinsic power)

- Economic infrastructure value (extractors, refineries, research labs, levels included)

- Number of colonized planets (heavily weighted)

- Combat victories (both offensive AND defensive - repelling an assault counts)

- Successful expeditions

Four separate leaderboards are now available: Global, Quantium, Power, Planets. Alliance ranking uses the same formula, summed across all members.

Unread badge on global chat

Global chat finally has an unread counter, like alliance chat. Shows on the tab, on the collapsed minichat, and aggregated in the social menu badge. Server-side persistence so it survives reconnects. Your own messages don't count.

Also some backend optimization on ranking queries (single RANK() pass instead of two), which should help on the bigger servers.

Hey folks,

Solo dev here. Just pushed v1.2.0 of [HexaGalaxy](https://www.hexagalaxy.com/), a free multiplayer space strategy game that runs in your browser. This one took a while because I basically rebuilt the entire planetary system from scratch.

Quick rundown of what changed.

Infrastructures

The old system only had Quantium Extractors, which made planets feel pretty flat. Now there are three buildings:

- Quantium Extractor (up to 5 per planet), now part of the unified slot system

- Quantium Refinery (new), boosts planet yield up to +20%

- Research Lab (new), cuts defense costs by up to -30%

Defenses got a big cleanup

The 5 old defenses were mostly the same thing with different numbers. They're now 3 types, and each actually does something different:

- Orbital Batteries deal pure damage, and they still chip the attacker even on a winning fight

- Shield Generators push defensive power up to +25%

- Mine Fields drag attacker power down by up to -25%

At max level with everything stacked, an attacker needs about +67% raw power just to hit a 50/50 against a fully fortified planet. Which feels about right for a serious fortress.

Construction queues

This is probably the biggest QoL change.

- No more instant purchases, everything goes through a real-time queue

- Each planet has its own queue (10 slots) for infrastructures and defenses

- Warships have a separate production queue

- Bulk orders deliver units one by one so you can react mid-build

- It keeps running while you're offline

- Full refund if you cancel

UI cleanup (desktop + mobile)

The interface had been accumulating rough edges for a while, so I took the time to clean it up. Panels are better organized on desktop, and mobile navigation was reworked so you can actually play with one hand without misclicking everything. Not glamorous to describe, but it makes a real difference when you play.

Other stuff

- Combat formula adjusted to make room for the new defense effects

- Neutral planet generation tuned for the new system

- Starting equipment was buffed too (15 Batteries + 1 Extractor per planet), otherwise newcomers got stomped

- Usual perf pass and bug fixes

Happy to answer questions in the comments. Would genuinely love feedback if you give it a spin.
