Her best teams besides 7.x characters and Skirk?

Hi, I got Sandrone and yae, initially thought she'd work well with them but hearing otherwise now, and I don't really want to get Vesna just because she synergises (I have no interest in her I'm afraid).

I'm a huge fan of her and I don't mind if she's not a great team member, but it's nice to still be able to make the best out of her so was curious what teams might work well with her?

Feel free to list some ideas or examples, including ones that have been tested.

Looking for an ultrabook similar to an MBA M5 Air but on windows.

I bought a Macbook Air M5 before the price rice (1tb) for £1200 from John Lewis. It has everything I need but I'm just struggling to use it as effectively as windows, and this is after trying to get used to it over 3 months after following tutorials as well. I bought parallels which fixes a lot of issues but then what's the point, may as well get a Windows laptop since emulating it drains so much battery anyway.

Anyhow, what I'm searching for :

- Works well without charger and still lives off battery for a while on general tasks. (My XPS from 5 years ago throttles performance like mad and dies in minutes on battery, even with high performance mode). I think recent CPUs are better optimised nowadays like the intel ultra series? Though I've never tried them.

- Has a GPU, doesn't need to be super strong, I need this for light gaming (MMOs with low graphics is fine) and a lot of creative tasks, not expecting to obviously play on battery.

- Light and slim, similar to MBA 13 inch, a bit more weight is fine but nothing above 1.6kg. Any screen size is fine.

- Reliable product with good recognition. I know Thinkpad has a lot of praise for example.

- From some searching I think some variants of the Zenbook fill the criteria but open to more recommendations.

- Budget is £1200-ish, hopefully a bit less. This is what I paid for the MBA and is what I may have after selling it.

- UK vendors of course.

Thanks! Feel free to follow up with questions.

Looks beautiful! (And then HORRIFIC when you rotate your camera)

Just discovered something that scared me a little while I was hunting for gpose spots!
I knew models are designed like this but for some reason until now, I never looked from top-down lol.

^(Maybe it's just my trypophobia getting to me /sweat.)

(Also someone asked about my settings; this is at 1440p with all maximum graphics and loading).

Many questions for artists, to help me decide a tablet finally as a learner (Ipad Air M2 vs S11)

Hello,

I've extensively tested an Ipad Air + Pro Pencil and an S11 tablet (with S-Pen and Lamy Alstar) and was hoping for some answers to my questions. I feel like I need artist feedback to know what's 'right'.

  • How do you deal with finger strain? The Pro Pencil feels great, but over time does give me aches and I feel the weight is the cause. I've tried grips and still feel this. On the other hand, a Lamy EMR pen on S11 has been super lightweight and grippy and has given me the least strain. The obvious answer may be 'duh the non-strain one' but if Pro Pencil offers valuable learning opportunities and superior accuracy / techniques etc, it makes it difficult to choose it.
  • The S11 EMR pens lack features vs the Pro Pencil, but how much does it matter? The Pro-Pencil has the pencil-like end making tilt easier, squeeze for lots of widgets, and barrel roll. EMR pens have sometimes one button and a pointy end mostly. I draw much faster and accurately on EMR pens but I worry if over time I'll lose out on learning from the Pro-Pencil? Is the Pro-Pencil's features worth me spending time to learn getting used to the slippery screen and building accuracy, or should I stick to what I'm already very comfortable with given that I'll lose some features?
  • I use clip studio a lot which on both platforms automatically adds some form of stabilisation. Pro-create has nothing so all my lines are at least somewhat jittery vs Clip which is always neat in default settings. Does at least some Pro-create stabilisation tune-up matter for learning or is it best to keep motion filter and stabilisation all fully off?
  • It bothers me that the Pro-Pencil's tip is rounded whereas EMR pens are pointy. Sometimes while doing line art I miss where I want to draw, is this worth getting used to or shall I prioritise EMR pens if I like the pointiness more?

Thanks. I basically don't know if I should go one way or another because it's either 'good for me' or 'go with what's comfy'. Everybody recommends Ipad + Propencil and I feel gaslit sometimes for not seeing what's superior about it, but it could also be that I'm not an experienced artist yet so I don't recognise the full benefits in the long run, and that's sort of what I need help with.

Own 2 vacuums, need upgrade but to what?

Hello,

We have 3 floors:

  • Ground floor is hard, we have a Dyson V8 for quick cleans.
  • Top floors have carpets (loop pile), we have a Henry (big red ones) for strong suction, this also is used for DIY work and picking up fine dust.

The problem:

  • We've had each for over 6 years. The dyson is dying despite the maintenance, has super weak suction and barely sucks anything up.
  • The henry is still amazing but it's a bit too heavy for busy rooms, and I'm curious about the filtration being good enough (maybe it is or isn't, need advice).

Looking for options:

  • If it's possible to replace both with 1: Either a cordless that ages well and replaces both with decent suction, filtration and design that doesn't erode over time (if this exists), I hear lots of praise for Henry Quick though I also hear its suction isn't too strong. Anyway, the other option is...
  • - replacing each:
    • For henry, something lighter with good filtration and reliability so it'll last, and is able to suck up anything, and works well with carpets so things (including dust mites) are sucked up well.
    • For the dyson replacement, I guess something similar.

Budget is around £200-400 for replacing the henry (give or take), though if you have recommendations for replacing both then we can go up to £600-700.

I asked ChatGPT before posting here and it recommended some Miele options for replacing Henry, at one point the upright dyson corded vacuums too. It's a big spend so interested in hearing people's recommendations / thoughts experiences here.

Thanks!

Macbook Air M5, playable?

Hi, seen plenty of old posts of running this on parallels or crossover but with varied results. Wondered if anyone's successfully running ffxi at a decent playable rate on an MBA?

I've tried Parallels with:

- Less cores, more cores, game mode

- 720p resolution on desktop

- With and without windower and dgvoodoo2 with various ARM emulation settings for POL, on dgvoodoo2, ffxi config and whatnot.

At the end it begins lagging 1 minute in and the laptop gets pretty hot. I realise this is like 5 layers of emulation so that's expected but thought someone would have some working examples? Happy to provide more info if needed, and hopefully this thread can help any other googlers.

Ironically FFXIV runs super well and cool, which is understandable.

Do you use paperlike or different pentips? What would you recommend for a newbie?

Hi all, bought an Ipad and Procreate 3 weeks ago and have been drawing random stuff to get into the rhythm. In the past I used Samsung and their nibs are rubberised so I had a lot of control for detail, whereas this hard glass / hard plastic combo on Ipad is great for confident long strokes and reducing ache, but I struggle with precision.

Anyway, cutting to the chase. I've seen people like Brad on youtube saying he always used a textured protector on his ipad so it got me wondering if I should get something too? And how many of you use paperlike / alternatives and / or different nibs or pentips?

I basically need advice from people who are experienced, and priority for me is learning / improvement, so:

  • Is it very important to use textured screens or pentips for the long run? or
  • Does it not matter, you get used to it, just focus on drawing and learning?
  • If I learn on hard glass, is it transferable? Will I be able to adjust soon enough if I suddenly began using a Huion tablet on PC one day with paper texture?
  • I suppose there's the cost too, and if you do recommend paperlike, will £40 for 2 protectors justify it? Assuming one lasts a year?

Thanks! Very happy to begin my Procreate journey, just needed to figure out this little detail.

Would you pick colour over value?

I recently bought an M2 Air 256gb purple, Amazon renewed (so basically new, new battery, warranty, everything) for £420.

However, I also bought a starlight M3 256gb but for £10 cheaper than the M2, with unnoticeable 2 back scruffs but 100% battery and 4 cycles and 3 months of warranty left.

It seems stupid to not keep the M3 as the newer higher value tablet which is also £10 cheaper, except whenever I imagine using my ipad I can't think of anything but purple, so I'm shifting towards purple.

How stupid would that be to you all or would you do the same? (And yes, even if a case covers 90%, that 10% exposure matters to me lol)

Screen protectors besides paperlike?

Hi, just wondered what people use besides these (if at all) and your experience using them.

I tried an ESR paper protector on the A16 and it wobbled my straight lines on procreate so had to return it, not sure if it would've worked on my ipad air with a laminated screen.

Anyway, yeah, lots out there like paper feel, jetech. Or perhaps you guys just use different pentips instead for a sketch feel rather than switching protectors every year?

Interested to hear. Question mostly goes for drawing though, not note taking.

How important is Procreate / Pro Pencil vs other options? [Newbie question]

Hi all, so I'm still learning to draw, lots of basic practices and drawing skyscrapers, various shapes and lines to get a hang of things. I've got both Ipad Air M3 + Pro Pencil and an S11 Tablet + S-Pen, and I've spent a month so far using both.

I endlessly hear Procreate being praised, but I find Infinity Painter a lot easier to use especially with minor customisation options like single-finger canvas scrolling and tilt adjustments. . I know Procreate is just more popular so tons of youtube guides exist for it so I'll probably be at a loss there.

I don't know if this is a time thing but also; my drawing is more accurate on galaxy with the rubberised tip vs the plastic tip on ipencil (which I know you can change). Anyway, I only got an ipad due to recommendations but both are returnable.

Wondered how big of a deal is which I pick? Seeking feedback from experienced drawers to encourage me on what to do next and if I'm just being 'too picky and get on with drawing and learning with whatever, doesn't matter, you'll get used to it' or 'everyone's different, do what's comfy for you only'.

Thanks!

Is it normal for genshin to have 1% drained every 1-2m?

Hi, just assessing the battery drain. I got an M3 Air last week and I knew the M chips had batteries being short but this seems like phone duration so was wondering if I'm supposed to expect this or if some other factors need tinkering. I'm trialing the game on medium brightness running around randomly with 60fps medium settings.

I tried the same on my s11 galaxy which has a bigger battery yes, but that one on the same settings and brightness takes 5m for 1% to tick and it doesn't get hot which astounds me.

Also I don't use the tablets for gaming primarily, I draw mostly so I guess I'm also wondering how that'll go though I'm waiting for the system to optimise itself around my behaviour for a few days first to judge, although I doubt games make a difference.

Open to thoughts and experiences , thanks.

Should I keep the Ipad Air M2 or M3 (battery concerns)?

Hi there, bought an M2 renewed off amazon for 420 and an m3 100% battery one on ebay for 400.

I can keep either and return the other but wondering which is more worthwhile? My use case primarily is drawing on procreate and gaming (genshin, hsr, emulators), Kindle reading and some youtubing.

Heard battery on m3 is awful so a bit concerned and curious if though the value of me getting one for 400 is great, if it's worth it at the end of the day.

Thanks.

For a learner: does slippery ipad or rubbery samsung screen matter?

Hi, I'm starting out following video guides mostly but I noticed a huge difference in both after trialing each for a month:

Samsung S11:

  • Rubberised pen feels easier to draw with in precision unless doing wide streaks.
  • The pen is smaller so sometimes I do get some finger-ache gripping it.

Ipad 11:

  • Plastic nib so it's all smooth, I'm not very good at accurately drawing but long streaks are easier.
  • Larger but easier to hold. I also funnily like the glass noises even though people don't.

So yep, just wondered if it matters or if one is better than the other for learning and eventually drawing decently with? I have no idea if ipad for example is good with the slipperyness so you train your fingers for control, or something.

---

The following are some extra notes in comparison but besides the point, adding them anyway (don't wanna turn this into a tablet vs tablet post, it's more about which surface is better for learning and future-proofing skills, I can adapt / get used to these points):

  • Absolutely hate charging the gen1 apple pencil.
  • Both have great apps so, say android is voted up, I don't mind if procreate is missed out on since I've found infinite painter to be great too.
  • Samsung feels lighter and nicer to hold, though ipad has rounded corners making it super nice to rotate, and the extra height is nice.

Thanks!

Advice on coping with gen1 pencil and its tediousness

Hi all, so bought my very first ipad A16 and a 3rd party pencil for drawing. (TLDR is in the last para)

Realised later pressure sensitivity is only on the gen1 pencil. I unfortunately bought gen2 and usb-c before that until I realised properly.

Coming from using huion / wacom tablets on PC and s-pens / other android pens on android tablets which are batteryless, I knew from googling you needed to charge it via cable so I bought the pen and then for some reason the USB to thunderbolt charger didn't do anything, then I realised you need USB-C to thunderbolt and need to directly connect it to the ipad so I bought those cables.

Then there was some issue with pressure not working, google told me a restart usually helps and it did, I then tested turning bluetooth off and on out of curiousity and realised you have to connect via cable again to repair the pencil.

Anyway my point is this is incredibly tedious, the gen2 pen isn't too bad but it doesn't work with the A16 so I've just gone through some weird phase of selling the ipad and just going or a samsung for convenience, and then realised I like procreate and A16 chip being absurdly efficient for the cost, so sold that and bought an ipad again to try a 2nd time.

I'll get to the point; how do you guys cope with the pencil and any tips? I read some people use those USB-C (male) to thunderbolt (female) adapters and just stick it to the top of their pen and just shove it in the ipad where it sticks out to keep it charged, willing to try it if anyone has any specific product in mind to recommend e.g. Moko on amazon. Open to other tips too, I'm open to getting used to the gen1 pencil since I love ipad 11 and everything else about the software/hardware.

Thanks!

What teams would most likely always use M Blade?

I know the answer is probably 'everywhere' since he's a great generalist support, but as a Blade main, I want him to excel, and that means finding teams where he just makes the best out of his kit.

I've got E2 Acheron already so obviously he'll be great for that, though I also hear it just brings her up to compete, and doesn't make her notably better than more recent teams.

Ashveil I think from what Ive read a lot is one of the best to take advantage of Blade apparently, any other teams we know of atm? Otherwise shall we assume we'll find out over time since I've also heard a lot of talk about Aventurine SP and other characters probably working well with him.

iPencil palm rejection issues

Hi all, been testing both Samsung (with s-pen) and Ipad (with 3rd party pens, iPencil USB-C and 2nd gen IPencil), has anyone else noticed sometimes it just doesn't draw on the ipad because it picks up on your palm? I've tested multiple apps (all on the A16) and it happens every now and then. I didn't notice it on the Samsung at all, which obviously is because of the technology difference.

Anyway, wondered if other drawers had this issue and if they found a fix or were able to get used to it?

Found a few other posts too about it on other ipads, not sure if it's still an ongoing issue:
