New release: Talagaad Adventures (TOW RPG)

The new adventure anthology for The Old World RPG is out in digital form!

Available from Cubicle7 for preorder at https://cubicle7games.com/en\_US/warhammer-the-old-world-roleplaying-game-talagaad-adventures

Or digital version from DriveThruRPG at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/552042/warhammer-the-old-world-roleplaying-game-talagaad-adventures?affiliate\_id=1915782

Here's the blurb:

The port town of Talagaad seethes with tension and suspicion, its citizens contesting with one another to get ahead. Witches and Witch Hunters, dock gangs and State Army enforcers, cultists of rival gods — each conflict threatens to spill out onto Talagaad’s streets, where unfortunate locals might be caught in the crossfire.

Beyond the town walls, the road paths, riverways, and forests surrounding Talagaad are no safer, haunted as they are by pirates, Beastmen, and Orc and Goblin tribes. There is no safety or comfort to be found in Talagaad’s surroundings. But for the strong or the cunning… There is opportunity.

This adventure anthology for Warhammer: the Old World Roleplaying Game contains five standalone adventures suitable for any group of characters in Talagaad that Gamemasters can seamlessly integrate into an ongoing campaign.

Something Fishy: The assassination of a town crier entangles the characters in Talagaad's criminal underworld, where they must contend with street gangs, scheming merchants, and the crushing boot of the Talabec State Army.

The Hungry Towers: The characters intervene in a border dispute between two rival nobles, whose vassals starve as the tension escalates.

Oars in the Water: The characters are sent to help a merchant trader escape upriver, as she is pursued by Sigmarite pirates.

If the Leaves are Green: A Taalite midseason ritual gives way to horror when the festival is attacked by Beastmen, who drag the celebrants off screaming into the woods.

The Siege of Klepzig: The characters are caught between rival factions inside a walled village that will soon be subjected to an Orc and Goblin assault.

Are you prepared to cross paths with the worst Talagaad has to offer? Grim and glorious adventure awaits!

Hopes for WFRP 5th Edition

In a new post on my blog, I ruminate on what I hope to see in the forthcoming fifth edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay:

https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/06/25/hopes-for-wfrp-5th-edition/

With 5th Edition imminent, I thought I’d set down some of my hopes for what the new edition will bring. I’ve split it into two sections – general hopes for how 5e can improve on the strengths of 4e and address its weaknesses, and then new sourcebooks that I’d like to see. (Bear in mind its all conjecture, plus building on a few bits of information Cubicle 7 have mentioned in interviews.)

Thoughts very welcome!

Review: Thirst of Three (for Warhammer The Old World RPG)

I take a look at the first scenario for The Old World RPG on my blog. See:

https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/06/17/review-thirst-of-three-warhammer-the-old-world-rpg/

The PCs are drawn to the hamlet of Hügelstrok, south of the great city of Talabheim, searching for a missing contact. There they discover an insular community who are surprisingly unconcerned by the Beastmen gathering outside their village. What secrets does Hügelstrok hide?

Advanced Heroquest adventures in White Dwarf

On my blog I've written some thoughts about the various Advanced Heroquest adventures that appeared in White Dwarf over the years. See https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/06/10/more-advanced-heroquest/

Its fascinating to see how they fit into the Warhammer world, and how they became more intricate and complex as time went on!

(I also did a review of the main game a little while ago, available here: https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/04/30/sort-of-review-advanced-heroquest/ )

Review: Symbar - Mother of Darkness, and thoughts on the Throne of Thorns campaign

I've posted a review of the fourth part of the Throne of Thorns campaign, which can be read here: https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/05/19/review-symbar-mother-of-darkness-symbaroum/

I also posted some more general thoughts on the campaign so far: https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/05/21/the-chronicle-of-the-throne-of-thorns-interim-conclusion/ In general I really like it, though I wish there was more opportunity to interact with the really big setting changes that take place during its course.

Having recently unearthed my copy of Advanced Heroquest from a parent's loft, I've been thinking about how this fascinating-but-flawed game introduced me to the Warhammer world and thus to many happy years of playing Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

HeroQuest before it had some elements of Warhammer in it (such as Fimir and Chaos Warriors) but AHQ was the first game I came across that was emphatically set in the Warhammer world, featuring the Skaven in a starring role and referencing oldhammer elements as the World's Edge Mountains, the Chaos Wastes and Solkan, God of Vengeance.

If anyone's interested, I wrote a little retrospective of the game on my blog - see the link above.
