PSA: Using the search bar. Finding a seller number. Getting help with quality checks. Doing the bare minimum (your due diligence in researching so you don't get scammed right away)

Before I start, I'm going to hold your hand when I say this: if the hobby you're choosing to engage in is crime, you need to take steps to protect yourself (including extensive research) and you need thicker skin. Expecting anyone here to help you, do your QC for you, find a seller or factory for you, give you a contact number... is misguided at best and dangerous at worst. The information you want is likely already posted somewhere in plain text. This forum is crawling with scammers, people that are misinformed or spreading misinformation for personal benefit, and people that don't know any more than you do. You don't know who you're getting information from. You shouldn't implicitly trust anyone here. Get familiar with the risks before diving into reps.

If you cannot put time and effort into this, leave. Not because I'm mean or on a high horse, but because I care and don't want to see you get scammed, and you're advertising yourself as a target by being underinformed.

Using the search bar

We're in an age where most of the information you want has already been posted. The reddit search bar should be your first resource. Pick the bag you want, say it's a C25, then search for "C25 review rep" to find sellers and factories. Then get more specific, "[size] [color] [material] c25 [factory] [seller] review rep." Mix and match search combos based on the information that you find. Get informed on who sells this product, who has good reviews and bad. Don't only read one review because not all reviews are honest. Build a consensus BEFORE you contact anyone, and especially before you send money to anyone. If the reddit search bar sucks, use Google and add "site:reddit.com" to your search so you get reddit results. Try out the reddit AI tool too. If you're not finding anything, that may be a sign that bag isn't repped, or it's too new, or other root causes that we'll be happy to explore with you after it's clear that you put in the effort.

Search not just reviews, but also past quality checks (QCs) for the bag you want to familiarize yourself with. You'll learn what other OPs and commenters have identified as issues with that bag in the past, plus you can research images of the auth to get good reference photos of what it should look like (which many people like to post in the handbags sub or that brand's sub).

Finding a seller's number

Do searches on the seller too, any reviews about them in general. You may find the last 4 digits of their # posted somewhere, and then do a search of that seller + the 4 digits to find the phone number. If it's a reputable seller (i.e. many of us have used them in the past) I guarantee you'll find their number posted plainly if you do enough searching. You'll find "trusted seller lists" on other subs, you'll find info about their personality, and you'll find their pros and their cons. If you're not finding these things, do not use that seller as your first one. Start with someone better known. Do not DM people for contact numbers as there's nothing stopping them from giving you a fake number, sending you fake pics, taking your money, and ghosting you.

Getting QC help

Your post isn't getting any attention, or worse, you're getting downvoted and people are claiming you didn't do your research? It's likely because some combination of:

  • Your post shows you put no analysis in yourself. Asking us to QC is asking us to spend time taking a detailed look at your photos, analyzing them for structure, hardware, color, shape, size, leather condition, stitching, handles, interior, straps/clasps, symmetry, etc. It is work. It is hard. It took us time and effort to develop these skills, in some cases after a lot of trial/error and money wasted. And also, most people won't be familiar enough with your particular bag to give meaningful feedback. It is plainly disrespectful to ask others to do QC for you if you won't put any effort yourself into a first pass. Do you like when people come to you asking for help with something when it's clear they haven't tried to help themselves first? Before you're asking for QC, before you're even ordering, you should be familiar with that bag's attributes. You should have read reviews. You should have read other people's QCs. You should know what your dealbreakers are, what tier of accuracy you're going for, what you do/don't care about being accurate (something will ALWAYS be off on a rep). You don't need to be an expert to do a first pass. 99% of us aren't experts. At the least, try using ChatGPT to help you first (though I can write a whole separate post on why using a text generator is not ideal for photo analysis). Your best bet for getting QC feedback is telling us your observations and coming to us with specific questions or concerns that we can address.
  • Your post has almost no photos on it. Good QC posts will have multiple detailed photos in multiple angles, and ideally give us side-by-sides of your pre-shipment photos with the factory photos.
  • The photos are bad due to lighting or they're blurry or not detailed. You need to ask your seller for more photos, and ideally ask for photos in natural light as well if color is a concern.
  • You are trying to compare your PSPs to the auth. The expectation is before you paid, you did your due diligence by comparing factory photos to the auth and determined you were fine with the factory's differences before placing an order. From there, you should only compare factory photos to your actual item because the only things you can "RL" (red light, i.e. reject) are defects against the factory photos. If you're at the PSP stage, it's too late to do auth comparisons.
  • You're asking us to QC an item from a factory that does not allow you to RL, so there's little to no point as you cannot reject that item even if we find an issue. Research the factory you're using before you commit. Some of the best factories for certain styles do not allow RL. That's a risk you have to be willing to accept if you choose that factory.

What I've described here is not advanced, it's 101. It's table stakes. We're doing crime. This hobby is 90% reading/researching and 10% everything else. If you cannot put time and effort into this, it's not for you. Not because I'm mean, but because I care and don't want to see you get scammed, and you're advertising yourself as a target by being underinformed.

We're halfway through the year 🗓️ Which bag have you used the most? Which have you not touched this year? Why?

Let's chit chat! Sharing pictures is encouraged!

I've seen quite a few people tracking things like their cost per wear or usage over the past half-year. I'd love to hear from the community on your most and least reached-for bags.

What made you reach for your most used bag? Was it more practical that you expected? Comfort, capacity, versatility, durability, outfit compatibility, or something else?

Was your least used something new that isn't working for you, or something you fell out of love with? Did your style change? Too fussy to get in and out of? Heavier than expected?

Handbag friends? Where is everyone? 🔎

We're split across multiple subreddits, but across all of these subs, it makes me a little sad to see daily threads with no interaction, or no daily threads at all. I love the guides, QC, reviews, and memes, but where's the chit chat? My posts have gotten a lot of engagement the past week, so I know many of y'all are still yearning to yap like me 😂

It seems like this used to be a lively community with hundreds of people regularly engaging and chatting with each other. I believe Wagoon went private per What happened to the other rep groups? : r/RealRepLadies, so maybe there are lively communities outside of my reach. Did everyone else migrate to Discord or something? Struggling to find any links. Did it all dissipate? Where are my fellow yappers congregating?

PSA: Be aware of the risks before diving into reps. We doin crime, babe.

Just came across someone that didn't know you can get global entry revoked for buying reps, so let's spell out some of the risks that you take on when entering this world.

Newbies beware, this isn't Nordstrom, and there are risks, and you will have no recourse.

  1. Global entry revocation (for USA buyers). If your package is seized by US customs, you and everyone in your household can have global entry revoked, or simply have global entry denied when you try to renew it. You will not be able to appeal, and as far as I know, this is a lifetime ban. If you work in the federal sector or ever want to, buyer beware when purchasing reps from overseas sellers.
  2. No chargeback protection. You will have little or no recourse if anything goes wrong because you are buying counterfeit goods.
  3. Sellers may disappear after payment. This is why it's important to READ THE REVIEWS when considering using a seller. However, this has happened with trusted sellers with hundreds of transactions as well. Joe Luxury scams : r/RealRepLadies
  4. Bait-and-switch. The QC photos may not match what you receive. The materials may not match what you were promised. This is why it's important to READ THE REVIEWS when considering using a seller.
  5. Customs seizure. If customs intercepts the package, you often lose both the item and the money unless your seller offers insurance, and even then.
  6. Inability to RL. Some factories do not allow you to reject an item unless for egregious quality defects or sending the wrong item entirely. Get familiar with the factory photos, make sure you're using a trusted seller, and READ THE REVIEWS of that seller and factory.
  7. Payment accounts can be banned or suspected if they detect counterfeit purchases.
  8. Doxxing risks. There are several sellers that have doxxed their customers. You are sending your personal information to unknown overseas sellers. Jessi and Doris (TS) have both doxxed.
  9. The reviews you read might be fake. PSA: I was recruited to post paid reviews for a seller – sharing my experience and screenshots : r/RealRepLadies
  10. No returns, and you'll probably lose money on resale. Most of us take a loss when cleaning out our closets, in some cases a massive loss.
  11. Potential use of unsafe materials (lead, etc.). Be wary of what you put on or in your body, especially jewelry. Does this mean it’s lead positive, can I still wear my bracelet if it is? : r/JewelryReps
  12. Fake contact numbers. For the love of God, stop asking every random person for the phone number of their seller and do some research. What's stopping the person DMing you from giving you their number, sending you fake pics, taking your money, and ghosting you?

By participating in the purchase and sale of reps, you're knowingly participating in crime. If you don't do your research, you WILL get scammed. If you do everything right, you still might lose your money. If you're not willing to accept these risks, don't participate.

What do you have to add to the list?

To what extent does the logo matter to you versus the design? Case study: CC Quilted PVC Splash Flap

The coco splash came out in 2018 and ever since, it's had a chokehold on the rep community, especially in the summer months. While they're no longer repped, when these come up every once in a while, I see dozens of people flock the OP's inbox ready to pay hundreds for a PVC bag.

I fell into the hype, and while I was doing some searching online, I stumbled on a dupe which can be found for $20-50. It didn't quite spark anything for me, and I wondered why. Sure, the original has lambskin and the dupe is probably PU leather (read: plastic), but I don't think I cared that the coco splash flap was made of lambskin in the first place as 99% of it is PVC.

While I ruminate on my own motivations for getting into reps, I'd love to hear from you guys. To what extent does the logo matter to you versus the design? Would you buy the dupe? Why or why not?

What's causing the confidence barrier? Do your reps not match your lifestyle? Are you acquiring reps so fast that it wouldn't look believable to friends/family?

Judgement-free zone. I'm just curious about the underlying beliefs that may be driving the recent posts, which got me thinking about the cognitive dissonance I believe some of us may experience around buying reps of some brands, or acquiring a lot of reps in a short amount of time.

Say someone knows they couldn't comfortably buy an auth $35k B25 or $10k CC, but they own a rep anyway. If they believe their style or rate of consumption should match a certain kind of income/lifestyle but it doesn't, that mismatch creates an internal tension which may cause the owner to feel a lot of discomfort or fear around wearing their bags. In turn, their lack of confidence becomes the giveaway that it's a rep, not necessarily the bag itself.

So, if you do experience a lack of confidence that causes you to never wear some of your reps, what causes it? And for those that wear them anyway, what advice do you have to overcome a confidence barrier?

The latest post from u/Aggravating_Tough782 points out that most people aren't looking at you, and many rich people wear reps anyways. Does that knowledge free you to wear the reps or is it something else?

Do you own any of these bags? 💕 Please influence or de-influence me! 🙏

Hello my friends! I've been keeping an eye out for these bags in sale threads and haven't had much luck. I don't know if it's because not many people own them, they're not repped well, or current owners love them so much they'll never part with them? I also honestly haven't seen that many reviews on these bags, so I'd love to learn from you all. Any owners care to shed some light on their experience with any of these reps, and tell me if I should/shouldn't seek them out?

Small Powder Pink Lady D/D-Joy:

Reason I want it: I've been obsessed with CD for several years. To me, this bag represents peak femininity and also represents me feeling comfortable enough in my girlhood to express myself with cute things again. Ever heard the phrase "healed so hard I like pink again"? That's me with this bag. It takes my breath away and I'd be so happy to carry it to important events. I also love the various ways to carry it with the top handles and cross-body strap, and the D-joy coming with 3(!!!) carry options makes it so versatile. The small size is perfect for everything I want to carry.

Reason I'm hesitant: I'm struggling to decide between the shapes (Lady is so classic but seems less practical, D-joy the majority of my bags are east-west bags). I've also heard that CD is not very well-repped, and the light color gives me a bit of pause because I fear color transfer, so I probably won't wear it as often. I've heard the bag is annoying to get in/out of due to the flap, is that true?

CC 22P Iridescent Green (“Peacock”) Classic Flap Medium:

Reason I want it: I mean... That color is insane. That shine is insane. I've been lusting over it since I saw it a month ago.

Reason I'm hesitant: I already own a black CC WOC and I'm not sure I'd get as much use out of the green color. I think it's a really elegant evening bag though. I heard Blake and Rome did this bag, but Rome only did two runs, and one batch is less accurate than the other (more blue with a green shift than green with a blue shift). Also I hesitate to spend $$$ on a bag I've only been aware of for a month lol.

GG Red Small Jackie:

Reason I want it: I don't own a red bag! I'd love to add a pop of color to my wardrobe. This is such a classic and of all the red bags I've researched it sings to me the most. I love the lobster clasp, and the name is a bit sentimental to me for personal reasons.

Reason I'm hesitant: Is this repped well? I almost NEVER see Jackies available and have literally never seen this colorway for some reason. I've also read reviews of hardware issues. How easy is it to use?

Lo Puzzle Bags - Ghibli Collab:

Reason I want it: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? This collab is the stuff of my dreams. My husband and I love Ghibli movies, and Howl's Castle/Spirited Away/Totoro are movies I grew up with. They remind me of childhood whimsy and they're my comfort movies to this day. Also I don't own a Lo bag, but I think I would like the structure because my most-worn bag is boxy.

Reason I'm hesitant: I've heard that puzzle bags are really hard to get in/out of, and I've also heard this collection isn't repped well and has some very obvious signs (e.g. the soot sprites will have punched out irises and the stitching on the legs will typically be less straight, with fewer stitches. Have also heard the straps are bad.

If you own one of these bags, please share with me your thoughts!

Advice on QCing... Transparent overlays!

Hi! I know QC can be tough especially when comparing images side-by-side. It occurred to me that a lot of people post their QCs without having done any analysis themselves as maybe they don't know what to look for, so I thought I'd post about one of my methods for QCing that I find really helpful, especially for structured bags.

As a reminder, when choosing a seller/factory, compare the factory photos to auth. Once you've ordered, compare the factory photo to your PSP (NOT the auth to your PSP).

  1. Grab an auth photo or a factory photo depending on where you are in the process. In this case I grabbed from CD's website as an example (which isn't really a best practice since they're edited).
  2. Map out angles and placements on the auth. I put it in Canva (free account) and drew lines where the auth seams are and placed circles where I want to pay attention to some details. Where does the flap meet the rest of the bad? Where does the seam disappear into a corner? Where is the hardware placed relative to the seams?
  3. Grab your factory photo or PSP depending on where you are in the process. In this case, I grabbed a random one posted a few days ago. Most important, you want to be sure the image you're using is at the same or very similar angle to the comparison photo.
  4. Line up the PSP with the auth by playing around with the PSP's transparency and adjusting its size and rotation to match. Set it low to make sure it's aligned, then set it high to compare the lines and boxes!
  5. Play around with the transparency slider to flip back and forth. Do the seams line up? Is the hardware in the right spot? Is the shape, structure, and size correct? Is the color and shine right?

I'd love to see more QC posts where the OP has already put in some effort so we can all learn from each other. I hope this is a helpful tool ❤️ I'll continue to post advice as I think of it.

"Wrong color? Color-changing bag?" No. My advice: ask for multiple photos, including natural light!

Especially for light-colored bags for which it can be hard to convey the true color in photos, if you're concerned about the color accuracy, ask your seller for multiple pictures in different light sources! Pictured here is my Xiao C Small Beige C25. You'd think photo 4 and 5b are two completely different bags if I didn't tell you otherwise, but most of these photos were taken minutes apart while I'm running around to different rooms and turning on/off the lights like a mad woman.

Hope this helps!

Hello! I'm new to the world of reps (about a month in) and thought I'd give reviews on my tiny collection. Both were purchased as rehomes. I'm also a bit bored of reading ChatGPT's voice so please excuse that I did not use AI to make this post more ✨ refined.

C25 Small Beige, purchased for $260:

This one comes from Xiao C and is an older batch, the replady I bought from purchased it probably late last year. I give it a 9/10 as my only issue is hardware weight. If lightweight hardware bothers you, note from my research that this is likely to be an issue on almost every C25 rep! The color, size and structure, slouch, hardware color, stitching alignment, pockets, and smell all seem good to me.

LV Speedy Dark 30, purchased for $250:

This one allegedly is from Royal. I give it a 9/10 as well. The weight is spot-on to the auth (0.9 kg) and the color of the canvas looks right to me. My only issue is that the stamp "PARIS" is off-center in the side profile of the bag, but this is usually covered by the strap and chain when they hang down. The interior is leather, there is a seam going down the middle interior at the bottom of the bag like the auth, the LV logo is slightly cut off by the stitching on top like the auth, and the embedded NFC microchip scans with my phone! The order of the symbols on the chain is correct, the chain is heavy, the lock looks right (both the logo and the key insert at the bottom). These are areas where I've seen lower-tier reps cheap out.

Lessons learned:

If I could go back in time to my first couple of purchases and give myself advice, I'd say SLOW DOWN. Like, maybe take a couple of weeks before you buy the bag you just learned about. I think when I started buying reps, I immediately want to buy the first one I see that matches in name, and I definitely went down that road with the Speedy Dark 30. It was a good price and I jumped on it, only to be unhappy. Stalk rehome subreddits for a few days and familiarize yourself with the types of bags that pop up. Ideally, drop into a store and try these on your body. Feel the weight of the bag, compare the size to your frame, look at the color in person, assess if this bag makes sense for you and your lifestyle. Does it fit your phone and other goodies you usually carry? Do you have a different bag that suits the same function that you'll reach for more? Does the color mesh with your wardrobe? Is it too heavy? Where/when will you wear it? Would you feel less confident carrying a bag that you wouldn't have bought or been able to afford as auth?

Yes, reps cost less than auths, but between two bags I've still spent over $500 on handbags, which is way more than I usually spend on clothes and accessories and is worth pausing and considering if I'll actually wear it with confidence before I buy it.

Going into any purchase, ideally, I have already...

  1. determined which bags I want to buy and how common they are (if it's a coco splash flap, those pop up rarely and are very popular so I need to move fast, but if it's a C25 or Speedy 20-30, there's a million of them and you'll see another posted within the hour)
  2. am familiar with the common rep issues that differentiate from an auth and thus know what pictures to ask for (I know what the inside should look like, what the weight of the bag should be, how long the chain is, color/size/placement of the logos, stitches land, what the bag usually comes with, what the lock looks like, how the bag or SLG functions (e.g. inside pockets), etc.)
  3. know which factories or sellers are usually associated with high tier for that bag, and
  4. know what a good price is for what I want so I can move quickly when I see it.

I know these things because I go on reddit, search for the bag I want, and read tons of reviews/take screenshots. I also look at people's QC posts and see what others say is a callout on the bag.

I'm open to any opinions on these bags and what you consider a callout when you're purchasing as I'm still learning!
