I'm designing my new room from scratch, what should I take into account?

We're moving into a new house, and my parents want me to design my bedroom from scratch. Are there any elements to consider from a non-toxic point of view? Bed sheets? Floor type? Lighting? I'd be happy to show you pics of the room if that helps.

Is it normal for the whiteness to wear off here?

this part at the neck of the racket was as white as the rest of the racket. I used it once and when I took it out of its case today it appeared grey.

Here we go - Racket Advice

Hey everyone, I'm an old player and it's my first time playing in a while. I used to play with a DropShot Explorer Pro 5.0 and it was amazing. Low balance, not a soft racket, not much ball output. I like to play with a racket that I know what to expect from it. Back then before playing with this one I played with a Tecnifibre WallBreaker 365. A soft, high-balance, tear/diamond racket. It was an exemplary racket but for the right player with that style, not for me.

Come 2026, I want back in the game, I still have the skills given that I played 2 games with my DS racket and performed exceptionally well. I want to buy a new racket. Open budget. Something that resembles my Drop Shot Explorer Pro; low/medium balance, Teardrop, large surface area/sweet spot, because one thing that irritates me is missing my shots. I would rather not miss my shots than sacrifice them for power. Lastly for it to not be soft nor too hard (back in the day I tried a Volt 800 and it was as hard as wood.)

I play on both sides exceptionally well with almost perfect forehands, bandejas, and volleys. The only thing missing from the Drop Shot Explorer Pro was power. In smashes, I really need to use my shoulder a little extra to make the ball bounce out and therefore feel a little fatigue, but that may have to do with the racket's foam being old.

I really feel like I can't emphasize this enough, but the racket was absolutely it. It spoke to me. I hope you can help me find something similar. I live in West Asia and have access to shops in that area esp. the Gulf countries.

The first racket that came in mind was the NOX AT10 Genius Alum 12K 2026. What're your thoughts?

Looking for a CM Punk vs John Cena MATCH

I remember watching this around early 2010s and the momentum was so high there were 4-5 finisher attempts from each of Cena and Punk with last second kick outs. There was a hurricanrana and a powerpomb performed by both superstars. There were no interferences. Help me find it

Best way to clean my home's water tanks?

Hi there! We live in a village and we store water in tanks on the roofs of our houses. The water is usually pumped into those tanks from a local well. However, we recently saw that the inside of the tanks are pretty dirty (dead insects, leaves, dirt) and need to be cleaned up. Someone suggested using chlorine after removing the water entirely then adding it back up. Is this safe? I believe chlorine is on the toxic list

Hawza students proficient in Arabic, can you translate this statement into English?

I would like to know two things:

  1. What these instruments are called in English
  2. If these instruments are used, regardless of haram or halal purposes, they are prohibited to use or listen to. Isn't that correct?

How bad are antiperspirants

Given that I have Hyperhidrosis [excessive sweating from the palms, pits, and feet], or at least used to by a far greater degree, I used to rely on antiperspirants like Perspirex and Shield Dryplus Xellence (sensitive version). The latter says it's fragrance-free, vegan, and allergy tested if that makes any difference.

However, I have noticed two things. With perspirex I felt that my nerves around the area I applied it on were slowly dying. They weren't, really, but it felt like they were weaker on the days I applied it on them. Could this be from the aluminum? I know they have it as a major component. Two, my whole body felt too relaxed? It's like I was on a high dose of magnesium. I had to use it for 6-7 days in a row to see results. Anything less wasn't practical. Applying it for large amounts may have been the reason I felt that way?

I stopped using these for the past 6 months and I feel great. Yet, with rising temperatures and greater humidity, I am thinking of going back to them occasionally. I would still prefer not if someone can further convince me not to.

Swimming shorts?

Was wondering whether the swimwear we currently use or see in pools and beaches considered toxic? What do you think could be worn that is potentially better?

Need to get rid of insects in my garden. Is Bacillus thuringiensis - Bt safe to use?

I spoke to a pesticides applicator who told me he'd use this to get rid of mosquitoes in my garden. I've tried over the counter sprays but nothing worked. He said it's completely safe and won't harm the crops and trees nearby.

Prostrating on tissue - pay attention

I have seen many people in our communities and in this subreddit suggest prostrating on paper tissues like it is a casual alternative to earthly materials or a Turbah. Paper tissue is not always made of 100% natural materials. You have to ascertain that the product is 100% natural, which is not always the case.

Question: Is it permissible to do sajdah on writing paper and on paper tissues, especially, if is not known whether or not the raw material they are made of was from items on which sajdah is valid?

Answer: It is not permissible to do sajdah on paper tissues, only after ascertaining that they have been made from items on which sajdah is allowed; it is permissible to do sajdah on paper if it is made from material on which sajdah is allowed or from cotton or flax.

Abusive father and how to approach matters without crossing boundaries

Salam alaykum,

Before writing this post I was scrolling through some posts in this subreddit, and when I look at what my fellow brothers and sisters are going through I feel ashamed to even put forward my struggles and arguments. It suddenly feels useless. The Imams told us what a believer will go through. It is a fleeting world. I hope to see you all on the doors of heaven, satisfied, our hearts filled with content, with not an ounce of justice withheld from us.

At-Tawba (9:129)

But if they turn their backs [on you], say, ‘Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god except Him. In Him I have put my trust and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.’

Aal-i-Imraan (3:174)

But if they turn their backs [on you], say, ‘Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god except Him. In Him I have put my trust and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.’

My matter seems idle right now. To sum things up, how do I (24M) deal with a father who has anger issues when his actions are taking a toll on me mentally (not mentioning the harm he has done to my mother and siblings.) He does not harm me physically, but he talks to me like I am something he owns (let alone how he talks to my mother in public) and expects me to abide by his commands all the time. Of course, I am aware of the dignified rights of one's parents incumbent upon him, but sometimes when they cross personal boundaries, such as interfering with personal privacy, making choices on behalf of me, speaking on behalf of me, or making fun of my personal preferences and life choices, the relationship's outcome becomes toxic, not one uprooted on mutual respect. If anyone else in the fam were to do the same to him he would turn the heavens upside down. His close family members like his brothers and sisters (my uncles and aunts) and his mother (my grandmother) are kind of replicas but in different forms (envy, selfishness, haughtiness, etc.) When we visit them he (my dad) gives them a sense of loftiness which if any of us (my mother, siblings, or I) were to disprove of their actions he would go ballistic. There are a few things to take into account. He works outside the country and visits every 2-4 weeks for 1-2 weeks. When he visits, he starts planning outings with his family (with us included, because how can we say no?) and we're forced to go and sit for hours listening to the same talk (weather, news, relatives, or how great his actions are.) Basically, he is possessive. I have been enduring this for years, and the more I mature and learn about religion, the more I understand how wrong his actions are. I have tried a few times (each separated by a couple of months because his anger needs time to subsume) to bring up a topic in the most delicate of ways, my tone calm, in an undertone, and it would end up in a blocked road. Either he would pretend like he did nothing wrong or get angry. One of the biggest issues is that he truly thinks that what he is doing is good. If you were to speak to him he would talk to you in a tone of pride like he did you a favor. On top of that I would like to mention that he is someone who has obsessive thoughts (وسواسي) [not sure if that's what it means in English.] For instance, he would ask me to do something for him (order something, for example), then when I am in contact with the other person, he would change his mind, then change his mind again, and the third party would get irritated. I am still dependent on him (kind of) so I am living with him (when he is in the country), even though he is pretty well-off financially and can let me live independently, but he obviously wouldn't. This has been hurting my mental health and overall wellbeing. I have reached a point where I cannot look at him straight in the face and try to avoid contact as much as possible respectfully. Hearing his voice has even become irritating and thinking of even spending time with him would make my stomach turn. I will stop here to avoid excessive length of words. I would appreciate anyone with insight into such matter. I know that respecting one's parents is one of the greatest deeds of worship and has blessings from Allah swt, but what can I do here? Wassalam.

Might delete this post sometime later for matters of privacy

What is wrong with clothes that have just under 20% polyester in them?

With the rest of the mix being cotton. Also, does it leech into your skin when you workout (i.e sweat) or even when you don't sweat; as in simply just contact with the material? My workout clothes are mostly a mix of 70-80% cotton and 30-20% polyester, and I only wear them on my way to the gym and during warm up, then I take off the t-shirt. Is this helpful? I only recently learned that polyester is harmful and is the equivalent of plastic bottles but for clothes.
