Could be just a fake one for travelling but did anyone notice this?
Driving up the back of BM and there were at least 6 cops. 1 at the roundabout by the childcare centre. Two pulled over by the apartments further up ask then 3 cops pulled up one of the dirt roads with gates just before the dog park. It looked like they were looking for someone.
Drove home from lake Cowi at quarter to 11pm on Saturday night last weekend. Not a cop or road block in sight. I’m so curious to know when they were out doing their checks. I was shocked not to see any enforcement at that time because I’d assume that’s when the concerts ended and people headed home.
Hello! I’m having a simple backyard wedding next year with under 60 guests, and I’m looking for some advice on wedding commissioner costs.
I’ve emailed a couple of marriage commissioners who service the Westshore area, and I’ve received very different pricing.
One commissioner quoted $79 plus $0.63/km for travel, along with the separate $100 marriage licence fee that you purchase through places like London Drugs.
Another commissioner explained that the government fee is $79, plus the $100 marriage licence, but that the overall cost they charge could end up being $350–$500 depending on how much time they spend preparing the ceremony and services.
Obviously, I’m leaning toward the cheaper option, but I’m wondering if there are any hidden costs I should be aware of or questions I should be asking before booking.
For those who have hired a marriage commissioner in the Victoria/Westshore area, what did you pay? Was the higher price usually because of extra planning, meetings, personalized scripts, rehearsals, etc., or is there usually not much difference for a simple backyard ceremony?
Thanks!
(I want to do the bare minimum. No changing the vows and only one meeting)
Just got this phone a month ago. A couple days I woke up and realized my phone and my garmin watch was hour ahead.Went into my clock and changed both devices to the correct time. This evening, my iPhone clock has gone back 1 hour. wtf is happening?
Where can I find the best teriyaki rice bowl in Langford?
Question for Glp1 users. My doctor upped my dose but I have had terrible diarrhea. My oura ring says Major signs of strain. Is this because of my injection being to high or am I fighting a bug? Anyone had experience with this?
The post about the machette attack had a lot of information regarding some of the “gangs” in Vic. The people who kept naming a gang and being called racist here is proof that, this is what they choose to identify themselves as and same as this group who call them selves sp6. These accounts have videos of minors assaulting one and other and speaks about the gangs mentioned in those posts. Please if you’re a parent make sure your kids aren’t following these accounts. Also I don’t understand posting your self engaging in illigal activities. Report!
Has anyone else noticed that gym etiquette at the gym seems to have changed over the years?
I completely understand it’s a public gym. Everyone pays to be there, everyone has different experience levels, and nobody is going to be perfect. I’m not talking about someone taking a little longer on a machine or resting between sets. This also isn’t directed at every teenager or every gym goer. It’s just something I’ve been noticing more often lately.
One thing that’s been bothering me is that if someone wants a machine, they’ll stand there and stare at you until you’re finished. Today someone stood about five feet away watching me the entire time. I’d only been on the machine for about four minutes when they asked how many sets I had left. I told them, offered to let them work in with me, or said I could come get them as soon as I was done. They didn’t want either option. Instead they asked me again, “So how long are you going to be?” and even questioned whether I was actually going to do the number of sets I said I had left. At that point it felt less like they were waiting for equipment and more like they were trying to rush me off it. It honestly made me really uncomfortable.
I’ve also noticed groups of high school boys taking over areas of the gym. They’ll crowd around equipment, wrestle, yell, and seem completely unaware that other people are trying to use the same space. I know not all teens act like this, but it’s something I’ve seen enough times that it’s becoming frustrating. Half the time they also leave plates loaded on the Smith machine or squat racks instead of reracking them.
Maybe I’m just getting older, but I feel like the unwritten etiquette used to be giving people some space, asking politely if you could work in, reracking your weights, and being aware that other people are sharing the space too.
Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just having bad luck?
This is such a disappointing decision. Early Childhood Educators bring specialized knowledge in child development, play-based learning, emotional regulation, and building relationships during one of the most important years of a child’s life. Kindergarten isn’t just about learning letters and numbers, it’s about helping children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.
Removing ECEs from kindergarten classrooms means fewer supports for children, less opportunity for individualized learning, and more pressure on teachers who are already doing so much. Investing in our youngest learners should be a priority, not an area for cuts. Every child deserves the best possible start, and every educator deserves the support needed to provide it. This is a sad step in the wrong direction.
I have found multiple dead birds on Peatt road this week. Their bodies are not damaged in any way so I don’t believe it’s an animal that’s killing them. They also seem to be the same species. Has anyone else been seeing this? What is happening?
Question for anyone who has recently got their certification from the bc registry. Did they change the format of the certificates? Just got mine in the mail today and it looks completely different than my Coworkers who were certified a couple years ago.
Is there anywhere in the Westshore that will fix a leather couch? My dog ate the leather cover off of the couch cushion.
On Peatt road it sounds like a fire alarm or a train. What’s happening?
This is where the very old WSPR centennial centre is. Does this mean WSPR will only have one location now? No more art studio?
Which place is most affordable? Glow tan or Mayan sun? I can’t find any prices for glow tan.
Thanks!
This page is clearly a Langford wannabe gang. They post videos of fights it’s not only disturbing but absolutely embarrassing. Please report the page!
The GVL in Langford is a lovely space and I come here often in the afternoons. I want to be clear that I have no issue with teens being here, playing games, or using the computers. That is what community spaces are for.
What I do have an issue with is the volume and behavior. There is consistently a young adolescent playing Roblox or Fortnite, which is completely fine. The problem is that while playing, they are loudly swearing, taking phone calls, and having full volume conversations. Today they brought a friend, and because the library was so busy, there were reservations for the computers and they could not sit together. One was at the very first computer in the row and the other was at the very last. Instead of keeping it down, the one at the end kept getting up and walking back and forth across the row to talk, and they were also calling out to each other across the space.
Before anyone says to move or wear headphones, there was nowhere to go. The library was packed and computers were reserved. I was wearing noise cancelling headphones and could still clearly hear them. This was not just background noise, it was genuinely disruptive.
I also want to address something I know people will bring up. I understand neurodiversity exists and I am neurodivergent myself. This is not about excluding anyone. It is about shared expectations in a shared space. Libraries are one of the very few places people can go specifically for quiet, focus, and regulation. That matters for a lot of people, including those with sensory sensitivities.
Inclusion should not mean that one person’s needs completely override everyone else’s. There has to be some balance. Quiet spaces need to remain quiet or they stop serving their purpose entirely.
This is not about one person existing in the space. It is about repeated loud and disruptive behavior that staff do not seem to be addressing.
I also do not feel that it is my place to confront children about their behavior. There were two librarians at the front desk, and managing noise and maintaining the environment is part of their role. It should not fall on other patrons to enforce basic expectations.
Libraries are for everyone, including the people who rely on them being calm and quiet.
Why post all of these TikTok’s if you can’t explain what’s going on? All she says in the comments is “one day I’ll be able to share” “it’s a problem with no solution” mouthing I hate my life
