TL;DR: all submissions will be manually reviewed from June 4th - June 19th to prevent y'all from being spoiled. We're looking for mods, you can apply here (https://forms.gle/QkuKXjvYtyjHjas47)
So as y'all should know by now, Episode 9 is going to be a special episode for the The Amazing Digital Circus community. The final episode is going to be released early on June 4th in theatres in many countries. This will bring many new fans towards the community, especially ones that have never heard of indie animated series and are interested in learning more.
When The Last Act releases, it is natural there will be people who won't follow the spoiler rules. Maybe they're too excited and just wanted to share their thoughts on the events that occurred. Maybe they're genuinely stuck on stupid and didn't read the rules. Or maybe they are trolls that wish to spoil the contents of the episode to people who cannot view it early. Regardless of the intent, the result will be harmful to the community to people who won't be able to see it until much later. Especially towards the final episode. The climax and ending of one of the greatest indie animated series of all time.
Therefore, after lots of discussion, we have decided that this subreddit will not be allowing any spoilers for the 9th episode. From June 4th to June 19th, we will be manually reviewing every single submission sent for spoilers, approving ones that are clear, and removing ones that are not.
As a refresher, all posts about the newest episode must be tagged as a spoiler. We define spoilers as any information exclusively derived from the final episode. This includes but not limited to:
- Events of the episode
- Screenshots and photos
- Audios
- Videos
- Fanarts of the previous
- Jokes/Memes/References of the previous
Posts where the title contains a spoiler will be removed, as spoiler tags cannot blur titles.
Comments made under untagged posts that contain spoilers will be removed.
After June 19th, we will allow submissions to be made without prior mod approval. All rules still apply
Right now, we are seeing over 2,000 submissions every day. When Episode 8 released, it went up to 4,000 submissions every day. That is simply impossible for a small moderation team like ours. If we were to do it by hand, it would effectively kill this subreddit. That is why we will be releasing moderation applications. We are looking for about 10 or more peeps to help out.
Your task, if chosen, is to help moderate through every submission sent into this subreddit for potential spoilers during the spoiler period (June 4th - June 23rd), help respond to modmail questions, and participate in discussions with the other moderators. You will be briefed about how spoilers are enforced and what are considered spoilers.
Do note that this is a limited temporary volunteer position, meaning you will only have the mod privileges necessary to remove posts and users (you won't be able to edit rules or the sub's appearance), won't receive any monetary compensation (as that is against Reddit's Moderator Code of Conduct), and will most likely be removed once the spoiler period is over. We may or may not make an exception and offer a permanent spots for exceptional performance, but please don't assume this to be the case.
Considering this post is made over a month in advance, I hopefully should not be seeing anyone post spoilers, or complain when we remove their post.
