The great re-brand: greenberries and bread with cheese

The power of rebranding food so that my toddler will eat it! The past few times we’ve served homemade pizza, he hasn’t been into it and just throws it on the floor, but he loves bread, so pizza became bread tonight. Likewise, I was worried he would chuck his peas on the floor, but he’s been really into blueberries and strawberries lately, so the peas are officially greenberries lol. Sure enough, he ate most of his dinner happily. Loved the greenberries especially😂

My body is so wide after pregnancy

Basically what the title says, but I’m really struggling with how wide my body is after pregnancy. I’ve gained about 25lbs that I’m working on losing, and I’m okay with how I look in a side view, but oh my gosh my torso and hips are so much wider from a front view. I used to be so slim and slender. Is this permanent or do you think losing the weight will help?

editing to add I’m breastfeeding and am 13mo pp

Does anyone know a Linden tree I could harvest flowers from?

I’m an herbalist and just moved back home to the orchard park area. The Linden trees just started blooming and I’m wondering if anyone has a tree in their yard or knows of a tree that I could harvest flowers from?

I make a Linden flower syrup and tincture each year and would love to keep the tradition going because it’s a very special thing for me! I’m happy to share the syrup and/or tincture with the tree’s owner if you’d like :)

(I’d really prefer a tree in an area that has not been recently sprayed with herbicides/pesticides if possible)

Thank you!!

Why is it so hard to lose weight?

I’m 13mo pp and at the 11mo mark I decided to get more serious about losing the 40lbs I’ve gained. I was worried about a supply drop before that point and my baby was finally good with eating solids so I felt okay about chancing it.

I’m a SAHM so I don’t really have time to do a trip to the gym or any real workout besides a long walk each day, so I was mostly just reducing calories where I could. I feel like the weight is coming off sooo slowly, like a pound every two weeks, which is so discouraging. If I cut calories even more, I feel I’d be kind of starving myself, and I think what I’m eating now should equate to more rapid weight loss. I’m not counting calories because mentally that’s just not a good fit for me.

Just feeling really frustrated because I’m feeling the urge to eat more than I currently am, but I’m so so so uncomfortable with my body and I’m just so antsy to feel like myself again physically. This is the hardest!!

editing to add that I’m breastfeeding every couple of hours during the day, or sometimes every hour, and have partially night weaned recently so I have about an 8hr stretch at night where I don’t breastfeed (but still have really broken sleep and am up with the baby). I’m hoping to breastfeed for at least 2 years! And hopefully feel better in my body without all this extra weight on me.

Stunted flower spikes?

My enc radiatum has four flower spikes right now, and they all seem to have stopped developing? This is the biggest one. It was growing fast at first, but then the top buds stopped developing while the lower buds continued to grow and fan out. The other three spikes have stopped growing too. What could be going on?

Road trip with a very active 12mo

Looking for some advice in anticipation of a road trip with my 12mo later this week. GPS says the trip is 6.5 hours, so I’m imagining it’ll take us closer to 9 hours with breaks? The longest we’ve ever driven with him was 1.5 hours and that was back when he was 4mo, so things are quite different now.

We will of course take breaks every 2-3 hours and are thinking of leaving early in the morning so that he will snooze in the car a bit and do his morning nap while we drive. I’ll be sitting in the back with my son to keep him entertained and soothe him when he’s sad, but I’m hoping to gather some ideas for keeping him distracted on the drive. We’ve never done any screen time, but are thinking we will have some low stimulation shows or videos to show him in case it all goes to shit haha. He’s just started walking and is very active in general, so I’m worried about keeping him contained in the car for so long.

I’d love to hear any stories of parents doing similar trips or any ideas for the drive! Thank you!

Just wanted to share my delight at the fact that three of my orchids are flowering right now! I’ve never had multiple flower at once before.

My mini vanda with those sweet tiny orange flowers- flowering from a new baby plant for the very first time!

My phal with the pretty white flowers- flowering for the third time in 2 years!! She’s been so generous to me with all these blooms.

My enc radiatum- last flowered three years ago with only a small spike of three flowers, and is now growing FOUR spikes at once (two pictured that are growing fastest, and the other two are just starting to poke out)

I am thrilled. Caring for orchids is such a rewarding thing! Wow. I’ll update again when the enc radiatum blooms open!
