Constitutional Law—Becoming a Republic

Am I right in thinking that, were it the wish of the people to no longer be a nation subject to the English crown—as much as we might still be, then all New Zealand need do is unlink the office of the Governor-general from appointment by the monarch and remove the vestigial recourse to the Privy Council in London?

Anything else?

The Governor-general would still be the Governor-general but now appointed by parliament; parliament itself would still be 'the crown', etc. No reason to frighten the horses, all simple and easy. No new office of president to develop, no extra pomp.

Can I eventually add a battery in parallel with an existing battery?

Dear Hive-mind.

Can I eventually add a battery in parallel with an existing battery? -- that's it mostly.

I will have a household rooftop solar installation with a 15kWh battery. If I discover I need more capacity, can I just add another, say, 5kWh alongside the existing battery and get them wired in parallel?

(Heating is a big heat pump; car is electric, water heating is electric.)

Roof paint recommendations, please

Hive mind: I have a simple corrugated iron roof currently painted red, that is going to need replacement one day. What surface coating (paint, I presume) can I use to extend its life as long as possible?

Weather conditions unremarkable; rare frosts. Single storey; intending to paint it myself.

Thanks in advance.

Does the CGA allow recourse to the manufacturer if a car has been bought at auction?

You might not need to read past the bullet point...

Do I have recourse under the CGA (or anything else) for this:

  • 18 months ago I bought an ex-lease car by auction from a well-known car site.
  • It's a 2018 Korean EV -- I like the car
  • Very low mileage when bought (25k km genuine, from service records) now about 45k km.
  • The car has developed a well-known serious fault -- so well-known it has a nickname, and I have four pages of internet comments about it, half from NZ; different people.
  • It's gearbox and/or motor bearing faults, known as the 'wheel of fortune' from its sound. In some vehicles the bearing(s) wear out very early, much faster than you'd expect from a bearing normally
  • Currently well within the new vehicle's warranty mileage limit, but not time; IE the 5-year warranty has expired.
  • The type of fault is not time-dependent, though, but relevant only to use/distance travelled.

The manufacturer is known to push back against this claim, but has supposedly fixed it in NZ and worldwide under CGA or similar legislation -- the US NHTSA made the manufacturer issue a Service Bulletin about it.

My Question: Am I excluded from CGA/other legislation because I bought at auction? Would a CGA/other legislation claim succeed?

Taurine sensitivity? Is it a problem?

Madame La Fleabag (not her real name) throws up after eating wet beef food, and only that. I've heard of taurine sensitivity but I don't know whether it is an indication of something more serious that needs attention. Otherwise, Fluffybutt is healthy, I think.

Furball is a desexed lady of six years. Grey tabby of diverse heritage; I've not weighed her but she's lithe with a generally small stature. She has gained a little weight over a year and is now a little more rounded than she was. New Zealand; indoor/outdoor cat. No other conditions, though there's a persistent rumble from the tummy area particularly while being stroked. Gets worse if you scratch her ears.
