Criticism of a depraved Harpist called «Horudja». The writer says this filthy man's voice and performance are so horrible to the point Sekhmet and Horus wanted to kill him. 2nd century CE. [2002x3000]

>It is sadness and suffering for the soul to hear the voice of this dreadful man when he sings. He is truly a deplorable singer, and he only sings well-known songs.

>He goes to the temple when he should not, and makes the god hear what they hate.

>How does he present himself at a festival? Like the best in his art. He sits down, looking very important, like a real singer, and he lifts the harp to sing, thinking in his mind, he is a virtuoso.

>No one realises that he is a huge fool because his stupidity overwhelms the public. He sings in a shrill voice,  even when his mouth proclaims his own glory. Whoever sees him singing is afflicted for the day.

>There is no need for many words, because he has all the faults. Who taught him to play the harp?  From whom did he learn to sing? His interpretation is jerky because his usual task is digging, his skill is watering. His fingers are like gnarled wood, they are not made for a harp.

>His voice makes more noise than a heavy shovel. He has innumerable faults, more than in the songs of Busiris.

>Isheru's mistress became angry with him - the great Sekhmet. He is overcome by her plague,  he is overpowered by her anger.  So he will never again carry his harp before the mistress of Egypt.

>In his old age he is full of horror, he is oppressed by filth. Horus is very angry with him; he is going to get killed by the son of Isis.

>He was given the name Horudja  even though "Arsehole" is the name that suits him.

>A great song for the temple of Mut, an adoration for the mistress of Egypt,  it is a true masterpiece whose meaning he manages to pervert.

>We would have said: "He acts out of ignorance", and no reproach would reach him for that. But he has only silence from doctrine, he draws no benefit from the words.

>In fact, he has learned but he knows nothing, he has received teaching but does not retain it. Like a mute person who understands but cannot answer correctly.

>Like a fool who takes up a book and remains dumb in front of all the texts. He has not known any song except one since his birth : "I'm hungry! Give me a drink! • What is there to eat?" What about the one who cooks • in front of him, if he sees meat?

>He is quicker than a fly to blood, faster than a vulture which has seen carrion.

>He will be able to spend four days awake  looking for some food that is hidden. If someone shouts to him: "Meat!" in a loathsome place, he is present, with harp in front, but he does not . . . a man who is dirtier than his neighbour.

>And whoever displays bread and meat to him, he will go to his house without being invited. And he will say to the venues: I cannot sing if I am hungry.

>I cannot raise my harp to play unless I have had my fill of wine. Order it! And he drinks wine for two, eats meat for three: food for five in all.

> But the harp weighs down on him, like an uncomfortable burden. So that every person must be made to say, three times each: "Sing!"

>If he starts to raise his harp when drunk, then all of his vices comes to light.

>He turns the harp with his hand, he sings again 'The faults of women'. When he begins to raise the tune, his mouth sings his glory. But what he sings does not match his playing; his voice and harp are discordant.

>His poor performance shows his disregard of the music. The gentleness of good manners, he has not even begun to understand it.

>He cannot be accepted anywhere because of the number of his faults. If he is full, he puts away the harp; if he is replete, he leaves.

>I would mention the misdeeds he committed, but they are more numerous than those of Seth. He went in a funeral procession to the West last year, from Psonis to Akhmim.

>He acted as a sacrificer,  but I cannot say what he did there: "It's not even worth talking about," as they say to make their meaning clear. He declared the animals good for sacrifice, even those protected by the god . . .

>He disregarded the seal that sanctified the animals . . . and he ignored even the supervising priest. And then, whatever was brought to him on the block, he stabbed . . . with a knife. And he was the first to eat the meat . . . without knowing how to cook it.

Summer cordial and herbal tea from black currant leaves

Black currant leaves cordial is refreshing and sweet, carrying the scent of freshly rubbed leaves over into a delicious drink. Picking the leaves go quickly and making the cordial is easy.

  • 10 liters bright green blackcurrant leaves
  • 10 liters water
  • 80 grams citric acid
  • approx. 16 dl sugar

Rinse the leaves. Bring the water to a boil and stir in the citric acid. Pour the hot mixture over the leaves. Leave it in a cool place overnight. Strain off the leaves, add the sugar, and bring to a boil. Pour into sanitized bottles or other containers. You can drink it fresh or freeze it for later.

---

Blackcurrant leaf herbal tea is made by steeping 1-2 teaspoons of fresh or dried leaves in a large cup of boiling water for 5-10 minutes before straining out the leaves and optionally sweetening the tea.

Traditionally herbal tea made from black currant leaves have been taken for fever, diarrhea, dropsy, inflammations, urinary tract infections, gout, rheumatism, coughs, whooping cough, colds, and sore throat. Externally, it has been used as a gargle for sore throat, hoarseness, and mouth ulcers, and the leaves may be applied to stinging insect bites and used as dressings for slow-healing wounds and boils.

There are no known ill effects or max dose of black currant used as a herb.

Do these half free morels look good?

Just foraged these today, first morels ever so very excited. Many of them have a small hole or two near the base, is that normal/should they be fine to eat? Some of the caps are also pretty dry, is that normal?

In another post here u/ToxicShadow2912 posted [Seeking Recs] for the most feral smut fics you know. I did come up with a few recs there in a hurry, but when several others asked for more, I figured I'd take some time to make a more thorough rec post here.

All fics are finished stories and I've sorted them into three categories:

  • Hot with a side of plot: These might be kinky, but are generally consensual and nice.
  • Off the Dark End: Here's the nasty stuff, so wrong it's good.
  • Fun with tentacles! The original posting especially asked for monsters.

And please, take note of the stories' tags! This goes doubly for the dark bunch.

Hot with a side of plot

The Sentinel - Jim Ellison/Blair Sandburg

Fruit of the Vine by Aristide

Words: 20 372. Summary: Smut in gradual increments.

My rec: This is an intensely sexy roller-coaster of a fix-it. It comes with some very human, very believable stomach-punches of true heartbreak, and ends with a burning hot reckoning. Enjoy the strawberries!

The Mummy - Ardeth Bay/Evy Carnahan O'Connell/Rick O'Connell

Her Echoes, They Surround by OzQueen

Words: 3 780. Summary: If he beat the monster from Hamunaptra only to go to hell for this instead, it would still be worth it.

My rec: The best things about this fic is that if feels like a natural extension to the movie - and to Evelyn's character: there is no regret, only joyous adventure.

World Wrestling Entertainment - The Shield

Portmanteau by kenjideath

Words: 15 758. Summary: Roman accidentally-on-purpose reads Dean and Seth's sexts, but it's not because he loves them or wants to be part of their relationship or anything. That would be totally weird, right? Right?

My rec: Feelings and hotness perfectly wrapped.

Blitz (2011) - Tom Brant/Porter Nash

Remedy by thedevilchicken

Words: 8 409 Summary: Sometimes, the remedy is almost worse than the disease.

My rec: Super hot, super in character. Yum!

Top Gun (1986) - Maverick/Iceman

Kings of the Air by FabulaRasa

Words: 24 903. Summary: Fighting and fucking: two things he did extraordinarily well. How could he have known what the effect would be when you combined the two?

My rec: Maveric finally opens his eyes--late, but good. Turns out he sees some very hot stuff too.

Supernatural - Dean Winchester/Sam Winchester

The Air Moves In by britomart_is

Words: 5 275. Summary: It's not about Dean. Really.

My rec: Tense, hot and so wrong it comes out right.

Supernatural - Benny/Dean Winchester, Castiel/Dean Winchester, Benny/Castiel/Dean Winchester

Caught Between (Four Things Benny Teaches Dean, and One He Doesn't) by kickflaw, kissyn

Words: 6 904. Summary: Dean gets whumped by sex pollen in Purgatory. Benny and Cas help him out.

My rec: Everything is better with more Benny.

Off the Dark End

L.A. Confidential - Ed Exley/Bud White

Payback by astolat

Words: 5 994. Summary: Looking through windows, opening doors.

My tags: Rape/Non-Con, Foe Yay, Smut. My rec: Whoa! This shouldn't even work, but…

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Hawley Griffin/Edward Hyde

Explorations by handful_ofdust

Words: 3 387. Summary: Sometimes, Griffin gets ideas that even he knows he cannot possibly afford to indulge.

My rec: Rather dark and frighteningly good.

Sherlock (TV) - Sherlock Holmes/John Watson

A Thorough Examination / In Depth by emungere

Words: 15 884. Summary: Sherlock watched John's mouth as that smile slid away too quickly. There had been something there, something he'd not had time to analyze. He was left with the unsettling impression of having witnessed an expression that didn't belong on John Watson's face at all. In its wake it left the equally unsettling thought that perhaps he didn't know John as entirely as he thought he did.

My rec: Dangerous methods are tested and the outcome uncertain.

Original work (free) - M/M

Brains Over Brawn by MaineBoyXY

My tags: Rape/Non-Con, Manipulation, Dom/sub, Foe Yay, Angst, First Time, Chastity Device, Blackmail, Original Slash, External Source, Smut. My rec: Revenge of the nerds, chastity belt included.

Original work (free) - M/M

Special Forces: Soldiers by by Marquesate, Vashtan/Aleksandr Voinov

Novel length. Summary: Special Forces is the story of a Scottish SAS soldier and a Soviet spetsnaz soldier. Two enemies who meet in the line of duty during the early days of the Soviet Union's last war in Afghanistan. (...)

My tags: Violence, Rape/Non-Con, Power Play, Military, Foe Yay, Original Slash, External Source, Knifeplay, Smut. My rec: Love across the Iron Curtain; on the knife's edge, literally. Original slash novel and gripping, hot page-turner. Take note of the "non-con" tag.

Fun with tentacles!

Original work - F/M

Slime Sacrifice?! A maiden's nightmare! by Tomoko Kaiawate

My tags: Het, Original Slash, External Source, Humor, Crack, Tentacles, Short story.

My rec: Cthulhu Jr. get a visit from a fair maiden.

Star Trek - James T. Kirk/Tentacles

Ooo by yeaka

Words: 1 842. Summary: The first new-fangled planet they find is totally awesome, except for the minor, teensy-weensy problem of too-horny plants.

My rec: Oooh! And tasting like coffee too!

---

For anyone wondering if the original works counts under "AO3 recs" I promise that they truly are bookmarked on AO3 as "External works". ;)

Hope you enjoy! And if you like these recs and want more in a similar vein (but with more plot), just ask.
