Wish Arendelle Private Table?

We are gong on the Wish for first time. My 3 yo is obsessed with Frozen so we picked this ship. We’ve been on the Dream and Fantasy and requested a private table which was nice with a baby/toddler. I’m looking at videos of the restaurant and it looks like the community tables might be closer to the stage. If we request a private table, are we likely to be far from the stage? Would it be better to request closer to the stage over the private table if I want my daughter be close to the performance?

Open Evidence Progress Notes?

I recently discovered that on epic you can control A in the notes section and copy every single note in the chart. If you paste that into open evidence under new patient and then tell it to write a note… well it does and the note is really good. At least in the limited time I’ve spent playing with it in the last hour. I’m debating using this for my notes… it’s honestly better than mine and I have noticed any issues. Obviously I’m reluctant and skeptical… but the notes I’ve had it write are frankly pretty good. Outside of it not being my exact format and the fear of getting lazy and putting something in that I shouldn’t… I kinda want to use this. Is anyone doing this?

Best way to track yearly expenses?

I’m working on my retirement planning and trying to figure out what my actual yearly expenses are. I’m having trouble because my spend is split across several credit cards (travel and Amazon/costco cards to get points but never carry balance), and bank accounts. The past few years we have made some major purchases too (electronics appliances and furniture) so just looking at spend on the cards isn’t accurate. I could go through each monthly statement with a calculator but it feels tedious).

I don’t need help with budgeting or saving (I’m saving about 30% of gross income and still have plenty for frivolous stuff). But I’m wondering if there’s a good tracker app that I can use to get a better grasp on where the money is going and what I’ll actually need for retirement. Do any of you guys use these? Is it worth the effort to set this up or should I just sit down with a pen paper and calculator and do it the hard way?

New 401k help

I’m a boglehead and just got a new job. My old 401k had fees so I rolled into my new one. The 401k balance is about 500k. I have another 300k in brokerage that is 70/30 VTI/VXUS and 80k in a backdoor Roth with similar split using fidelity zero funds. I also have an HSA that’s basically the same.

My new 401k funds aren’t great. The only acceptable ones are FXAIX and FSPSX. It’s close to a total market but leaves out emerging markets and small/mid caps. There’s also vanguard target dates but I wasn’t planning on owning bonds yet. I’m 42 yo physician so my cash flow is pretty safe.

Would you guys do those two funds or just fxaix? Debating just increasing my VXUS with future purchases in the taxable account (3 grand a month is automated to my brokerage). Or just do the target date that more closely matches the rest of my portfolio and accept the glide path?

Edit. I mispoke it’s FSPSX not FTIHX

Unifi Travel Router on DCL?

I have a unifi travel router. I’m curious if it works on the cruise and if anyone has had and luck getting it setup with disneys wifi? I plan on only paying for 1 wifi connection anyways and just sharing with my wife. But if we can both use it in the room it would be nice. Anyone ever get one of these working or do they block it?

401k into Roth or Traditional?

42 yo hospitalist with 350k a year income. My wife is 35 and a stay at home mom to a 1 yo and 3 yo. I’m maxing my 401k, back door Roth, and HSA plus 36k a year to taxable brokerage. I have about 1 mil saved currently. House will be paid off in 18 years at a 2.3% mortgage

I’d love to retire in my early 60s. I’m wondering if I should be contributing mostly to my Roth 401k instead of traditional? My thinking is that if I’m below Medicare age and my kids and wife still need my health insurance, it might be more affordable if I’m drawing from Roth accounts and keeping my taxable income lower to qualify for ACA subsidies? Or am I overthinking this and better off taking the tax break now on my 401k?

401k International Option

My new 401k funds are decent but not ideal. I have access to FXAIX (sp500) but no total market fund and access to FSPSX (large cap international without emerging markets).

I have opted to just stick to 100% FXAIX in my 401k and make up the difference in VXUS and VTI in my other accounts (I max 401k and back door Roth and contribute about 36k a year to taxable brokerage). But I’m second guessing myself and wondering if I should do FXAIX/FSPSX in my 401k and then go VTI/VXUS in the taxable and just slightly underweight mid and small caps and emerging markets?

Individual Secured Retirement Plan?

My PE practice group is rolling out a new company retirement plan. They call it an SRP plan. Apparently the contributions go in after tax and grow tax free (sort of like a Roth but without limits). They are offering a company match. They claim it will have institutional pricing on their funds (they said over 200 funds including a Schwab SP500 fund with 0.03 ER). They claim it’s portable as well and self owned. It sounds too good to be true and I don’t have most of the details yet. What are some of the pitfalls or things to watch out for that accompany this. I assume there’s going to be fees of some sort but there’s no mention of it. Anyone have any experience with similar plans? I’m skeptical.

Edit: solved. It’s variable life insurance. I knew it was too good to be true

Wish Tips?

We have been on the Dream and Fantasy a few times and love it. We are going on the Wish for first time. It’s also first time with 2 kids (youngest is now 1). I’ve seen a few stories about Wish shows being hard to get seats to. Is this true? Anything else we should be aware of that’s drastically different from the smaller ships?

Gift for wife on cruise?

I’m surprising my wife and daughter with a Disney cruise. My daughter’s birthday is on embarkation day and my wife’s is the next day. I bought the birthday decor and flowers from the cruise line so it will be there when we get on. My wife is a jewelry snob and almost all of what she wears costs thousands. The cruise was already expensive so I don’t want to add more jewelry to the mix. I need ideas for something small and affordable I can give my wife on the second night. It needs to be something small I can sneak on the ship or buy it on the ship when she’s not looking. Nothing big since this is the real gift, but I want to give her something on her birthday. I thought about spa treatments but I’m not sure if she would like that.

Do I really need bonds?

I’m 42 and make about 350k a year as a physician. I’m investing about 90k a year between 401k plus match, backdoor Roth, HSA and taxable brokerage and already have about 800k invested. My money is currently 100% in stocks, mostly some variation of VTI/VXUS except the 401k and HSA which don’t have total market funds and are sp500 funds. I am holding 150k in money market too as emergency fund. All of my money is automated and will be invested regardless of market conditions and I have no intention to sell until I’m ready to retire in 23 years. I keep reading about Warren Buffets 90/10 and seeing videos about not needing bonds if you have a good cash engine. I was thinking I could swap to bonds when I get near retirement age. I have also seen some videos with advice about keeping 2 years of cash equivalents in retirement to use as your “bonds” and simply spending that during bear markets and then replenishing it when the market recovers. Curious what the thoughts are on here as this tends to be the more conservative sub. Thanks all for your insights.

Best fund to park emergency fund?

I’m migrating all of my accounts to Fidelity. I have a six figure emergency fund currently. I’m opening a new account to hold it. Should I do a brokerage or a CMA account for this? I just need it to transfer to my main CMA account if needed - hopefully never. Is SPAXX my best option with Fidelity or is there a better money market for an emergency fund that I hopefully won’t be touching

How to tell if account is CMA or Brokerage?

I opened up a taxable brokerage account and a CMA account. I’m using the CMA as my primary checking account. Both accounts are staying brokerage on them. Is there any way to confirm which account type each account is?

Edit: Appears they might both be brokerage. Is there any reason to change to a CMA account instead of brokerage outside of the foreign atm fees?

Should I fire advisor if I’m getting good returns?

I’m late to the party on this (41 yo IM doc) but I’ve recently taken a more active role in my investments after getting my loans taken care of and reading here and on the website. I have a 1% AUM advisor who before learning about what 1% can do to my future investments I liked working with. He did get me out of debt and on the right track. I went into my meeting with him prepared to fire him, but before I could he pulled up my returns with him. Over the last 4 years, including my fees, I’ve gotten about 1.5% returns above the S&P500. For instance right now S&P500 has a 1 year return of 20.8%. I’ve gotten 22.8% with him. I know this won’t be every year. But am I stupid for keeping my money with this guy?

Vanguard Target Date or FXAIX/FSPSX in 401k?

I switched jobs and my new job uses a Fidelity 401k. Im 42. My income is about 350k and I’m maxing my 401k (4% match with about 400k in it) as well a backdoor roth (about 50k total right now) and contributing to a taxable brokerage 2k a month(200k currently) and an HSA. My other accounts are all roughly 70/30 of VTI/VXUS.

The new 401k pretty much only has 2 viable options in the funds.. either a vanguard target date (2055) or Fidelity SP500 (FXAIX) and international (FSPSX). There’s no total us market and FSPSX is not as diverse as VXUS.

Would you guys stick to a target date or go with the closest matching Fidelity funds that attempt to mirror what I’m doing in the other accounts. I’m not sure if I need to be holding bonds yet at 42. The TDF has about 9% right now. I do have access to FXNAX if I want to add it.

Disney Inspire Credit Card and DCL?

Has anyone used the inspire credit card on DCL? I just got it and I noticed it says 3% back on Disney Locations INSIDE the US. Does this mean it doesn’t give 3% back on dcl since it’s not in the US? I believe the ships technically based in Bahamas. If not I’m not sure if this is worth it if I don’t get 3% back (outside of the sign up bonus). Are any of the onboard discounts worth it? I get 2% back on my other card

Automated Order Notifications in App

I set up automations to pull 500 from my CMA account and then the invest in my brokerage account into 3 funds. Every week I’m hammered with 6+ notifications saying order partially filled for each transaction. I don’t need these. Is there any way to disable it? I’m not seeing it in the app

Disney Inspire Credit Card Vs Costco?

We live in Florida and my family of 4 typically goes to a Disney park 1-2 times a year and takes at least 1 Disney Cruise (3 this year) a year. In the past we have always booked through Costco Travel and used my Venture X credit card (2% back in addition to the Costco discounts). I also use the Savor card for 3% back on streaming (Disney plus bundle).

I just saw the new Disney Inspire card and I’m wondering if this is a better option. Has anyone done the math on if this card is worth it? You have to book through Disney direct to get the bonuses so you can’t use Costco or a different travel agency. Does Costco discounts plus travel card still beat this out?

Pay off cars early?

I’m pretty sure I know the answer but just want a sanity check on this. I have 170k in my emergency fund which is currently 12 months of expenses. I owe 60k total on my 2 cars one at 5.6% and another at 6.1%. I just got my loans forgiven so I have no other debt outside of mortgage. I assume it’s a good idea to dip into my emergency fund and pay these off then repay myself to get back to 12 months of expenses? I’m currently maxing out all of my tax advantaged accounts and a taxable brokerage with about a total save % of 20%. We have a few less expensive vacations planned but no other major planned expenses coming up.
