Accepted canon timeframes in fanfic

Hi, I have a little idea brewing but haven't been super involved in this fandom even though I still read the books from time to time. The final book seems to canonically be set in 2000, the year it was released (this can be assumed from the use of email and updated fashions) but obviously if you base it off of book 1 they would have graduated 8th grade in ~1988.

So what's the most widely accepted canon timeframe? I realize it's fic and I can set it whenever I want but I'm just curious. I'm inclined to accept 2000 as the end of 8th grade but for all I know people hate the final book being so modern. I took a peek at some of what's available on ao3 but it wasn't particularly enlightening.

Trying to hate pan, I'm not sure I have the strength

Posting here because the lovely people on this sub sometimes have good ideas on how to use product up more quickly. I cannot get past the smell--at first it has a mild berry scent but it very quickly turns to a cheap perfume smell once it's on my lips. I could *maybe* deal with that if it had some sort of amazing effect--but it doesn't and in fact I'm afraid it's drying my lips out.

The thought of throwing away the almost full pot, for the price I paid, really boils my piss. But I'm not sure I have the constitution to get to the bottom 😭

So tell me, any other uses for this besides lips? Cuticles or something perhaps. I don't know y'all I'm just desperate. Or should I just give up the ghost and toss it?

[TOMT] [Internet Post] Cat looks like he's going to call Drake a pedophile

This was possibly a Twitter post, but it might have been bluesky, threads, or even reddit. Someone sent me the screenshot of the post, which I don't have, and I can't find.

It was a picture of a wild cat of some sort (smaller, like a bobcat) that looked oddly sassy and cunty. This was shortly after Kendrick Lamar's super bowl performance. Caption/text of the post was something along the lines of "cat looks like he's about to call Drake a pedophile."

[TOMT] Old web page showing timeline of movies set in the future

I saw this, probably on reddit, in ~2010 or so. It was a really well designed web page that showed a lot of movies (possibly including books and TV shows) which are set in the future, and the years in which they occur in chronological order. There was, as I recall, a lot of scrolling to see them all as it went up to certain stories that are set REALLY far in the future (such as Dune.) The background was black or dark, that's all I remember.

When searching I came across a few graphics people have made on this topic but can't find a web page. Maybe gone forever but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Creamy Peach Pie Bars 5/10

No deviations other than I added some raspberries because I wanted them out of my fridge. This was simple to make and the crust is the best part, but unfortunately these were very mediocre overall.

Do you have partners etc. who get annoyed at your startle reflex?

The title. My husband has started being. Offended I guess? At me jumping when he comes up behind me and I don't hear because the water is running or something. I never lash out at anyone when it happens, I just jump and sometimes make a small noise of surprise. He says it makes him "feel like a stranger in his own home." He got so angry about it the other day that he just left the house. I once had a boss who got super annoyed at it too.

But I literally cannot control it. It isn't like a lot of other symptoms that (at this point) I can mask or try to deal with internally on my own. I went from my brother and random assholes I dated thinking it's funny to trigger it, to this man I really love and built a life with actually feeling slighted by it. I don't really understand his perspective on it, maybe if I understood it more I'd feel less sad about his reactions? Can someone help me understand?

We've been together for nearly two decades, it's not like he doesn't know about my issues or understand the condition. I've started thinking he's finally just getting sick of all of my problems, but no matter how far I've come and no matter how much I've healed, i don't know how to control this one specific thing.

Altitude Trampoline Park selling information to scammers?

Had family in town last week, went to trampoline park with child. I signed the required waiver, which included providing my email address and phone number.

Less than an hour later the same day, I'm suddenly being inundated with more spam calls per day than I've ever had and getting sign-in requests I didn't make on my MS authenticator app. It might not even be that they're selling it maliciously, could just be security issues with their setup? Question mark?

I'm not a cyber security expert, I know it's possible it got out there some other way, I just can't help but feel suspicious of the timing.

Just a heads up.

Kid's book to help my 8yo nephew cope with hearing loss

He has experienced some loss in one ear due to an accident. After my sister found out, she started the process of taking him to doctors to figure out what exactly he needs (I'm not sure the level of his hearing in the one ear, or if they're going the route of cochlear implant, etc.) My sister is divorcing her husband, partially because the dad was freaked out about "having a disabled child" (throw the whole man away)....my nephew hopefully hasn't picked up on any of that, but he feels a little insecure and worried about it and I think the divorce upheaving his life so much hasn't helped his emotions during this time.

They're coming to a hearing specialist in my city soon and I wanted to get him a little something. I guess the general vibe I'm seeking is "it's okay if you have hearing aids/cochlear implants! Differences are our superpower! You are not lesser! This could actually be really cool!", these are the sorts of books I saw in the 90s for kids who were "different" with various medical issues and such.

He's in 3rd grade, going into 4th (I've noticed a lot of these books skew really young). He loves Minecraft, Super Mario Brothers, and Spiderman. I'm sure "Spiderman Gets a Cochlear Implant" doesn't exist but just giving a general rundown of what holds his interests in case there's something specific.

This feels like such a crazy specific request, but if anyone has any suggestions--especially parents dealing with similar things--I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance.

This NYX corrector is the right shade for my skin tone but I find the formula a little...chalky? I was thinking a liquid-based formula might be better but I'm getting nervous looking at other peach correctors online because some of them seem really comparatively orange.

Drugstore prices would be nice but if you have some HG product that is pricier I'm listening!
