My Michael Jordan PC (update!)

Thanks for taking a look at my Jordan cards! My collection has grown quite a bit since I posted it here a few weeks ago. I’m now at about 225 Jordan cards, with a mix of cards I owned as a kid, cards I picked up before the market took off, and a bunch of more recent additions. I've been going to card shows and trading events (there are a lot of them in NYC!).

When I was a kid in the ’90s, I was heavily into card collecting. I was 10 during the 1992-93 NBA season, so MJ was far and away my favorite player despite being a Celtics fan. I collected for a few years, stopped around high school, and got back into it a little before the pandemic. At this point I pretty much exclusively collect Jordan.

A lot of the collection goes back to when I was a kid, although the 1993 Scoring Kings and 1992 Beam Team were two cards I always wanted but could never afford on a middle school budget. I got pretty lucky and bought both around 2018 for roughly $150-200 each.

The graded cards are first, and then the raw cards in Card Savers are the ones I’ve narrowed down as my next grading candidates. The goal remains an ’86 Fleer rookie. The Kobe on the last page I found in my childhood bedroom last week - all those cards in the end I'm hoping to grade when the value tier reopens and contribute to the Fleer RC.

Let me know what you think!

My Jordan Collection

When I was a kid in the 90s, I was heavily into card collecting - and as I was 10 during the 92-93 NBA season, MJ was far and away my favorite player (despite being a Celtics fan). I collected for a few years, and stopped around high school. I was getting back into it a little bit before the pandemic, but since his cards have exploded, I've been building the collection back up from where I left off and I now exclusively collect his cards. I sent a bunch in to be graded by PSA and am working up to the dream of an 86 Fleer rookie.

As of now, I have 205 Jordan cards. All the cards shown here were from when I was a kid, except for the 93 Scoring Kings and 92 Beam Team - which were always my absolute favorites but I could never afford them on a middle school budget. I got SUPER lucky as I bought them online in 2018 for like $150-200 each. The first photo is my whole collection, then the graded slabs, and the top loaders are the cards I'm waiting for the PSA value tier to reopen so I can get them graded. The last two pics are of an assortment of non-Jordans that I want to get graded too (and then resell to get more MJ cards!).

Spend the weekend in Disney in early June - some reports on the new rides and shows!

As a DVC member at the Boardwalk living in NYC, I try to go as much as I can - but when there was a conference in Orlando the first week in June, I jumped at the chance to go for the first time since February 2025. I was excited to check out the new stuff and wanted to report back for those of you who haven't gotten on the newest attractions yet. My wife and I always try to pack in as much as we can each day, and ended up doing seven parks in two days!

New rides and updates (SPOILERS below):

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: we LOVED the new update. The track is not only smoother, but it has an extremely satisfying subtle and bumpy "chug chug chug" feel that felt really cool and addicting. It was a little more noticeable at night when the whole park felt quieter, for some reason. The lighting effects in the first cave are subtle, but the gold nugget at the end is really great. The music is perfect. We went on it three times, and each time everyone held out their arms broadly as they approach the nugget like they're worshipping a god. It's hilarious, and I loved it. 9.5/10

Test Track 3.0: The best version of Test Track so far, in my opinion. The story and ride progression is a little tighter and slicker than 2.0, but not as clearly focused as the original. The first two braking sections are the most interesting they've ever been. A good improvement, but not earth shaking. 8.0/10

Soarin' Across America: I mostly liked this limited time update. I think it's better than the World version, but not as good as California. First, the knocks: some very blatant CGI is a little off-putting, and the angle they take to show Diamondhead in Oahu is fairly underwhelming. I also do not care at all for Mount Rushmore, and feel like that could have been replaced with something like Acadia or the Great Plains. The rest of the locales are pretty great, with Denali being a highlight. 7.5/10

Rockin' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets: I really, really like this reskin. The Aerosmith version may be classic to us but this feels like a better fit for the ride in 2026. I love all the props and sets tucked away in every corner of the queue (even some stuff brought over from Muppetvision), the preshow is a fun nod to the original with a funny play on the most famous line ("You know how we feel about our fans!"), and while the ride feels exactly the same, the new music is great. I wish they did a bit more to update the sets on the ride itself (it's mostly just paint on top of what was already there), but I'm a fan of the new version. 8.5/10

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run: Again, a great update! I love that the engineer role has something to do of substance (engineers are on Grogu duty), and the different locales (Bespin, Endor, and Coruscant) add some interesting variability to repeat rides. The pilot role is much less prone to atrocious, inexperienced driving as the range of motion side to side is definitely less than before. This is absolutely better than the Mandalorian and Grogu movie, which absolutely has no reason to exist and was completely forgettable (kind of like season 3). A significant upgrade from the original version and I'm looking forward to doing it again! 8.5/10

Zootopia: Better Zoogether: I absolutely hated this piece of trash show. What a disappointment. Not since the jump from Alien: Encounter to Stitch: Encounter did Disney so thoroughly cheapen and destroy something so interesting and cool. The new show is a nonsensical, boring, and uncomfortable mess. The joke about Shakira's character not being able to sing "Try Everything" because they'd be "sued" (or something similar) perfectly sums up to me why this is such a miss. They have great characters and music in a really colorful and interesting world, and I couldn't even tell you what happened in it even after two showings. They used almost none of the 4D tech in the theater that made "it's Tough to be a Bug" so interesting, and it just seems to be a "let's appeal to the lowest common denominator Disney fan" approach to a ride redo. It's fitting that Jason Bateman literally had no idea that he was in the ride - that's how much of a mess it is. 2/10

Despite the one (significant) misstep with Zootopia, I really enjoyed the new stuff. I'm excited to see what comes next with Cars, Tropical Americas, Monsters Inc, and Villains!

Edit: Spent*

Everyone know about Achilles, but very few people know about his brother Bophades

It's actually pretty similar to the story of Achilles. Everyone knows about how when Achilles' mother dipped him into the river Styx, making him invulnerable, she held him by his heel, thus leaving his heel exposed to injury. Bophades is similar - but instead of holding him by his heel, his mother held him by his testicles. So while most everyone is familiar with the story of Achilles' heel, very few people know about Bophades nuts

My attempt at a clean and balanced triple-monitor setup

Spent way too much time tweaking monitor positioning, component spacing, desktop audio stability, and accessory upgrades to get everything feeling as balanced as I can. Not to mention the need for constant hardware upgrades, haha. I use the setup for an equal mix of gaming, office work when I am able to work from home, and music. There's a Denon AVR and Kanto SUB8 subwoofer under the desk, which took forever to set up correctly (Windows does not love working with real AVRs).

Many of my components were acquired over time (and well before the RAM and memory price jumps, thankfully. I was lucky). I'll never stop working on it, but I think it's at a good place right now. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it!

It's not as bad as it seems - the 5090 FE I got for MSRP after selling a 4090 for the same price on eBay, and I got the RAM and SSDs for way less than listed here before prices skyrocketed. I've included every single component and accessory short of the Ikea desk. Any comments? I should probably get a better case that's not a furnace, although I love the look of the H510 Flow.
