Almost finished with the 8v

Finished the interior today and got the body on.

Only a small list of things left to do to get this project done.

Decals laid down on the Delta

The decals laid down quite well for being a non-brand make.

A few cracks in the main stripes which is something I always struggle with on Deltas. But these are limited mostly to the Dark Blue and Red areas which I think I have the correct paints to touch up with.

Got the white laid down on the Delta body

Took a little longer than planned to get the Fiat 210 paint put on. Had to make an emergency purchase of another can. I need to trim the painted from around the windows due to masking the interior off.

I've also got the underside painted. Next is the decision on whether to correct the interior mistakes Hasegawa have made or live with them.

Spent the weekend painting and fitting a Bora front to the wagon.

Rattle can garden job. Looks OK at 10ft. Just like the rest of the car 😅

New build has begun. Lancia Delta Integrale 8v

So I made a tentative start on this during the final stages of my Peugeot build. I basically cut the hood out of the body and started filling the resin replacement.

I'm using the Sanremo '89 boxing from Hasegawa and a conversion resin & decal set I brought from Ebay years back to make the Monte Carlo '89 version. The vents for the hood are photo etch and it's taken the best part of a week to get them blended with the hood. The centre of which had sunken and needed a lot of filler. Today I got the final primer layer down.

The body is almost prepared for primer.

I'm also using some resin wheels from Renaissance models. A couple needed some serious clean up on the inside. The centres are now painted.

The final pic shows all the reference material I got out to browse through. In the end only the event dvd and the Delta Vol1 book have provided helpful to this project.

Peugeot 205 T16 Evo1 from Tamiya finally complete

This project which started as a quick throw together job turned into a true passion project.

Thanks to those that have followed and commented along the way. The encouragement has kept my focus on this when it would have been easy to put it aside.

The kit itself is great and as usual for Tamiya fits together excellently. However the detail lacks in some areas and I felt needed to be brought up to scratch.

There has been lots of scratch building parts and details along the way. Most detailed in previous posts. But I have also resorted to some 'off the shelf' aftermarket parts and plenty from my spares box.

The following were vital to completing this build.

Top Studio hoses and fittings with a couple Decalcas versions used as well.

Renaissance models Photo Etch was used sparingly as its mostly designed for the Evo2. I also used their Boa Cord for the rear brake ducts.

And finally Ukrainian Scale Car Production's rear air ducts added the finishing touches to my super detail goal.

The decals are the original 40+ year old Tamiya ones. They needed some time in the sun to de-yellow them and they proved a challenge at times with their brittleness.

All the paintwork was either Spray cans from Tamiya and Hycote or brush painted with Tamiya acrylics or Humbrol and Revell Enamels.

I hope you enjoy the pics.

Got the rear hatch decalled.

Took a while to find time to carry on with this. But got the decals on the rear hatch now.

Just got to let them settle before applying some clear coat. Then onto final assembly.

99% done on the engine bay. Rear hatch painted.

Modified the air filter housing to add whatever it is that was missing. My research highlighted this type of air filter housing was only used on a few Evo1's and was used on this event.

I've also made the brake cooling ducts using some flexible tube, filled with super glue and squashed to create the tips and some rubber cord from Renaissance models to make the ducting hose.

The right side isn't routed yet as the glue is still drying on the tip.

I've also painted the rear hatch and will have the decals applied in a couple days once the paint has fully hardened.

Been working on the missing ducts.

Spent the last couple days getting the 3d printed ducts from USCP fitted and blended in.

It's now primed and ready for paint.

In the process I had to modify the rear window by trimming the excess plastic used for fitting off.

Now I can just about slide the window up from the bottom and the ducts pin it in place.

Work to finalise the interior

Added some switches and missing buttons/lamps to the dash. Found 6 3d printed switches in my spares from an old KMP build but I lost 3 when trying to glue then in place. So had to replace with bits of rod. See if you can spot which ones.

I also scratch built a handset for the radio from an old sprue gate.

Everything all installed and the final pic is of the side panels with the finishing touches added with fuse wire for the door release and strips of masking tape for the pull and check straps.

These were installed after the pictures were taken to finish off the chassis. I just need to get the glass into the body before that can be attached and installed.

Quick shot of the finished belts. Just logos to add.

Been working on these for the past couple days.

All parts for the harnesses come from my spares box.

A mix of 3d printed buckles and etch ones from previous KMP, Beemax and Belkits models. Even the ribbon is left over from Belkits or KMP.

And the 2 different ways the crotch belt is fitted is accurate to Vatanen and Harryman.

When you need eyelets

Getting ready to install the seats and harnesses. Needed some eyelets and not enough in the spares box. But what I did find was some photoetch rings. So I cut some discs from plastic rod and glued the rings to it.

Pic 2 is fitted in place after painting.

Pic 3 is the finished seats. Painted, decaled and the etch rails installed.

90% done with the engine bay.

Lots of fiddly progress with the fuel injection system lines. It's finally done and the rear of the roll cage is glued in. The front is just placed for now.

All that left to do for the engine bay is the air filter and make the cooling ducts. But that will be after the front body is attached.

I've been making steady progress with the interior.

Scratch build an ECU and added some wiring routed as per the factory cars. Just a few touch ups in the paint and the seats and dash to get this finished as well.

u/ajac01 — 2 months ago

Spent what free time I had today finishing the framing on the other seat and got the fronts painted.

I also needed a handheld fire extinguisher. So what better way to make one than to raid the spares box. This Lancia Stratos exhaust with some simple mods makes a good substitute. It also comes with a handle for painting lol.

Today has been spent attaching all the hoses and sub assemblies, scratch building the coils etc.

Probably another days work in the engine bay to go.

u/ajac01 — 2 months ago

Today's focus has been detail painting what needs it. Assemble the parts that need to be done prior to installing the engine/transmission assembly.

The major headache was installing the fuel pumps and fuel lines.

The plumbing for the oil cooler is the next step before slowly installing all the little sub-assemblies I've been working on.
