Wah/T-Wah/Auto-wah and regular wah on Spark amps

hi, sparky redditians

I wonder whether there's an auto-wah or wah effects on Spark amp series?

I recently sold my Katana 50ex gen 3 which has wah and auto-wah effects. And sold my thr10ii which didn't have any of wah effects.

I wonder whether Spark2 or other PG amps have this effect? At least auto-wah.

Constant hiss from Yamaha THR30iiw when on power adapter and using a cable connection

hi, redditians-thrians

Recently visited a private person who was selling yamaha thr30iiw + line6 relay

The seller said that a combo is almost not used and is in pristine state and combo + transmitter were bought at the same time. Also, he doesn't like playing electric guitar. An acoustic Furch was hanging on the wall. A stratocaster was on a stand.

What I faced:

  1. The wireless transmitter line6 was uncharged. Also, a receiver's jack was polished to matte
  2. Katana on stationary power was giving a constant unavoidable hiss which didn't disapper even after switching from single coils to a humbucker.

I was using the same cable as I use with other amps. The cable is from Fender and is silent with my Katana 50, yamaha thr10ii, microcube and all other devices. The guitar I used for test is completely OK (fender player strat HSS)

Hiss was present even on a clean amp models and didn't depend on anything. Switching between amp models didn't remove this hiss, as it didn't disappear between clean/crunch/hi gain amps and after any rotations of knobs.

When I was playing the same cable/guitar on my recently sold yamaha thr10ii, everything was silent or adequately hummed on hi gain amp models.

Is it a hardware issue of a specific thr30iiw or a hardware design flaw?

P.S. When I was leaving the seller's apartment, he closed the door very loudly ))) But his cat was sooo handsome.

Adding push-pull functionality to Epiphone ES-335 and ES-339 inspired by Gibson

As I know, modern epiphones Inspired by Gibson series don't have push-pull functionality. Previous generation of EPiphone ES-339 Pro had push-pull functionality.

I wonder whether it's possible to add push-pull to Inspired by Gibson series. Also, is it possible to find CST volume knobs of the same params with push-pull functionality?

Korg Microstation joystick doesn't return to center so a pitch is out of tune.

Recently bough a severely used Korg Microstation

Was playing argessive Korg leads, acrively using joystick in different directions, in both vertical and diagonal. Pitch started not fully returning to center position, so on release the tune sometimes stays in the wrong (not centered) position.

I wonder what should I do to fix the problem?

Also I found that the joystick in microstation is absolutely the same as in Krome, Knoros, M3 and other joysticky korgs.

Video recording of the problem in my microstation:

How do keyboardists play cheap synth action keys with acoustic instrument sounds?

hi, redditians

I'm an amateur keyboard player for last 20 years. I always hated cheapo synth action keys. They don't feel consistent when playing piano and other acoustic instrument sounds.

For example, synth action on Yamaha MOXF6, MODX6 (3 ply hamburgers of black and white keys), Roland FA-06 (which had separate keys and springs for each key).

I always feel that black keys are lighter than white keys, and black keys require less pressure to get the same loudness than white keys.

When I play Nord's waterfall keybord, all is consistent. When I play Yamaha MOXF8 with GHS keyboard, all is consistent.

Expensive synth action is feeling definitely better. Yamaha FSX, nord's waterfall, Roland VR-730 waterfall - all are completely consistent.

How to keyboardists adopt to playing such different white and black keys on cheapo keyboard actions? Or maybe I'm feeling smth wrong?

Pixel 10 pro XL is amazing and embarrassing at the same time because of video recording...

Recently received pixel 10 pro xl.

Amazing piece of gear. So smooth and sensitive when interacting with it's interface. Great design and ergonomics.

It takes amazing photos which look right. Shadows are shadows, counter light is handled gracefully. White balance, natural colors.

Overall experience is very pleasant.

Main question for me is video recording. I paid 1100USD for this device. And video recording quality is subpar.
Video stabilization is poor. When recording using zoom camera, the image regularly jumps, not smoothened, while it's completely possible to keep track of movement and make video transition smooth. Video quality is not catastrophic when recording on the main camera in good lighting conditions with minimal movement. Video recording quality resembles samsung smartphones from 2022. Video Boost on google servers looks like a joke.

Switching between lenses during video recording is also very noticeable, kinds position changes drastically. It's because of vertical layout of cameras.

Also, I'm afraid to break or scratch camera block glass. Separate camera glassess are more reasonable while not as stylish.

Why does Google sell pixels for such big money with such poor video quality and such poor hardware.

Using multiple electric guitars with Boss Katana

I own Katana 50ex gen 3. Great amp with nice clean and crunch sound.

My Katana has 8 presets which I can switch using GA-FC footswitch.

I own 2 stratocasters and Epiphone ES-339. All guitars have different output and different sound character.

And I feel that Katana has not enough presets for conveniently using it with different electric guitars without using BOSS Tone Studio. I have funk patches using wah effect and adjusting wah per guitar is not cool at all.

How do you guys use your Katanas with multiple guitars?

Maybe I need a guitar processor instead of Katana? At least in a processor presets can be namespaced for each guitar...

Am I the only one who prefer Squier Classic Vibe Strat to Fender Player Strat?

Yes, Player Strat has better hardware, satin neck, but.

Owning both, I play Squier Classic Vibe. It's lighter, more convenient. Laquered neck doesn't bother me a lot. Sound is more classic, stratty, glassy.

Thinking about selling Fender Player as redundant.

Am I the only one having such preferences?

S26 Ultra or S25 Ultra or S25 as a replacement for galaxy note 10

hi, redditians!

Yesterday I've broken my Galaxy Note 10 with a buggy touchscreen, so choosing a new smartphone.

I like s26 ultra which is slimmer and lighter and has a privacy screen, and is more rounded

I like s25 ultra for more premium feel and thicker s-pen )))

I like s25 for compactness and convenience

I wonder whether s26 ultra is much cooler than s25 ultra? Also, how do people perceive s26u screen?

I also really like iphone 17 base (not pro). But it lacks many important features for my usecases.

Harley Benton CLG-70SR vs CLO-70SR + dimensions

Recently ordered from Thomann 2 wonderful guitars - Harley Benton CLG-70SR and CLO-70SR

The guitars are very playable, but both need some setup (strings are too high)

I was surprised that CLG and CLO have the same depth (pretty deep). Can I assume that CLO-70SR is a deep body OM guitar?

CLO-70SR is more convenient, is very easy and pleasant to play. Unfortunately it doesn't have a pickup built in. I was surprised by bass response from this guitar. Bass is completely present, very articulate and pretty powerful. I guess it's because of rosewood back and sides (laminate). Sound is pretty trebly, the guitar is very sensitive. It's possible to strum silently and hear treble properly. I'd say this guitar is perfect for strumming and fingerpicking (Sigma OMM_ST was too middy and not as great for strumming).

CLG-70SR is more bulky, gives louder sound, is bassier and boomier. This wonderful armrest makes the guitar very comfortable to play. Kinda you play smaller guitar. When fingerpicked, this guitar gives solid middy sound, when strumming - it can be both bright and mellowly bright.

Sound profiles of these guitars are amazing for strumming. Scooped mids, very pronunced bass, which is not as boomy as in dreadnoughts. This guitars are not as middy as guitars with mahogany back & sides. I'd compare the sound to Yamaha FS830.

I'd say that both these guitars are amazing. I don't know other guitars of this price range with rosewood back&sides and such sound profile.

2 amazing guitars

The same body depth, CLO is smaller though, but CLO is pretty bassy too.

Both CLG-70SR and CLO-70SR have the same deep depth.

Can my new guitar with solid top hang on the wall without special care?

Recently received Harley Benton CLG-70SR with solid spruce top. Very playable and nice sounding guitar, also very beautiful.
https://www.thomann.pl/harley_benton_clg_70sr_ce_nat.htm

I bought Xiaomi Mijia 2 termo-hydrometer and can see humidity changes in time.
https://www.mi.com/my/product/mi-temperature-and-humidity-monitor-2/

The guitar is hanging on the wall, little drift of air, humidity is pretty OK. The graph of humidity/temperature changes are attached.

Should I care about keeping the guitar in a case with a humidifier?

Because I wish this gutar to hang on the wall and have instant access to it.

Black matte top of an acoustic guitar - how to you care of it? Or swap for natural colored?

hi, redditians

Recently ordered one wonderful guitar with natural matte finish, but Thomann mistakenly sent me the same guitar with black matte finish.

In some time I started liking this matte charcoal color. And the only question that bothers me a lot - is how to care of it? Will it become glossy in some time (while a guitar has an armrest).

How do you care about this color?

I can swap it for free for the same guitar with natural spruce matte color.

This black matte finish looks amazing, so stylish and it harmonises with rosewood back and rosewood fretboard.

Need your advices.

Recorded a quick demo to understand how it infers with my voice

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXYbd54alw8

The guitar is sounding really good. I accustomed to mahogany back and sides guitars, this one has rosewood back and sides and it's kinda not usual for me.

So I need your opinion on how good is this guitar sounding for accompanying my vocals.

u/aliaksej_by — 3 months ago

I ordered Harley Benton CLG_70SR - very nice looking and convenient guitar of grand auditorium size. The guitar has solid spruce top and laminated rosewood back and sides and an armrest which is very convenient.

The guitar is very pleasant to hold ergonomically. It plays well. Bass is here, but pretty focused. Strumming sounds good, but also focused. Each note sounds clear and articulate.

All is good in this guitar.

But I have no pleasure playing it. It feels like studio monitors. It devinitely good for recording, for fingerstyle.

But I don't enjoy this guitar. It's too sterile, focused.

I was getting more emotions and pleasure from full laminate Fender CD-60 and full laminate Harley Benton GS Travel Mahogany. More pleasure from Taylor GS Mini Mahogany.

Are my impressions about GA guitars in sync with what GA guitars are?

Factory strings:

  • Precision wound acoustic guitar strings
  • Complete set 012-053
  • Crisp sounding phosphor bronze wire with American steel hexagonal core for optimum tension and even volume
  • Nano-polymer coating for corrosion resistance and improved durability
  • Individually coloured ball ends for easy installation
  • String gauges: 012-016-024w-032w-042w-053w.

hi, redditians

I like gs ravel e mahogany, but it's made of laminate and sounds opaque and pleasant, but not bassy, and treble is silky and soft. Great travel guitar for the money.

But I want more bass, brighter treble, more definition of sound.

Recently I've found a "parent" guitar for gs travel mahogany

It's CLO-65ME. The same electronics, but full length scale and solid mahogany top.

Unfortunately there's no sound demos on Thomann, there's only 1 short video about this beautiful guitar.

https://youtu.be/GkKu71Ccd_Y?t=140

In this video the guitar sounds very pleasant. Definitely better than gs travel mahogany.

Are there any people on the forum who own these beautiful guitars? How does it play, how does it feel?

u/aliaksej_by — 4 months ago

hi, reddit

I want an acoustic guitar which is convenient, playable, good sounding, but also practical and don't require much care.

Have 3 options

Solid top grand auditorium - Harley Benton CLG-70SR
https://www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_clg_70sr_ce_nat.htm

Full solid grand auditorium - Harley Benton CLG-70ASR
https://www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_clg_70asr_ce_nat_allsolid.htm

Travel size full laminate guitar
https://www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_gs_travel_e_mahogany.htm

I wonder whether full solid wood guitar can hang on a wall all the time without a case and care. We have pretty humid air, but also air drafts and in the winter I switch on/off batteries in a room. Also pretty dusty in a room because of air flow in a room.

I don't want to always keep a guitar in a case, it should hang on a wall to be accessible and frequently played.
