Slate's Most Underrated Advantage - Still being able to drive a truck without looking like an overcompensating pavement princess.

I'm dead serious. It's probably the most attractive reason to get the Slate for me. We all know the stereotypes. Overcompensating dudes who drive giant trucks as a way to signal their super masculine, heterosexual conformity. I've been eyeing a new cars for a while, I wouldn't mind a truck. But everything on the market is catering towards those types of guys.

Seriously look at all the trucks on the market; Maverick, Tacoma, Ranger, F150, Ridgeline, Frontier, Rivian, etc. They're all built like tanks. They're giant, they're bulky, they're cumbersome. Cause they know they cast a wider net if they build all their trucks to give off big, tough guy energy.

I don't want to be associated with those guys. I'm not saying everyone who drives one of these trucks is an overcompensating man with an ego problem, but you can't deny that these trucks at least market to those types of guys.

And I'm glad I can buy a Slate, cause it's just a reasonable, normal vehicle with a bed I can throw my bike into and my shit ass furniture when my lease gets too expensive to renew. It's not trying to be a Testosterone supplement like every other truck is marketed as. It's just trying to be a good vehicle with utility purposes and I cannot underestimate how much I appreciate that.

Roommate's boyfriend now lives with us. Asked him to cover more utilities. Problem, they go back to his home for a few months and aren't here at all. What is fair in this situation?

Hello. I live in a 3 bedroom house with 2 roommates. 1 of them is my friend, 1 is a random guy who's lived here longer than all of us.

My friend met a foreign guy, and they hit it off, and since he's just on a tourist visa what they've been doing is they're been staying in my house for about 3 months at a time, going back to the boyfriend's country for about a month, then coming back and staying here for 3 months, etc.

I asked them what their plans are, they seem like they are in love, they have plans to move in together in the boyfriend's home country, but they want to rent this room indefinitely to be able to go back and forth. That's all fine. But they plan on staying here till the end of the year at least before going back.

Problem is we're still splitting utilities 3 ways even tho his boyfriend's been here for a good majority of a year. I asked them to split it 25% a person, and they did say yes, but they mentioned that they haven't been here at all for 3 months out of the year so they feel like it's unfair, but they agreed anyway.

And I won't lie, that is a significant amount of time, and it probably does offset the utility differential when he wasn't living here. So I do feel kinda like a dickhead being a stickler on utilities.

I don't want to be taken advantage of, but I also think I overestimated how much extra it really costed me in total throughout the year when I sat down and kinda thought 'oh yeah I guess half the people who live here aren't even here 25% of the year'. What do you guys think is fair?

3 YoE doing Vehicle Inspections for a car auction. Would Claims Adjusting be an attainable pivot?

Hello. I'm 28, college dropout, who inspects cars for a living for a car auction. It's wholesale, not retail so I primarily work with dealers not customers. My job is finding cosmetic and structural damages to cars, and identify mechanical/powertrain issues, then document my findings into condition reports. I'm in NYC, so I'd be going for the NY Independent Adjusters 17-70 exam.

Despite being a drop out, I think I'm capable about learning and retaining new information pretty well. The insurance side of everything is brand new, but I've seen AdjusterPro and Kaplan recommended quite a lot. I've heard the NY adjuster's exam is pretty hard, so I wanna give myself till the end of the year to finish the course + pass the exam. Then I'd apply for jobs, I've seen Auto Trainee recommended a lot which I think would be relevant to my experience.

I'm obviously worried that not having a college degree will be a determent to my chances. But I'm hoping that having automotive industry experience can count for something, and I hope to get the license before applying. Would anyone in the industry please tell me if they think my experience is relevant and if it would help me get my foot in the door?

Free Grindr shows me like 3 people then pushes Xtra lol we used to have a country man

I haven't used Grindr since when I was early college 2016-18. I went to small lib arts school in Indiana, sleepy, but Grindr was active. Even outside of college kids there was plenty of activity. You'd see 50-100 profiles, you'd get plenty of messages if you just had an actual picture, it was an actually usable app.

Tried using it again recently. Maybe it's cause I'm in Bensonhurst and this definitely ain't a gayborhood but it's literally 3 people, a single row, then pushing Xtra. When I'm in Williamsburg I'll graciously given 9 people's profiles before getting Xtra pushed onto me.

Almost all the profiles are blank, and since Grindr is location dependent, it's the same guys every time so if you don't like the first 3-9 then well too bad. And I'm getting like one message a day? I'm not a super model, but like, I don't think people have gotten less horny, or their standards have gotten so crazy high that no one wants to have a quick fun time with me. They're probably also going through the same issues I am, seeing no one, but being expected to pay $30 or something to see more blank profiles I guess?

Idk the point of this post. Grindr sucks >:(

Shouldn't insurance on the Slate be cheaper since all the panels are plastic rather than steel/aluminum?

Hello. I'm really interested in the Slate, I'm going to be in the market this time next year which seems to align with the expected window if I pre-order now.

My only concern is insurance, as I'm in NYC. I know no one will know what rates will be, but shouldn't fender benders and minor accidents be cheaper on a Slate Truck due to the panels being plastic, thus making overall insurance cheaper?

I don't understand insurance very well.

Best Burger and Cocktail, somewhere in BK along the D or R/N trains, under $50?

Hello. I live in Bensonhurst, right along the D, I kinda just want to take myself somewhere and get a good burger and a good cocktail.

I like my classic BBQ Bacon Burgers, but I'm willing to be adventurous with my ground beef between bread. I'll do spicy, I'll do fusion, I'll do anything. I just want it to be good.

Any recs? I really don't travel for food, I only know stuff by me.

Service manager on the side told me he could get me a new engine under the 150k extended warranty on my 14 Kia. What is he talking about?

Hello, I work in wholesale and I was at a Kia dealer today, my battery finally went so I figured bring it into service since i was there. While I was doing my own work the service manager approached me off to the side told me 'hey, I can get you a new engine. I have friends who can pull a code for you that would qualify for engine replacement. Lil bit of cash, can get it replaced by kia'.

I have 148k on the dash giving me 2k miles left in the window. I believe (can't remember didn't right it down) he said PI2002. Google is telling me this is a Knock Sensor detector and basically puts my car in limp mode.

Obvious, sketch as fuck, but a brand new engine covered under warranty is very enticing. I love my 14 soul, I don't want to buy a new car anytime soon but a its getting old. Would it be reasonable to hear this guy out and see what his side hustle can do for me?

South Brooklyn sucks to be trans in

Just a vent. I live in Bensonhurst, the D isn't running manhattan bound every weekend for the rest of july. I hate being stuck down here.

I feel like I'm the only trans person in the entire neighborhood. I feel like I get stared down by people and I never know if it's 'is that a boy or a girl' stare or a 'oh no a tr*nny in the neighborhood' kinda stare.

Dating apps suck down here, it's all closeted DL immigrant men who are like 'no I don't show face I can't have my family find out' like I would even know who tf you are.

I went to get a PrEP prescritpion filled for the first time. Used a Russian pharmacy at the end of my block. I go in, the technician was super friendly to me she's smiling, I tell them I'm here to pick up, I hear her and the actual pharmacist talk to each other in Russian, the pharmacist's demeanor immediately changes. She's no longer friendly, she's not smiling anymore, I get asked why I used their pharmacy for this and I had to explain it's just cause they're literally 2 doors down from me and they seemed bothered by the whole thing. Like 'oh great I gave the queer his aids medication'.

I had two italian men come to our door asking for a previous guy who lived here. They were from some italian heritage society of Bensonhurst. I tell them I'm italian on both sides of my family, what's this society about. They look at me, look at each other, and start shaking their heads and say 'no no we aren't open to members'. As if. As if the italian society of bensonhurst isn't dying and doesn't want membership. They were literally at my door hoping to get this guy to like donate or pay dues or whatever. I can't help but feel like they saw me and were like 'oh a tr*nny eww no'.

Maybe it's all in my head. Maybe I'm hallucinating these perceived micro aggressions cause I'm an overtly sensitive insane trans person. But I hate living here, and I feel stuck here, and I see so many of my trans friends having cool times in Bushwick and Ridgewood being surrounded by other trans girls and I wish I could afford to move there but I can't. So I'm stuck in this shit ass part of town where I feel like I'm a neighborhood character when I don't want to be.

Creative, unique, delicious, easy to get a table, but affordable. Budget of $200 for 2 people. Is this possible?

I'm not a foodie by any stretch, I'm against fine dining just cause I view food as a calorie/$ ratio. But my brother is coming into town and he's excited to try some cool NYC dining. The fanciest place I've been to since becoming independent was Balthazar in Soho and it was great! But I only went cause I wanted to try escargot! That's my one and only fine dining experience in my entire adult life so I'm really out of my element on this.

My brother is coming in from LA, he lives in Korea Town so I'm trying to stay away from Asian food in particular. He's a foodie, but claims he doesn't like the Instagram stuff, he likes either really well done food or stuff you can't get anywhere but that restaurant. I'm assuming this means either like really nice cuts of meat/fish, or like really creative takes and spins on traditional stuff.

Sorry if I'm being very vauge, I really don't know where to start. You google this stuff get paid promo stuff that I'm pretty sure is just marketing and then dead reddit threads from years ago.

I would prefer Manhattan south of 60th just cause I live way south in Bensonhurst, it's easier to get to and I think he'd like being in the city, but I'm willing to stay in Brooklyn. Thank you!
