Linux Support Inquiry

Hi LDPlayer team, I’m a Linux user and have been interested in using LDPlayer on Linux, particularly for Android gaming. I wanted to ask whether there are any plans or considerations for officially supporting Linux in the future. I’d also be interested in understanding what the main hurdles are from LDPlayer’s perspective. For example, is Linux support currently limited by:

  • Technical challenges, such as graphics/driver compatibility, virtualization, kernel integration, or maintaining performance across Linux distributions?
  • Official restrictions or requirements from game publishers/platforms?
  • Licensing, third-party dependencies, or other business considerations?
  • Or is it primarily a product-priority/resource decision?

I’m not asking for any proprietary or confidential information. Even a high-level explanation of what makes Linux support difficult would be very helpful. If there are specific technical or ecosystem barriers that would need to be addressed before LDPlayer could officially support Linux, I’d also appreciate any guidance you can share. Thanks for your time, and thanks for developing LDPlayer.

Subscription vs Lifetime

I want to know how users are behaving with app subscriptions, or whether they are complaining about them. I am confused. Especially when we devs ship apps, it always requires long-term maintenance. How can we offer lifetime support for a one-time payment? Or am I overthinking it?

More experienced in the Apple ecosystem, do share your experience, especially on maintenance! Do apps break when a new os version launches, and how tedious is it to update the apps?

Will people go through a painful one‑time setup if it meant their toddler could never delete your apps again?

My 3 year old got hold of my phone a few days ago and wiped every social and work app off it. I lost hours reinstalling, logging back in, and explaining to people why I vanished. The “oops” moment made me wonder if I could build something that makes app installs and uninstalls completely impossible without my fingerprint.

The idea is to use Android’s Device Owner mode. If an app is set as the device owner, it can genuinely block all installs and deletions at the system level. Not an overlay. Not a hack. A real restriction that even a smart teenager couldn't bypass. The only way to install or delete anything would be to open my app, authenticate with the device lock screen, and temporarily release the block. After that, it locks back down automatically.

I haven’t built this yet. I’m just trying to figure out if normal people would actually use it, because the setup is not user-friendly at all.

Here is what the one‑time setup looks like. You have to remove every Google account and other account from your phone first. Then you enable USB debugging in Developer Options. Then you plug the phone into a computer and run a single ADB command that makes the app the device owner. After that, you can re‑add your accounts and use the phone normally. The whole thing might take ten minutes if you know what you’re doing, but it’s definitely not “just install from the Play Store” simple.

I know that is a lot to ask. I also know that giving a random developer’s app full device owner control is a big trust decision.

I’m genuinely curious: would you go through that hassle for complete peace of mind? Is toddler‑proofing a phone worth the initial pain? Would knowing the app is fully offline and open source (if I go that route) change your answer?

I’m not selling anything. I’m just validating an idea before I write a line of code. Brutal honesty appreciated.

Web based brokerage app

As the title says, is there any web based brokerage app like finqalab but on web platform? If any, will I be able to tranfer my shares to it?
