Because Doc Brown never invented time travel, for many years he lived a normal life and eventually married and had a son.

One night that son fell in love with a woman named Sarah Connor. They married and had 3 kids, none of who were named John Connor.

Doctor Who watches the wedding in horror realizing there won't be a John Connor to stop Skynet. The Terminator watches on exited to realize there will be no John Connor to stop Skynet.

This was getting heavy.

"You broke the timeline, Mr Marty. The future including your very existence is in jeopardy now."

Marty paced back and forth inside the Tardis as Doctor Who thought about everything he just witnessed. "Normally I'm the one causing time shenanigans!"

"Wait, hold on! You’re not making any sense. What do you mean the timeline is broken? Doc is inside right now hanging a clock!"

The Doctor waved a whirring, blue-lit metal device over Marty’s head before tucking it into his coat pocket. "He’s hanging a clock because you arrived early! Do you have any idea what you’ve just done?"

"I was looking for Doc! He told me the whole story back in 1985! He slipped off the edge of his toilet while hanging a clock, hit his head on the porcelain, and had a vision of the flux capacitor! That's what makes time travel possible!"

"The actual truth is he never fell! I pushed him. It was a fixed point of brilliant inspiration! But because of you he just safely hung his clock, went downstairs, and decided to live a quiet, completely normal life. No flux capacitor. No DeLorean. No time travel."

"Whoa this is heavy."

"You keep saying that. Is there something wrong with the Earth's gravitational pull in your time?"

"Wait... you pushed him? Who are you? Where do you even come from?"

"I'm from everywhere and nowhere, forever and never."

"Mmmmmkay I'm just gonna ignore that... What do we do now?"

"Now," the Doctor said, snapping his sonic screwdriver back into his hand as it buzzed loudly, "we see how much damage has been done. I need to check how this rewritten timeline unfolds—and figure out what, or who, caused you to arrive earlier than you were supposed to."

"How do we figure all that out?"

Doctor Who smiles... "We're going to a wedding."

1. In aftermath after the Gorn stole the secret reactor core, stress amoung the crew runs high.

Captain Silas and Chief Engineer Eins are called to a meeting with Admiral Picard.

"I already had my doubts about this program and tried to stop it. But I trusted your crew to keep it safe. Why wasn't there security at the entrance door?"

Captain Silas says, "We're still not fully staffed but Starfleet has us doing missions. I need my few security officers ready for a mission at any given moment in--"

"You need to get it back. You and I both know the implications if you don't." Picard sighed. "I apologize for my tone. I have my hands full here as you can imagine... How's the rest of the command crew? They didn't know about the Experimental Core did they?"

Captain Silas glanced at Eins. "Not well. They feel Eins and I should have told them."

2. Meanwhile in Core Engineering Lab First Officer Lyssa Jesstain and Security Chief Darj survey the empty lab.

"Did you know about this?" Darj growls

Lyssa says "No. I didn't. And I'm the first officer! I just knew there was a lab down here that might do some testing but I didn't know what that meant."

"Why would the Captain keep this secret?" Darj shakes his head.

She sighs, "He must have been under orders not to."

3. Later the command crew meet in conference room. Tensions are high.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Lyssa asks.

"How can I keep us safe there are secrets aboard?" Darj barks.

Captain Silas nods. "I'm sorry for the deception. Eins and I were under strict orders not to reveal the drive until we were ready to start testing. It needed more uptime processing energy before it could be tested."

"So what is it?" She snapped.

4. Captain Silas activated the view screen. "It's known as a Temporal Bridge Core. Where as a standard warp core contains matter and antimatter, this contains Chronotons, Dark Matter, Calabi-Yau Manifold, M-Particles, and holds it together with Quantum Entanglement Fields."

"Is that something supposed to mean something?" Darj asks.

"Time Travel." She said.

5. Eins said "Not quite." They changed the view screen. "The reactor is a cross between a time traveling core and a cloaking device without quite violating treaties on both technologies. The core collapses temporal waves ahead in time and behind in time so that we're clocked in anti-time."

"Anti-time means the moment before we're in a location and a moment after we're gone both wash over us.... So technically at any moment we're not there to outside viewers."

"That's heavy," Darj says after a moment.

"We're worried the Gorn want to turn it into a time travel device." Silas says.

Lyssa says, "That doesn't really sound like the Gorn. They're more about brute force. Not stealth and experimental science."

Captain Silas considered this.

"That means there's someone else behind this. Either posing as Gorn or using them..... We've got to work to do. We have to find that ship and get to the bottom of this.... Let's make it sow."

Marty McFly arrives earlier to Doc Brown's house than he should have. He interrupts a strange scene where he finds Doc Brown standing on his toilet hanging a clock. A man is about to push him.

Marty bangs on the wall and the man runs for the back door. Outside he grabs Marty and says "I'm sure it's painfully obvious by now but I'm a time lord trying to protect your time line and you are screwing it up terribly! Come with me if you want to live!"

Marty lets the strange man pull him into a blue phone booth which disappears.

Still standing on the toilet. Doc Brown shouts Great Scott!
