Milton Keynes Selected for New UK Robotics Hub — Bringing More Delivery Robots, Autonomous Vehicles and Drones to the City

One of the more interesting hubs will operate in Milton Keynes, a city already known for deploying autonomous delivery robots and experimenting with new mobility technologies.

Led by Smart City MK CIC, the Milton Keynes Robotics Adoption Hub will operate from the Smart City Experience Centre inside centre, a major shopping destination. Its partners include Milton Keynes City Council, Cranfield University, The Open University, Ohmio UK and several other organizations.

Unlike hubs concentrating on manufacturing or agriculture, Milton Keynes will focus on robotics operating in public and shared spaces. That includes autonomous vehicles, delivery robots, drones and other systems that must interact with people, infrastructure and existing transportation networks.

The initiative builds on the city's work developing ROBOPASS, a licensing framework intended to strengthen governance around robotic deployments.

7,000 Humanoids vs. 117,500 Logistics Robots: The Robot Revolution Looks Different Than the Hype

If you want to understand where service robotics is becoming a business, start with 117,500.

That is the number of professional service robots reported by the International Federation of Robotics for transportation and logistics applications in 2025. It represented 47% of professional service robot shipments in the IFR survey and was up 21% from the previous year. Another number in the report is getting plenty of attention: about 7,000 full-size humanoids.

The contrast offers a useful snapshot of today's robotics market. Humanoids are emerging as a new commercial category, but much of the current scale in service robotics is coming from machines built around specific jobs with identifiable customers and economics.

Y'all we about to get some School Board drama - Towanna ain't happy

Her Facebook is wild, but here is the full rant:

>I am about to express an opinion that may not align with the views of my fellow board members. Regrettably, half of the board members harbor animosity towards me due to my stance on specific issues.

>The public has been clamoring for transparency, and it is hypocritical to claim transparency while withholding the truth. I am tired of shouldering the blame for the board's actions while they stand idly by, only to later demand unity. How can I be expected to be unified when my colleagues fail to act with integrity despite overwhelming evidence?

>I strongly disagree with the state's takeover, deeming it unconstitutional, as it nullifies the voters' rights and disenfranchises our constituents. If the board managers were genuinely interested in offering guidance, rather than usurping our authority as elected officials, my stance might differ. However, this situation revolves around control, power, and financial gain, rather than the well-being of our children.

>The board's current predicament is a direct result of its own actions, stemming from the dismissal of Marie Feagins, I wanted the community to have a clear picture of what was really happening. Although I concurred that Feagins should be removed, I advocated for a more measured approach. The chair disregarded my motion to suspend pending investigation and instead proceeded with a course of action that ultimately proved detrimental. Otis L. Sanford presented a copy of my suspension, but the authorship remains unclear.

>Every decision I have proposed has been overturned by the chair, Natalie, who consistently undermines the board's decisions, leading to poor outcomes. She often speaks as if she is the superintendent, which is not the case. I will not continue to tolerate this situation without speaking out. I refuse to be unified if my colleagues cannot make informed decisions based on evidence.

>Due to this board, I have made significant personal sacrifices, and I felt compelled to express my frustrations to ensure my well-being and ability to make sound decisions for our children.

>Regarding the recent decision on IDA B. Wells, I specifically recommended against its closure due to its historical significance. Despite being outvoted, I was allegedly informed that the school would remain open. Notably, I only became aware of this development yesterday. As an elected official, my duty is to make decisions, regardless of their popularity. https://www.facebook.com/towanna.murphyratliff/posts/pfbid0VL5LbJoMY3VzE5keFFkZLDqkGo6KjCuZ4aoXYKBR9Cu23SbZTMTtHG7ggeY75embl

Majority of New Tennessee Vouchers Awarded to Higher-Income Families

A program pitched to lawmakers as a lifeline for Tennessee's lowest-income students is, so far, doing something else. Only a quarter of newly awarded Education Freedom Scholarship vouchers went to families in the lowest income tier — while nearly 9,400 went to households earning up to $173,160. For Memphis families weighing the program, the new numbers complicate the pitch.

FedEx's MD11 Fleet Returns To The Skies

FedEx's MD-11 fleet is back in revenue service. First flights were Sunday — FX985 Memphis to Miami, and FX980 into Los Angeles. The return follows about six months of work between FedEx, Boeing, and the FAA after the fleet was grounded.

Haven't seen anything in the local press, but this is an amazing story of how a crack team at FedEx got to work to get the MD-11 back in the air after the UPS MD11 Crash in Louisville. Read it here: https://www.freightwaves.com/news/fedexs-md-11-comeback-to-start-with-short-cargo-flight-to-miami

Multiple TN Democrats stripped of all committee assignments

Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) also posted on social media, saying that he and others were also removed from their committees.

“Speaker of the TN House Cameron Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on," he wrote on X. “This move strips nearly 2 million Tennesseans from the representation they deserve in TN state leg.”

Memphis’ other Democratic Representative, Gabby Salinas, posted the letter she received. With it, she wrote a single message: “I would do it again.” In a video posted moments later with the same message, she said she served on the judiciary and state and local committees, as well as the public service and criminal justice subcommittees.

“This is a result of the actions that we took on the [House] floor last week,” she said. “It is interesting that disenfranchising an entire district here in Shelby County carries zero consequences ... but speaking out, using your voice, and representing interest of the people of Tennessee is something that they deemed punishable.”
