Whats the timelime for a hit and run case report?

Recently got into a minor accident, other party has insurance, but refuse to pay or make police report.

So i made an individual police report on him (same day, with dashcam of whole incident). My intention is to claim his insurance since the accident was his fault (no brake and rear ended me). So i dont want to lose my NCD.

Im not in a rush, i have approx 1 month in KL, before going back to kelantan. But the officer didnt give me an estimated timeline, and she got pissed when i asked for clarification 10 days later cuz its my first time and idk how long these things take.

Repurposing old fountain pond

So we have this old decorative fountain pond that we stopped using because its a burden to maintain and expensive too. The motors and pumps are still intact and probably usable (albeit likely clogged from years of disuse). So instead, I had the thought of repurposing it into a large garden bed, which is easier to maintain since we already have a self sustaining garden anyways.

The issue is - I would prefer not to permanently change the pond, just in case in the future we changed our mind and wanted to get the pond back, then we could just dig out the soil and fix the pumps.

So what i want to achieve is basically:

  1. Preserve the underlying pump/filter so that it can be reverted back into a fountain pond in the future again. (The motors are in a separate section)

  2. Drainage - So it wont end up as a muddy pile or a dengue proliferation site (dengue is endemic here)

  3. Not further damage the concrete architecture of the pond.

  4. Pockets: There are some parts of the pond that has a "roof" above it, i would prefer to block those areas off and leave it empty / unfilled with soil, since i cant plant there anyway.

  5. Flooding: Tropical weather, heavy rains, i dont want it to flood the garden bed.

My initial plans were as follows:

Plan A: Cordon off the pockets/roofed parts of the pond with planks, layer the whole area with some sort of waterproof or plastic lining / tarp, fill in with Sand, Cocopeat and then normal black soil mixed with cocopeat.

* My concern here is drainage, im worried water will pool at the bottom and turn the whole thing in to a dengue cesspool

Plan B: Again, cordon off the pockets / roofed parts of the pond, layer with a lining/tarp, then fill in with sand/decorative stone. But this time instead of filling in with soil and planting directly, i plan to put plant pots on top of the setup instead.

* Again the concern is drainage when it rains the water has nowhere to go.

Is this a palm? Was referred here by r/plantid

Location: Malaysia / Selangor

I think it used to be a potted plant and then neglected and thrown out to the depths of the mango trees.

What type of palm is it? and is it worth the time and effort to relocate it?

If i do want to relocate and rehabilitate it, how do i do so? Does it need to be potted or open area? And btw I have coconut trees growing - which is more worth in terms of aesthetic and production value?

Bougainvillea Rescue

This very neglected bougainvillea used to be thriving (10-12 years back in my childhood) with flowers and now its scavenging beneath a mango tree

Lighting: The mango shades the whole top of the plant, but light still comes from the sides, since its open outdoors.

Watering: None - In Malaysia, Tropical climate, heavy rains followed by sudden heatwaves and repeat.

Soil: Seems like clay/Topsoil. Very hard, likely depleted of nutrients. Mango/neem leaves occasionally drop into its pot

Its a legit neglected plant so its been literally sitting under that mango tree for 6-8 years now

I read that they can live for up to 40-50 years. Now its probably 12-15 years, I want to repot and rehabilitate it. Tips?

  1. Can i still leave it underneath the shady mango tree? (Many leaves also drop into its pot) Or do i relocate? If so where?

  2. If if repot it, does normal black soil suffice?

  3. When repotting, do i need to trim roots or soak or wash its roots? Current soil is like clay topsoil, almost stonelike.

  4. After rehabilitation, can it still grow back flowers and produce seeds for replanting?

  5. I would like to rehab it as a smaller bush, since neighbours dont like bushes that sprawl onto the road. Thats probably why it was first cut down by my father years back.

Multiple Plant ID's - Malaysia

Location: Selangor Malaysia

First image is sandy/black soil mix, recently dids some construction that wiped out my previous sweet-potato project.

Other images are all clay/topsoil

2nd, 3rd, and 5th image are intentionally planted by my family a long time ago, but they dont rmb what plants they are.

1st and 4th image are plants that i have actively been decapitating for quite a long time and they are not dying - So might as well check if they are useful plants or really just weeds.

Plant ID: What plant is this? (Read Caption)

Region: Southeast Asia / Malaysia

Sandy black soil

Did not intentionally plant this. Scattered throughout this particular section of my garden. Quite easy to pull out, but the roots broke as you can see. It grows at an insane speed - like probably 10cm per week

I plan only to grow edible plants or plants with medicinal or aesthetic value (succulents). This plant in particular is in my sweetpotato plot, so i wanna know if i should rid it.

This plot is open air and tend to have a lot of weed/grass seeds scattered by birds.

Btw if yall can advise at-home tips on controlling low lying weeds in a potato/carrot plot, would love those ideas, cuz my root veggies are always getting smothered by grass.

What to do with extra canon printheads? Recoverable?

Context, I have several canon G-series (G2000, G2010, G3000 and G3010) printers.

One printer couldnt Print black but didnt have any error message - I switched out the Black BH-7 printhead. I assume its a nozzle issue rather than the electronic contactz

Another printer had Error Code 1471, both printheads BK/C couldnt be recognized, so i switched them out too. I think this was an issue with the electronic contacts

Now i have 2 BH7 black printheads and 1 CH7 colour printheads. Ive tried cleaning with alcohol, bother the nozzle and the electronic contact strip, doesnt work. Is there perhaps any way i can salvage the printheads, So I can keep these as spares?

Any advice on how to remove that screw so i can put it in the correct direction.

Horn preservation (Including the inner horn)

1st image is my horn, which im trying to preserve both the outer horn shell and the inner organic horn (cornual process).

2nd Image is the horn my friend did, they just let the inside of the horn rot and kept the outside of the hoen.

I would preferrably like to keep the entire horn intact without separating or rotting the inside of the horn. Right now what i have done is scrubbed the horn of its hairs, filled it with dishwashing soap to macerate some of the softer tissues, then packed it in salt to dry. After drying in salt for 1 month, I decided to let my intrusive thoughts gst the better of me and i pilled out the horn and injected 75% isopropyl hand sanitizer into the inner horn cavity. After i put it a solid 100ml of sanitizer, I realized it was probably not a good idea cuz god knows how much damage that 25% of moisture/additives can do to my progress. So i am attempting to rectify the situation by adding more salt and sun-baking it.

Are there are any other home-methods i can try to preserve the whole horn. Is it viable to seal the horn cavity with glue/sealant after the salting process?

I do have around 250ml of 99% isopropyl alcohol but idk if its enough to submerge it.

Galaxy S9 Repair Help (Update + More help needed)

If you recall my post from a few days earlier - TLDR Im fixing my old S9 which i stopped using 2 years ago after it couldnt charge anymore. I found it with a swollen battery. Redditors told me to change the battery. I did - The phone itself can still start up fine and shows at 80% Battery charge, but it still cannot charge as per the original issye 2 years ago. Motherboard? Charging port issue? Definitely not a battery issue now.

S9 Self Repair Help (Battery? Motherboard?)

Hi, So basically this S9 was my old phone from 2019 till 2024. The last time I used it, it couldnt charge anymore, so i watched the battery drain till 0%, unable to charge. The repair shop told me it was a motherboard problem - But it has always bugged me because if it was a motherboard problem why was i still able to use it but not charge. But im no technician after all.

Today, since i just had the phone lyjng around, I just decided to post mortem it and found a swollen battery (maybe from long time disuse?). But at the same time would like to ask the advice of this sub whether it can still be saved or its a really a motherboard issue?

As for the swelling battery, Im just quarantining it in case it decides to explode.

▲ 3 r/Garlic

I bought some discount peeled garlic (im not american, but converted to around $0.40) in a bag which expires tommorow. It doesnt look particularly off, but just smells like old garlic. Just to be safe i doused it in an unholy amount of salt and steeped in some vinegar - no added water. Not really the best "pickling", i know.

But i realise I dont really like "pickled" stuff, so Im thinking of mincing and then frying this "pickled" garlic to make some garlic crisps and garlic oil.

Would this be a good idea?

I know the concerns of storing garlic oil is botulism, but my pickling solution in this case doesnt have water, just vinegar and salt - so that would technically mean my resulting garlic oil and crisps would be more safer that the traditional method right? due to the salinity and acidity. Or is it more riskier?
