I never thought I'd have to fight this hard over a phone case.

In December 2025, I ordered a case for my Samsung S24 Ultra from Amazon. The listing itself looked a bit sketchy, but I decided to take the chance.

Big mistake.

What arrived wasn't even close to what was advertised. I immediately requested a return, which Amazon approved. They instructed me to ship the item back myself, so I did exactly that through India Post on 4 December 2025.

On 9 December 2025, India Post confirmed that the parcel had been delivered to the exact address Amazon had provided.

I thought that would be the end of it.

Instead, it became the start of a 7+ month battle.

Every time I contacted Amazon, I was told the same thing:

I sent them my India Post receipt. I sent them the delivery confirmation message. I explained that the parcel had been delivered months ago.

None of it mattered.

On one of the final calls, I was told they couldn't process my refund because I didn't have enough documents. The representative even said that the India Post receipt I had was "generic" and that I didn't have a physical proof of delivery, so they couldn't verify my claim.

That was honestly the most frustrating part.

How was I supposed to produce a physical delivery slip when Amazon themselves had asked me to ship the parcel through India Post, and India Post had already confirmed the delivery?

To make matters worse, they also wanted the consignment tracking again. By then, several months had passed, and India Post no longer retained the tracking details online. Tracking information isn't stored forever. If Amazon wanted to verify it through the tracking portal, they should have done so when the package was actually delivered not months later.

Fortunately, I had kept two things:

• The original India Post receipt.
• The official delivery confirmation SMS.

After months of getting nowhere, I drafted a formal legal notice explaining the entire situation and informed Amazon that if they continued denying the refund despite the evidence, I would file a case before the Consumer Commission.

I attached every piece of evidence I had.

Within 24 hrs after that...

I got a phone call stating they were sorry and my refund was approved.

The money is now in my Amazon Pay wallet.

I'm relieved the issue is finally over, but it never should have taken legal action over a return that had already been delivered.

Lesson learned: Never throw away your shipping receipt. Keep screenshots, SMSs, emails everything. If a company tells you your evidence isn't enough, don't assume that's the end of the road. If you have the facts and the documentation, escalate the matter and stand your ground.
