So we had to turn off the water to a known meth den due to non payment the other day and woke up this morning to 2 different water lines cut over night. Lost 1/3d of the tank which is perfect timing since 4th of july has a good chance for a fire. They're cutting the lines on the customer side at the meter with a sawsall and our system is so naff we have to go looking for it. So far the cops aren't doing jack shit as usual.

Frustrating. i'm working the weekend and normally we get full by 1-2 in the afternoon since we pull water from a creek that's super clean this time of year (different story in the winter). So i'll probably be on and miss 4th stuff. We've got fences and cameras at the plant but It wouldn't surprise me if they fuck with the plant itself.

I wish they'd dirt nap each other to be honest. GRRRR

edit: you wastewater folk are probably mostly immune to this since even a meth head doesn't want to sawsall a live sewer line I'd guess ;)

So my mom probably shouldn't be driving but she refuses to admit it. Anyway I was wondering about fellow Gen X who are dealing with parents who are getting up there. Like my mom went on a 13 mile trip today and didn't show up for an hour and her friend was freaking out worried etc. I need to track her phone or car and fuck there are so many options. Any ones that you like for android that are free or super cheap? I'm thinking find my phone or something like that. Just so I can check in on where she is and make sure she didn't drive to Mexico by accident. I'd rather take advice from you all rather than AI generated search results

I'm at work and I use google text to speech to read epubs to me while doing my job at a fresh water plant. Although I love a good audio book I'm always using audio clues for alerts on the water system and such so I love how the old school google TTS British number 4 reads books since it's always the same volume. So I can keep it with the voice and still pay attention to the job (which is freaking boring thus the need for books)

So i've nailed the text to speach settings I like but FFS when i'm at work I can't keep track of multiple characters easily or complex politics but at the same time I got tired of Litrpg where there are like pages of stats and though i like a lot of them I've got the same problem with progression fantasy with all the dantion and yada yada

I love the complex fictions when i'm not on the job but when i'm working I just want some hobbits killing a goblin or some fun books that don't require a lot of brain CPU but are well written

any ideas ?
