I was going to buy some extension cables and stumbled upon the TVs playing Avantgardey's music video with my 3D models (the whole city) on the background. Super random, but extremely happy to see them being used in such a high profile environment (I sell them in 3D marketplaces).
Just ask it to use kaomojis and suddenly it's much easier to tell what's going on.
Xcode will happily ship a translation that dropped its %@, a Russian plural missing three of its four forms, and a Text("Get Pro") no catalog has ever heard of. Nothing fails a build over any of it.
So I built a CLI tool (with a little help from Fable) for .xcstrings files. This was a little handwritten tool i've used by myself for a long time, but decided to brush it up a little bit before putting it out for public.
It checks for missing localization keys, hardcoded strings, common localization errors, comes with an mcp server and some handy example hooks you can plug into Claude. You can also instruct claude to automatically to translate or add to the catalog any untranslated strings the tool finds.
I ran it over nine open-source apps to actually see if it can find some common issues - 8,077 keys, 70 locales, 6,373 Swift files. In addition to missing keys and translations, here's sample of what it found:
- Mastodon’s Albanian for "Option %ld" is "%ld nga %ld" - reads a second argument the call never passes
- IceCubesApp changed an English string to "%lld posts"; the Belarusian still reads "%lld people talking", state translated
- Whisky renders one “Remove” button as German Löschen (delete) and another as Entfernen (could be intentional, but always good to check)
- Whisky also ships the literal string "N/A" as the Czech, French and Romanian translation of a key
- DuckDuckGo declares NSLocalNetworkUsageDescription in Info.plist and localizes it nowhere, so that permission prompt is English for every non-English user
Plus the boring parts: coverage per language, CLDR plural categories, .xcloc validation before import, SARIF output for CI, and a baseline file so you can switch it on for a project that already has 300 findings.
No dependencies. swift build is the whole install.

Also I have not released a CLI tool before for a mac so honestly no idea about what people expect haha, maybe a brew install?
This is a common comment I see here, but literally every time I go to a bar or talk to my friends, at least half of their friends work in companies I would classify as black. Yet literally every thread about black companies, there's a swarm of people saying they are a thing of the past.
Is this sweetening sentiment something many people here say because of their own experiences (Western companies or smaller startups), because they try to lie to themselves, they try to sweeten the image of Japan, or am I completely wrong here?
Admittedly, it's also anecdotal evidence, but from my experience with talking to people from many walks of life, while obviously it's less than before, there's still a shit ton of black companies that discriminate against their workers and do not pay good salaries. Or is this something non-Japanese speakers say because they literally can't discuss it with Japanese people and don't know the reality?
Edit: I'm talking about salary, working hours, working conditions and rude/hostile bosses here. Not low salary etc.

I chose to get 特別ワンタン麺 with 白だし and some extra chashu toppings. The soup was good and I’d rate it 4/5, but the toppings and noodles were top-notch. I waited maybe 10 minutes to get it, with no queue. Would go again.
I'm looking at buying this car through Toyota in japan, which sells used cars as inspected and maintained. So in that sense I'm fairly confident about the condition being good.
Anything I'd have to be careful of or considering regarding my this car. It'd be the hybrid model and used mostly for daily life + some ski trips every now and them.
Well not just for onsen but also for any kind of spa/bathing activity. It used the watch's temperature/hr sensors to track your baths/saunas etc.
It automatically detects when youre bathing, what's the water temperature and stores it for the whole session.

Ok so i have a problem with lumen foliage. And trust me, i have read every single thread and tried everything. Hardware raytracing is on, console commands tried, indirect lighting maxed (looks ugly + still some dark parts), lower hemisphere is not black and so on.
As you can see on the image, the undersides of the foliage are extremely dark compared to anything else in the scene. No matter what I change, they stay almost pitch black and nothing helps. I've tried both subsurface leaf materials as well as two sided foliage. No matter what i change in post processing helps. Changing distance field lighting on and off does nothing, as neither does nanite cards (i've tried both on and off).
The leaves are masked billboards if that helps, changing opacity just changes how bright they are.
Btw the tree in the middle of the road is a static mesh, not made with a foliage tool like anything else. The building is there just for a reference.
