Is this cotton ok for weaving?

I'm just starting out and getting some supplies to get me going.

There are very few weaving specific yarns available in my country, so I have been looking for alternatives.

This mercerised cotton knitting yarn is 2ply and and weight-wise converts to approximately the same as 8/2 mercerised cotton. (6,666 m/kg compared to 6,775 m/kg).

I've heard the 8/2 mercerised cotton is a great starting point for learning, but I'm unsure if I've messed up the conversion and this won't actually be suitable.

This was listed under knitting yarn, but seems to check the boxes for weaving to a comlete newbie trying to figure out how this works.

Any thoughts/advice?

Customer support staff claiming refund error to try and get me to accept gift card refund?

I have an order that's currently 3 months late, so I reached out to customer support to request a refund.

The first person I talked to said there was a "refund error" and would I accept gift cards instead?

I said no, I'd like a refund on the original payment method. The person suddenly changed their tune and said the refund will work fine it will just take 3 days to process.

5 days later no refund, I contact them again to follow up.

The previous person never put in a refund request beyond the first attempt that the up the error.

New person says would I like the refund in gift cards?

I say no, original payment method please.

The person says they'll need to contact the seller to request a refund and that I'll get an email confirmation of the request, and should get a follow up email in the next 48 hrs.

They also say if the seller doesn't respond they'll proceed with the refund in gift vouchers.

I have received no confirmation email of the refund request.

I feel like I'm being given the run around and trying to be strong armed into keeping my money with amazon instead of just issuing me a refund.

Has anyone had customer support staff lie about the refund process and errors to get you to accept gift cards instead?

Any actually good lip balms left out there?

Petroleum based lip balms (vaseline, nivea, most common brands) dry the shit out of my lips.

Spent the last few years buying the ethique brand lip balms but they've recently been discontinued. They're the only ones I've been able to find that don't sap the moisture out of my lips and leave them cracked after a few hrs.

I recently tried Burts Bees brand lip balm to avoid the petroleum base for a beeswax one, but alas my lips are bleeding and peeling after just a couple days.

Anyone who's used the ethique brand lip balms found a good alternative? Or just someone with a recommendation for a brand that works for them?

I think the ethique ones were butter based (shea, cocoa, coconut, etc) rather than petroleum jelly, parrafin wax or beeswax, but idk much more beyond that.

Gifts for a 3 and 6 year old that can keep them occupied/busy and take some strain off their parents?

We've got some family friends with a couple young kids, and currently the parents are going through the wringer with other life stuff.

We're hours and hours away, so can't be there ourselves, but we want to send a little care package with some goodies to keep the tots busy and engaged without making more work for them (so not something that gets super messy or requires lots of setting up/packing down).

Any ideas for the types of things a 3 and 6 year old might enjoy?

We're currently thinking some basic puzzles, etch a sketch, duplo, that sort of thing. But wondering if some of y'all may have a better idea!

1st or 3rd person relaxing/chill games that won't bore me to death?

I need to cut down on how much energy I'm sinking into gaming and start finding more relaxing games to play with minimal stress and time pressure.

However I get bored really easily.

Any good games that are chill, don't have a big learning curve or massive amounts of inventory management, but are interesting enough to keep you engaged?

I've found Raft is a good chill game that is still quite interesting and engaging, and Dredge is pretty good too.

Hardspace Shipbreaker is a wonderful game but the game loop is a bit too repetitive and I end up getting bored before finishing the story.

Any ideas? Not a big fan of pixel graphics or 2d games.

I hate Reddits new UI

They've already removed r / all from the home page, and made the new and popular tabs no longer one swipe away from the home screen.

Now they're tiktok-ifying the videos to be endless scrolling?

I don't need another insta reels or YouTube shorts or tiktok or Facebook.

Bonus hate, I hate how they changed the swipe directions so you can't swipe up to reach the comments anymore and double tap zoom in is all fucked up.

I would love if we got a massively scaled back sequel set in the aftermath of the Reaper war

Given that destroy seems to be the ending that's being run with for the sequel, I think it'd be super cool to have the next title be set in the few years after the Reaper war, with interstellar travel severely limited by the damage to the relays.

I'm imagining a big time sink into travel that can translate into tangible consequences for where you choose to go next, because it will be weeks or months before you'll get there. So you have to carefully choose where you go, or more importantly where you don't go, and what the consequence of your absence might be.

News travels slower, looting and local conflicts are rampant without support being able to intervene in piracy and the like.

And a completely fresh character, maybe having the plot focused on repairing the mass relays and restoring travel capabilities to the galaxy.

Our OG crew could maybe be heard about on newscasts from the other side of the galaxy, maybe one or two could be met to consult on for the relay repairs like Tali for her experience with Geth tech and it's similarity to reaper tech and the mass relays. Maybe using some of the reaper corpses as parts for relay repairs and exploring the risks that come with that.

I think it'd be really awesome to have a fresh start without this massive powerhouse protagonist who has saved the galaxy, and instead just be someone with specific expertise that makes them a meaningful part of the restoration effort post war but still just a person. Or even an inter-system courier who gets embroiled in local conflicts as they bring repair supplies to the mass relays over months of travel.

I don't want a new, bigger, badder, more dangerous threat. I want to get back down to the inter-personal aspects, change peoples minds because they believe what I'm saying not just because commander Shepard said so.

Bonus points for a non-human origin option like quarian or turian.

Just my own thoughts and ramblings. I have utterly loved the Shepard era, but I hope it ends and the stakes can come back down to the interpersonal.

Survival games that are chill and not super complex?

I love open world survival craft as a genre (Green Hell, The Forest, Raft, The Long Dark, Survival: Fountain of Youth, Icarus, Valheim, etc).

I am, however, getting overwhelmed by the complexity of some of the building systems.

Are there any survival craft games like Raft that are chill, don't have millions of different ingredients, and have an easy to navigate UI where you don't have to constantly memorise components and build materials?

I have a condition that makes extended concentration hard to maintain, so I want to find some games I can play without crashing myself out.

Pretty much all the other survival games I listed above are too complex or adrenaline inducing, except for Raft.

Any ideas?

How easy is this software to use for someone with minimal computer skills?

Love the idea of local co-op gaming, want to get it, but I'm pretty easily overwhelmed by computer stuff beyond plug and play.

How easy is this software to navigate? Does it require much by way of troubleshooting for each game, or is it pretty straightforward?

Best etiquette for potentially stray neighbourhood cats?

We've got some cats that roam around our place, one has no collar and pretty mangey fur that's bald in places.

Can't tell if it's spayed and haven't yet got close enough to identify the sex, but it's been pissing and yowling all around our place to the point it's stressing out our indoor cat.

Is this a situation for animal control, a local charity, or something else? It could be someone's pet that just looks a bit grubby, or it could be a stray that is unfixed and marking.

We don't really have the resources to trap and take it in ourselves, so just wondering if calling it in is a good idea or not.

Best cheap(ish) purchases that made your day to day easier?

I've been trying to make our home life a little easier with some purchases of less than $100 the last couple months.

We've got an air fryer which has been great, a pet auto feeder, robovac and a few other bits and bobs.

Trying to figure out if there are any small appliance or general home goods purchases that have made a big difference to your day to day.

My partner and I are both disabled so any extra energy we can save on cooking, cleaning, etc is a massive difference.

Along with electrical items we've also been trying to better manage our storage and waste, so we've got things like a countertop food scraps bin, a couple washing hampers, and a step stool for reaching high cabinets, etc.

Any purchases under 100 bucks you've made that have had a measured impact on making your daily life a little easier/smoother?

I fucking hate "now a major motion picture" fake stickers on books

I cannot for the life of me understand why a perfectly good book cover is utterly desecrated by an unremovable "sticker" printed on telling me how this book is also a movie.

I have never come across a book with this unfun fact emblazoned on the front where I *don't already know it's a fucking movie*.

At least make it removable for gods sake.

Bonus hate points if the actually cool book cover is instead replaced with a shitty movie poster. Double bonus points if its the only book in the series with a movie poster cover and the rest have normal fucking artwork.

Combat oriented games without heaps of inventory mamagement.

I've been introducing my partner to gaming and they've really loved the few they've played so far. (BG3, RDR2, Skyrim) But they get pretty overwhelmed with constant inventory management of loot-heavy.

I'm looking for mostly RPGs that are:

- Combat oriented

- Not Soulslike or super difficult

- Singleplayer

- Minimal inventory management

- Ideally 3rd person

- Not horror

My current plan is to suggest Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, then maybe AC Odyssey. But after that I'm a bit lost.

Any suggestions?
